oh... but even if I can afford 30" ACD, I would rather use the money to buy bigger LCD TV tongue.gif

LCD TV is not good for watching movies man. Projectors are the way to go for home cinema. LCD monitor is for gaming n work oni while LCD TV is like in no man's land. It's neither here nor there.

Quick question ..

Ordered a DELL monitor online 3 days ago and got a call from bank for payment approval today. Found out the price had dropped this midnite doh.gif
Any chance I can ask DELL to offer me the "lower" price? sweat.gif

do the font look very small when use native resolution on a 20" wide?
I very like the 20" wide, but too bad all of them are using 1680x1050 which make fonts really small w/o dpi adjustment

but 22" is just too big for me sweat.gif

btw is that the quality of picture will still be good if I down the resolution to 1440x900 on a 20" ?

Dont think that is possible unless you request to them to cancel the order and reorder again. Not sure whether its allowed or not though..

AFAIK, the resolution of 20" and 22" are basically the same. Therefore, if you are saying that its too small on the 22", its going to be same on the 20" as well. Anyway, i also have this problem previously but after getting used to it after some time, its so nice to have larger resolution. When i look at native 17" now, they look so huge and uncomfortable..

does your laptop graphics card detect your monitor when you open up the graphic settings?  Try to see if it lets you configure the lcd monitor or it might have something to do with hardware scaling, see if poking around your display options lets you play around with the aspect ratio.

Maybe the onboard display of the lcd tv has been set to 4:3 by default? There might be something in the tv menu that lets you play around with it.  By right you shouldn't need to get a special cable to get it to appear in the correct aspect ratio.

I used standard VGA cable. The only display settings on tv is changing from 4:3 to 16:9 .... with 16:9, the images is stretched. Scratching my head. Will poke around with the graphic settings. My previous notebook has options to change display resolution when connected to external display. But this one (Vaio VGN-A59GP) don't seem to have it.

Ok, i just gotten a reply from Dell regarding this matter. Here is the qoute

QUOTE

As for your question, basically, you can still purchase from a retail
shop but please do get the original order number (which they will
receive when they purchase the monitor from Dell). This is so we can
accurately track the part and the warranty status. If they are not able
to provide this, then I would advise you not to purchase from such shops
in case they are trying to sell monitors that no longer has valid
warranty.

On your question about whether the monitors are new or refurbished, I
cannot confirm on this. Again, this would depend on how they got hold of
the monitors in the first place - purchase from Dell or purchased second
hand.

My advise would be to purchase straight from Dell for peace of mind
regarding the warranty. I hope this answers your questions.
Hope this helps..

Well on sony sz34gp notebook atm and nvidia control panel is allowing me to a)use nvidia scaling b) use nvidia scaling with fixed aspect ratio c)use display built in scaling d) do not scale.

I'm not sure if that's what you mean by 1:1 pixel mapping but option d) looks like it would do that.
