QUOTE(mfa333 @ Jul 22 2007, 02:17 PM) Dell SE198WFP is TN panel? are you sure? Is that really bad if the lcd using TN panel? damn, there's no Dell showroom nearby my area, wanna go look myself.. AFAIK, 6-bit panel is TN panel, but i'm not too sure though. TN panel is not that bad, its just the restricted viewing angle and not so great colors display. There's no Dell showroom in Malaysia, maybe in some computer shop got sell Dell LCD. This post has been edited by ckkean: Jul 22 2007, 04:41 PM

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Jul 22 2007, 02:29 PM) is there any Dell showroom? SE198WFP, Dell stated that as "entry model" means its using TN panel. TN panel is just fine for the rest of us, just they have lesser color dynamic range and poorer viewing angle, but it really is just fine for the rest of us Only if u re those photographer that using DSLR, then IPS or MVA panels suits you better. but IPS/MVA panel has longer response time, which is not so good for gamers. i'm just being sarcastic.. of coz there's no Dell showroom at Malaysia except during PCFair. about "entry model", Dell stated E207WFP and E228WFP as entry model not SE198WFP. Do u noticed entry model started with "E"? That's why i'm curious whether SE198WFP use cheap panel or not... correct me if i'm wrong.. still learning to get the best value for my money... i'm a cheapskate..

Viewnet has Dell displays but their policy seems really weird. They will take your order, then, they'll order from Dell. They didn't specify whether they have it in stock, so I'm not sure whether you can pay and get it right at that moment over the counter. You probably have to wait, I don't know...The salesgirl was adamantly mum about that trade secret...She did mentioned that they will buy from Dell with cash. My theory is that they have friends in Dell that could buy the displays at staff price and then sell it to the public. I could be wrong. The display is registered under their name, and you get warranty from Viewnet, 3 years as advertised by Dell. Thing is, the display is registered under their name, they sell the display more expensive than Dell, and when you send your display for repairs or warranty claim, you will have to leave the display with Viewnet and they will ask Dell to come to their shop to repair...not sure they will charge you extra or not. Might as well buy straight from Dell, ain't it?
Now, got a question...can you buy directly from Dell's booth at PC Fair? Meaning you pay and get it right at that moment...I never asked them before...anyone has any idea?

If sell more expensive, who's gonna buy from them? about the warranty, they did recommend me to go to their shop should any RMA claims during the first year, after the 1st year, its either u call Dell urself or ask viewnet to help in RMA claim. And not sure whether we must register our product in order to enjoy warranty? I think just with the LCD itself, with a valid serial number, Dell will know when the warranty will end... this one pls correct me if i wrong

Yup. I also can't understand why are people so fussy on high-quality LCD but with dirt cheap price. For me a TN panel is good enough for me for a reasonable cheap price. If the serial number is valid with Dell, then i suppose you can have warranty directly with Dell. In any case, i dont think Dell cares who are the owner of the LCD when they make a replacement. I got my LCD exchanged even though i bought it under the name of my cousin. Just make sure the warranty is valid directly with Dell and it should be fine..Clarified this with Dell last time and they told me the same thing. Refurbished or not, direct from Dell or not - these are the questions they told me to clarify with the shop first before making any purchase...

The reason people buy from DELL is because their policy is to eliminate the middleman and thus FACTORY -----> CONSUMER.
Why buy from Viewnet when you can buy directly and it is MISB from DELL factory?
