thinking to upgrade from claris to 105? do you think it worth it? or just get another bike with 105.. im using very old java veloce.
Just upgrade to combo Shimano 105 R7000 and don't turn back, it cost average rm1500 full grouppos. The differences between 105 and claris is huge! I've been using SORA for for decades and upgrade to 105 this month on my 10 year old aluminum frame, wow i was like flying up the hill everyday. I've tried my friend Ultegra and Dura-ace there are not much differences in pedaling performance in gear cadence ratio with 105 except Dura-ace have more buttery smooth shifting and lighter. Overall the hood grip and braking on new 105 r7000 much the same as Ultegra and Dura-ace. It felt like 105 took few genetics from Dura-ace which is why 105 R7000 came out a year later. So Shimano 105 is bang for buck...go for it.
....yes of course my new 1400g 30mm lighter with aero thin sapim spokes build wheelsets helps a lot.

Hi, I just upgrade from Sora 9 speed to Shimano 105 11 speed. Yes is a huge different is worth to upgrade. But if u thinking of upgrade ur frame to Carbon frame then u must well save some money and upgrade one time go.
I didn't upgrade full set. I found RD, cassette and chain at RM300 then Shifter at RM300. so less then 1k you can upgrade from 9 speed to 11 speed... hehe
hahaha congrats on ur 'revival' 105 is very decent groupset i change my cassette from 11-25 to 11-32 recently and can feel huge difference when doing steep climbs kaki now tak kejang2 lagi hahaha
changing the cage is not an option for me so instead i went and use a goatlink it works the same way; and making sure the chain stays tight during sprinting too (using fast gear)

can u share your pic of the goatlink? i have no idea of this....
Mean you still using short cage and change to max 36 teeth cassette, but how about chain?
im using 32t only. its a big gain from 25t for climbing since my area is packed with hills the chain, so far still can maintain tension when using the smallest gear (small cog on the crank, and the biggest cog at the back) since i'm using compact crankset, 50-32t then it'll be pretty okay for climbing

Mean u still using the same chain (11-25t). Won’t scare the tension too tight and it break? Then I can consider to upgrade this instead of changing RD long cage + cassette + chain...
guys.. just wanna check.. is it normal to not able to pedal comfortably on flat road on the highest gear (50T - 11T)? i found myself not able to hold the pedaling for more than 5 min.. and what is the normal speed on flat road for a road bike? i just tested on Kesas yesterday.. still around 26-28km/h only if I pedal slightly harder..
