Just got myself a sennheiser hd 201 for 90 bucks from bata's thread.
the high and mid's and soundstage is much much better than koss k75. and audio files are much much more clearer than the koss. only thing these babies need an amp to drive them. After that bass and quality becomes even better. still running them in but overall i think its a better buy than ks75...and they are real comfy. i had 2 headphones before, zalman 5.1's and the phillips 890 and they kinda soar my ears after a few hours. I had these on for 6 hours straight and my ear's feel absolutely good. awesome buy |

Okay, I feel like getting a new headphone, and I would like to prefer criteria such as sharp and clear sound and strong bass, the headphone must not produce crackling sound if on too loud.....my budget is RM100 like that.....any recommendation?

But comfort wise (especially for those who don't like the clip-on type), Hd201 is really not bad, and it's freaking light as well. However, if i remember correctly it is supraaural type of headphone right.. instead of circumaural. |

Aiyo Bro nicholas..
I like that term 'supraaural' type and 'circumaural'.. However my HD201 fits my pinna nicely, therefore it is circumaural rather than a supraaural.. guess I have a 'small' pinna(auricle/auricula) huh? We certainly learn new things everyday!
No bro nicholas.. I was NOT kidding when I said it fits my ear to be a circumaural! Just a slightly 'tight' fit for my pinna there but the oval foam really enclosed the whole pinna.. quite comfortable and no 'hotness' as yet.. been listening since morning, on and off.. burn in at the same time.. just acquired this HD201 only had about 20 minutes on it tops. guess i have a 'smaller than normal' pinna.. all these while I thought otherwise I think your pinna would be 'normal' then QUOTE(nicholas_1213 @ Sep 16 2007, 05:18 PM) Hehe, i learnt new word also - pinna (just found it from wiki Btw bro jazzy939, you are not kidding right? bcos lastime i rmb i tried it, it was just nicely rest on my pinna.. only bigger than the pinna a little bit.. but it's comfortable |

Hope some pro here can recommend me some nice quality of neckband headphone. My budget will be less than RM150. Usage of the headphone will be more on listening music.

It would help if you could provide a shortlist of your 'favourites'...

Hemm i assume those 'big big ones' are cans and those 'tiny tiny earbuds' are earbud / IEM?Hemm comparison between those 2 types whether which one has a nicer sound quality is quite hard bcos there are different thing.. For those headphone (cans), in general they are better in sound stage and instrument seperation. IEM they normally are better in noise isolation. And of course bcos of the size, they are more portable than headphone. And normally headphone is harder to drive than the tiny one. There might have some exceptions which is out of my knowledge, but generally that's it. Other than the type of headphone / earphone, different brand, or even different model within the same brand will have different sound signature. And to mention everything it's really too much, from mylar, senn, AKG, Grado, AT and so on... Try listen to few different kind of headphone/earphone, then maybe u'll find the sound that u like. wonder where can test & try the headphone / earphone? if you are from KL area, then pay attention to MadZiZ's thread 'Lastnight tek tarik session', they had quite frequent meet up, and some tailo in the audiophile forum were there also. Then that's the time u kena poison |

Then that's the time u kena poison portability is not an issue, as i plan to put that at home while i have already own a creative EP630, but then i dun really like that creative earpiece cos when the cable are rub against anyth, its very loud in the ear... yucks... harder to drive you mean you need an amp in order to drive it ? hahax.. sorry.. i am rather noobish here... ya, i like to hear each detail clearly (i mean better instrument seperation i suppose..lol..) so, headphones can provide these qualities more than IEM? noise isolation doesnt matter much to me.. This is microphonic effect u r talking about, and most IEM will have this problem. portability is not an issue, as i plan to put that at home while i have already own a creative EP630, but then i dun really like that creative earpiece cos when the cable are rub against anyth, its very loud in the ear... yucks... harder to drive you mean you need an amp in order to drive it ? hahax.. sorry.. i am rather noobish here... ya, i like to hear each detail clearly (i mean better instrument seperation i suppose..lol..) so, headphones can provide these qualities more than IEM? noise isolation doesnt matter much to me.. hahax, i shall try it the wednesday... lol.. i m afraid they sound the same as my creative EP630...lol... at 1st this creative earpiece sounds so much better than the ipod earbud, but after some time, i feel tat the sound is a bit dull then the ipod earbud is worse.. haih.. then now i demand more.. Yeah, harder to drive, so u need an amp to drive it. And again, there is many different kind of combination (which amp to pair with each headphone/earphone). Hehe, slowly upgrade bro.. but i'm sure some forumer will ask u to direct jump to the higher range so that u can save few steps upgrading. i mean if u already targeted something at the higher range, and u've heard of it. Bcos once u listen to those better and suit your taste punya sound, they will haunt you, and if u purchase a lower range one, u'll not be satisfied (just like how the HD580 sound in my head now Another very important thing is your source lo |
