I'm not really sure yet, but nVidia's control panel 1:1 pixel mapping only works if u have DVI input for ur monitor. not the usual VGA input.

Are you sure about that? Because I do quite a lot of powerpoint presentations and most lcd projectors still use the standard dsub vga inputs. I'm sure the scaling works as advertised.

Comparison between 2407WFP vs 2407WFP-HC
The non HC version gave more vibrant color meanwhile the HC version shows less vibrant but more into natural color. Some might prefer the non HC version.

LOL dattebayo at ur avatar. I IS SANDCAT. I MAEK SPICE.
-------------------------------

Hmm B, I'll summarize my review :

Pros
1. 24" size - some feel the size is overwhelming, but to me about 1/2 a meter from my face I find it just right.

2. Contrast - Packs a punch, but thats is in comparison to my old 17" Benq LCD. Very satisfied.

3. Multi-connectors - I can switch between my PC (via DVI) to my PS2 (via Component) without any hassle.

4. 1:1 pixel mapping/ aspect / full - I believe with DVI and nvidia control panel I can set it within the PC itself also, but the option to do that in my monitor means i can set it on my PS2 as well. Allows me to stretch the images to what I want, if I used 1:1 on my PS2, the image goes to a cute and tiny 480 resolution, but clear and sharp.

Technically(haven't tried) if i use VGA cable for my PC, I can use the PiP to show my PS2 and PC screens simultaneously. Useful for keeping an eye for WoW raids attendance while jamming on my Guitar Hero II. Somehow you can't use PiP with DVI.

4. Supports a certain number of memory cards for cameras. Used a bit, not bad.

================================================================================

Cons
1. The dreaded color banding - It is revision A04 alright from the firmware I checked, but somehow it still persists. Its very apparent when you look at the WoW skies where the tonal is very obvious, it can be a bit annoying with movies also.

2. Brightness intensity - A lot of people complained the glare of this monitor. I agree too. You have to tweak your internal GC settings to make it bearable. But I eventually got used to it. Sometimes certain colors are too strong that some ppl who seen my monitor complained that its slightly painful to watch until I tweaked it lower.

3. Tearing during movies - This is slight and only detectable to a few, but it could be caused by my PC not able to churn the processing power to run a HD video.

4. Blank screen - There is a known bug that sometimes the monitor couldn't detect signals from my Component (and reportedly S-Video or RCA too) even though the source is playing fine. It normally occurs when I start the source ie. my PS2 and switch my monitor source. To solve this I have to physically detach all the connecting cables including the power, then put it back in and it will work.

I think its some conflict between the PC signal and the other source signals. But so far it only happened twice to me. So its a rare occurrence.

===================================================================

No comments on next gen consoles. But this website gave his comments on the capabilities from a PS3. If its too long to read, just check the last few paragraphs that summarize it up on the HD signal types allowed for DVI/Component. Its a review on an older version of the monitor, but at least you're aware what this monitor could do before. http://vissione.wordpress.com/2006/10/23/1...p-dell-2407wfp/

I think the HC version selling on Dell website now should have solved most of the problems ie. color banding. This is in comparison to the 27" version since its what I believe the same but larger version.
