The exterior of the new design might not always be better than the previous one. But, I guarantee you the interior is 100% far better than now. Look at the CX-50. Also, the new one must have far more new features and safety features. This CX-5 is old and is close to 6 years old. If I was you will wait for the next one even 15k more. This generation is not worth it and you will take heavy depreciation when a new one comes out. Only you get a big discount or else you pay MSRP is a no-brainer.

Only the SST exemption + some minor freebies

Was actually booked cx30 in the beginning, then switched to cx5 more bigger size and cheaper price.

Fuel is expensive at Australia. Around oz1.90 per liter.

The States people don't drive 2.0 n.a SUV. Minimum 2.5 n.a in market.

Any 2.5 turbo owners here? Thinking of getting one and was hoping to hear some ownership feedback, especially on problems to look out for

based on experience, Bermaz Motor Trading Sdn Bhd (Body & Paint Centre) resolved my family Cx5. Claimed rear wheel bearing and steering clock spring, where other SC said it is normal.

Glenmarie one? Sucks to hear about the inconsistent service centres in Malaysia no matter how much you buy your car for. Really takes away from the ownership experience.

Do you have a reliable sa contact?

Yes glenmarie. Just random SA there will helps for any issues with car. The SC more than willing to chase for warranty claim while some other SC only concentrate on normal service but taici mode when having warranty claim

Thanks! Will probably go there for a look see. Spoken to some Mazda SAs in the past, found a number of them very cocky. Probably because their sales figures are very good.

Have seen people reporting that the CX5 gearbox starts to give up after the warranty period due to the no oil change policy. How's your CX5 gearbox holding up?

I am, but can't really help you coz i just owned the car nearly 3 month.

From fb group people usually complain burn engine oil, blown head gasket (usually happened on 2.2D, but saw some owner also complain about 2.5T)

fuel consumption at high side (i not really care it), brake not so good (even 2.0 also have same problem)

pros: a really powerful engine for this size of SUV, very low turbo lag, AWD system works superb, cornering quite precise. Overall driving experience is nice, no regret choosing Mazda again (previously owned a Mazda 3 BM/BN)

Nice, 3 months should be plenty especially if you drive every day.

Engine oil consumption is common to turbo cars, no matter the make or model. Will be worse if your driving style is aggressive. I noticed the same on my current car after a few spirited driving trips before I send it in for servicing.

Blown head gasket is really odd unless the owners always drive at red line or modded their cars. Also really odd because the power output of this car at 228HP/420Nm is very modest for a 2.5L turbo, ie it should be running at pretty low boost.

I guess you'd feel less turbo lag because there is a big 2.5L lump to help you get going.

More worried about problems with big ticket items like gearbox, turbo assembly, etc. Minor stuff I can live with. Any rattling or weird noises so far?

about gearbox, it is recommend to change ATF at 30k-40k, can push it to max 60k

ATF can request change at SC or outside workshop. read some comment on fb some SC will change it some won’t even owner said they pay for it.

rattling seems pretty minor, my car up till now nothing special ‘bgm’. just the suspension got kruk kruk sound but seldom happened and is not loud until annoying.

Still low mileage, almost hitting 30k km. probably will change ATF in due future. I don't believe in the seal for life ATF. Unless Bermaz give unlimited mileage warranty, then only I follow them to get new GB

Rattling - the bane of having cars locally assembled. Also hearing the same from owners of higher end cars like the vw arteon or bmw.

Ok so I’ve been watching a number of reviews on the cx5 turbo. Seems like the HP numbers improve with premium fuel. 227hp w/87 octane (Ron 91?) and 256hp w/93 octane (Ron 98?). Anyone felt any difference pumping Ron97 or higher?

I’m also assuming Mazda supplies the same engine variant throughout the world.

engine maybe same but engine tuning may be different..

i tried with ron100 (mix with half tank 97).. the differences are minimal. the pick up after 120 improves thou..

Nice, you could be right but I don't see the point in releasing different maps for Malaysia. Hotter country? But Filipino reviewers also claim the same about "premium" fuel and their weather is just as hot. Malaysian fuel is supposedly of a "good" quality too.

The spec sheet from Mazda Malaysia says 228hp so even when on Ron 95, I guess the figure should be higher since 228hp could be obtained using 87 Octane. An extra 28hp is massive if true, this is already in Mercedes GLC territory.

Just wondering why this wasn't made a selling point in Malaysia.

malaysia thailand should be same map. The requirement is ROn95 and above. Philippines requirement is 90 and above. By right based on that.. engine for philippines should be downtune to carter lower octane fuel.
