by the way, if you want to select YCbCr444 10bit , pls ensure you are using 2160P with either 24hz or 30hz...as i know 2160P 50/60hz not able to support YCbCr444 10bit on HDMI2.0

FYI, pls ensure your TV deep color/ultra HD deep color setting is enable before you configure your q10 pro.

guys, this player have the capability to play those SDR movie into HDR mode? other than this, the native build in player can download movie poster/info? rather than just showing icon inside...

no, if file is SDR, it will deliver SDR.
if file is HDR and TV or AVR is not, the picture is washed out.

u can try the "movie bar" app inside myapps.
i never use it, no idea if it is any good.

My Q30 doesn't have Bluetooth. Can anyone tell me if I can use Bluetooth Headphones with it if I get a BT adapter? Thks.

The key for any new boxes shd be a good Dynamic Tone Mapping algorithm to allow better viewing experience for HDR until we get displays that can do 10000nits or at least 1000/4000nits without tricks and proper colour volume.

I think the 8K box still dont have Dolby Vision
the new shield which coming on end of Oct confirmed with Dolby Vision i bought my q10 pro too early. haiz....

Cheapest box now with Dolby Vision is the all new Fire Cube TV i think

i need those with good VQ and SQ...of course those Dolby Atmos, DTS-X, DTS-HD MA, D-TruHD all is a must...

by the way, just search the fire cube ver 2, i think this box is design for streaming purpose, but not really focus on local media player...

it is about what u r primarily looking for in a box.
most boxes, incl best known ones are designed for online streaming - netflix, amazon, hbo, etc.
for local playback with all the essential capabilities - auto frame rate switching, full bluray menu, lossless audio, HDR/HLG/DV... some may not do well.
besides the coming little known himedia, there are 3 more higher end devices, now available or coming soon u can check up:

.. fire tv cube 2019 - supposed to be support DV/Atmos - for both online streams and local playback files?
.. new shieldtv - everyone's excited - primarily for netflix DV/atmos, gaming?
.. minix neo u22-xj - this is said to support DV/atmos too.

the info about these boxes are a bit scanty now since very new or not launched yet.
at this time mostly advertisement and promotion hype.
i will wait a couple months, read actual user reviews; moreover, it usually takes some weeks for the firmware to get improved.

i have been looking for a new box for >1 year now but there has been nothing great and new for last 2 years.
my primary purpose is local playback but eqpt limited to 4k hdr10/dtshdma/ddtruehd.
secondary purpose is a variety of online streaming apps incl astro go.
so, not so keen on 8k, atmos; no interest in netflix dv/atmos and gaming at all.
my Q10pro serves my purposes very well but i am looking a newer second box, future proof a bit.

Am planning to buy Q10 Pro due to can place the 3.5" HDD. But is it worth to buy now as this player is been few years model? Was searching for the newer model but it didn't come to Malaysia... Do u guys have any advise, I don't mind to try other brand.

the box is 4 years old, android7.0.
there has been no new and better box since... only lower grades and an ATV dongle.
Q100 was speculated but i think it has been aborted given it is not a better box to compete with newer boxes now and near future.
there is news of a new and better box but not much known.

about hdd compartment, yes... it is very useful if u have sata hdd.
there are very few boxes with this feature... and they typically cost 2x, 3x the price.

in some ways, i share yr problem... looking for new box, have 1 sata hdd to slot in.
i have resisted so far as i do not want 2 Q10pro... although i am totally satisfied with the one i have for >3 years.

if of any use, i will say if u r mainly doing local playback, q10pro is still good and will stay good for some years.
if u r looking for more memory/storage, it is just about minimum.
if u r looking for latest android version, latest hdmi, hlg, hdr10+, dolby vision... u probably want to wait 3-6 months.
see what the next new model will be like... there is little info at this time.

if u set to 2160p, u get upscaling for anything originally below that.
if u set to 1080p, that's the highest it will be, no upscaling for original 1080p.
also, u can press menu button on remote and explore the various fine tuning options incl imprex engine on/off.
the rest will be up to the TV.
