guys.. just wanna check.. is it normal to not able to pedal comfortably on flat road on the highest gear (50T - 11T)? i found myself not able to hold the pedaling for more than 5 min.. and what is the normal speed on flat road for a road bike? i just tested on Kesas yesterday.. still around 26-28km/h only if I pedal slightly harder..

QUOTE(rads78 @ Jan 28 2019, 12:31 PM) Its hard for amateurs, need lots of training(both core and endurance) and properly fitted bicycle to do that. Best is to make sure that your cadence is around 80 to 95 RPM all the time. how u guys measure cadence? i am using Samsung Watch to track the cycling only..and one wireless cheap bike meter from Decathlon.. Water bladder: please, no Multiple bottles: yes, depends on individual. Some people requires none for 40KM, while some requires more than 2 bottles. On group rides, we always stop by the petrol station to re-hydrate, refill our bottles |

QUOTE(Seng_Kiat @ Jan 28 2019, 03:10 PM) Cadence is measured by a cadence sensor. You may get from lazada for about rm60-80 and bluetooth ready. Can pair it with Strava. That's the cheapest setup I could think off. Otherwise, you may get a cycling computer. Easier for you to check the current cadence. Coz my 2 bottles also not enough.. hahaa.. wanna ask again, those race for 80km and above, do u guys have a stop and get down from bike for a short break? or constantly on bike? never join b4.. but 80km looked scary to me.. i did my 45km b4 and used a total of 3hours including stop/resting..Regarding the water bottle, I bring 1 bottle only even for long 100-200km ride because I know my route. Most of my cycling route, there will be Petro stations or place for me to refill in almost every 30-40km at most. So, I dont need 2 bottles of water - it just makes the bike heavier. |

QUOTE(tcb2010 @ Oct 25 2019, 12:11 PM) Another question need opinion, I m using samsung watch..first of all, not easy to read the screen while riding..even with raise to wake enabled..coz sometimes not waking up..also dangerous to raise ur hand and read the reading on it tiny screen..it can show speed and current distance but cannot pair cadence sensor..unlike a dedicated bike comp like bryton, garmin or wahoo..Im looking at Samsung Galaxy Active 2 watch, and thought would like to use it for cycling. I do use dedicated GPS, but its more for my partner. Does any have experience with Samsung Smartwatches on cycling, like does the screen is constant on and visible showing the speed? It will be quite pointless for cycling use, if it doesnt shows real time visible speed. Thanks. QUOTE(jaykay4540 @ Oct 29 2019, 05:29 PM) hi. im new to roadbike cycling. Slowly add 20km to ur regular ride until 100km..like each 2 weeks increase 20km..i did my 140km on my 4th month of cycling too..how to train for my first 100km ride event? scared too slow later kena angkut naik lorry thanks. |

QUOTE(jaykay4540 @ Oct 30 2019, 10:16 AM) currently can cycle on bike trainer for 30 mins only. Most likely u will just bonk hard that day.. and struggling to reach the end point.. might even fall from bike or sitting roadside because too weak..hopefully wont happen before reaching 70% of the ride for you la..event is next weekend. i see. will try. thanks. QUOTE "Bonk is a condition of sudden fatigue and loss of energy which is caused by the depletion of glycogen stores in the liver and muscles". QUOTE(tcb2010 @ Oct 30 2019, 11:16 AM) Ah Ping ko, Yes.. with Always On feature turned to ON, the screen not really stay awake all the time.. it will go into a lower power mode when u didnt raise your hand to see the screen.. Even with Always On, still need to wake it? Definitely wont replace the dedicated comp, but wondering if its actually usable for riding, to show real time speed. if it needs to be woken up during riding....then its practically useless for cycling speed viewing on the fly. example, if u do tracking with Strava app in watch, with Always On, u will see alternating screen between Strava interface and your current watchface punya AOD mode.. not seeing strava on screen all the time ya.. QUOTE(Pebbie @ Oct 30 2019, 02:17 PM) guys, any recommendation for budget bike computer? tried decathlon's and it spoil after 3 months. luckily can claim for refund with their 2 years warranty. Firstly what budget first? Cheapest that can integrate with strava is those Bryton ones.. like Bryton 310 or 410.. |

QUOTE(Clueless07 @ Oct 30 2019, 09:28 PM) Right. Just on this topic.... just a small saddle bag from Decathlon will do la.. i am using that, ngam ngam fit a tube+multitools.. We carry spare tube, pumps and tools right. Typically RB guys don’t use a hang on pouch right ? Either at top tube or below saddle - so do they? Contemplating to get one .... QUOTE(Clueless07 @ Oct 30 2019, 10:02 PM) i am sort of incline with keeping it clean- be it a fast or slow rider. put inside jersey pocket vs inside saddle bag.. difference by 100g of the tiny saddle bag..So much $$$$ put into making a bike light- just to add back 500g there...... will go with at jersey pocket... or tumpang at friends bag miaopur.... can i ride w u....u got fantastic idea This post has been edited by ahpingko: Oct 30 2019, 10:58 PM |

QUOTE(Pebbie @ Oct 31 2019, 08:35 PM) probably buy the wireless option as you said. waiting 11.11 see got special discount or not. When u do anything above 100km.. handphone really not useful at all.. battery will finish before you finish ride.. on the other hand, bryton 410 seem nice but not sure if it worth it though for thr gps function when i already have handphone Bryton 410 can last up to 30 hours and very readable under sunlight, not to mention will not overheat under sun.. unlike your phone.. takkan u wanna off the screen or lower the brightness till cannot see.. |

QUOTE(Pebbie @ Oct 31 2019, 09:20 PM) Depends on ur budget.. if got budget get 410 at least.. if got more then go for Wahoo Elemnt Bolt which comes with navigation..but only useful if u always go long distance above 50km..Actually what is ur current riding distance? any plan to go further? else if riding like 40km only can just use phone first.. foc... QUOTE(Clueless07 @ Oct 31 2019, 09:32 PM) Me at January 2019 also said this.. |

QUOTE(Pebbie @ Nov 1 2019, 10:33 AM) just started riding since august, but made little progress during sept & oct due to haze + raining season. last i tried is 50km and do have plan to keep going. Then if possible straight get Wahoo Elemnt Bolt.. else end up like me.. i got Bryton 410 coz it is cheaper but end up selling it after 2 months to get Wahoo coz i need navigation.. |

QUOTE(Clueless07 @ Nov 13 2019, 04:05 PM) last week when riding GCE... me and friend slow poke type below (average below 25km/hr). Was always cautious and ride on the left side. last time i also got such mirror.. but not useful la.. too tiny view area and sometimes misaligned then seeing wrong angle..then a group of rider ( may be EZ rider) riding fast, at first 2 of them pass... with loud speaker... then i turn and look back see anymore coming but wasnt steady and swirl to the right a bit. KNS another fast ride (girl)... ride pass, then she turn back and stare gao kock Ego tercabar, but leg and lung not strong to chase. So gotto swallow the pride and take some pre-caution to avoid similar embarrestment loh later catch up with group at the Langon rest area... Lansi AF... blast their music and talk loud loud. better turn your head to see and it is faster la in my opinion.. just try it few more times will be familiar already one.. You swaying to right sure la ppl stare 9 you.. |
