Hi guys,

I'm new into road bikes. I've been shopping around for a decent starter bike for around 2.5k, and have increased budget to 3.5k. I began with Camp Helium / Impala– these go for 2.3k with mixed 105 (R7000) groupset.

Highest on my shortlist now is the 2015 Cube Peloton SL. Although the Cube comes with a more complete 105 groupset – its the R5800 from 2015.

Also, it looks like the shop is not giving 105 cassette and chain. How much of these will affect performance and compatibility? Would the Cube be a wise choice – the best value for my money?

Or are there better alternatives for 3.5k that I've yet to discover?

Thank you guys in advance.

What wheelset are offered>
The price looks good for the groupset mention. unless you have a better wheelset thrown into the bike

It says Fulcrum racing. Not sure exact model/spec, if any.

guys,

what is the most important thing to look in choosing a bike size? Is it the top tube length as well as the seat tube length? Or is there any other else?

you may refer to some cycling website as example here.
But if you have extra cash, it is recommended to go for a bike fit to get proper frame.

Thanks for copy pasting, Freddy. Is it still a good buy with this cassette and chain?

Thanks for the feedback. I'm trying to keep my weight to 80kg or lower, ideally. smile.gif

Alcott was in my shortlist. Have tested the Fiorano Lite, full 105 R7000 like the Ascari. Shop says the main difference is just frame design.

I'm not concerned with the weight savings with a carbon frame. Also quite scared of using carbon frame as first bike. I'm foreseeing that I'll jatuh bodoh a lot because i'll be opting to use clipless. rclxub.gif

I know modern carbon frames can take some abuse, but I think I should stick to aluminum first. I'll channel the savings from not using carbon into the groupset and perhaps a more reputable brand.

Are there any other bikes I should consider? Thanks.

i agree with kucing as well. rm650 for a pair of cosmic is worth the price, most probably taken out from a brand new bike.

IMO the best bang for your buck bike atm is the Fuji carbon with 105-5800 groupset selling at RM 3888.
