This is the price taken during fair. Further discount to RM7200. user posted image

Then I upgraded to S95C with additional RM500.

Pretty sure that's a display unit.... but weird also somehow they have a S95C lying around for you for another RM500

Unscrupulous to advertise that price tag without mentioning its display unit if its true, somemore with that big 'New' sticker above

It's brand new set, not display set. That's why I wonder is this a bargain or a catch.

The 'New' sticker mean new 2023 model. biggrin.gif

How do you know for sure?

We are being skeptical because the price is too good to be true

Personally I think at this price, even if it's a S90C, it's worth it considering LG C2 would have cost over 9k.

So did you buy?
What the actual price ? Rm7,700.00 with EPP or with out EPP?
Even if it's a display set, should be worth it. πŸ˜ƒ 😊

7700 for 65" S95C.... think about it. Its too good to be true

Either its display set or its just limited to 1 or 2 units for the expo

Honestly if u really bought it at that price then congrats

Well, the sales assured me it’s a new unit. I will check the uptime in service menu once I got the tv in November after I move in to my condo.

Market still got LG C2? And C2 should be 8k+ few months ago.

Without EPP. I placed order S90C initially last week with RM7.2k because that’s the only OLED TV they display in the expo. And their system haven’t update with S95C price. Then this week the sales updated me that S95C RM7.7k.

Then I go for it lo.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Aug 15 2023, 08:50 PM)
A quick review / feedback of my 65" QN85C after I've been using it for a week. Decided to do this since the model is the only Neo QLED miniled model to have 65 inch and above unless u decide to go for QN95C. (QN90C only have 43 and 50"). U can skip to bottom if TLDR

Some context, this is my first TV purchase for my new house. Never had any ownership experience with any brands or models before, but did a lot of study and research online and based on that Samsung was not my first choice initially (no Dolby Vision, Tizen OS etc). I've always been a fan of Sony and naturally wanted their TV as well based on mostly good feedback and reviews.

So how did I end up with Samsung? Initially I set my eyes on OLED (LG or Sony), but after careful consideration regarding budget and taking into account my usage, I decided to skip OLED and go for miniLED instead. However when it comes to miniLED the choice is very limited in our market. Long story short I decided the QN85C would be the best compromise when it comes to image quality and features for my budget (wanted QN95B but couldnt find one for my budget range)

Summary of pros and cons. Usage is mostly youtube and netflix

Pros
- Very slim and nice design, especially if you are wall mounting

- Almost complete feature set for a mid-high end TV including  4x 48gbps HDMI 2.1 (no other brands except LG provide this)

- Overall image quality is very good after playing around with the settings. It also gets bright enough during HDR scenes (~1200 nits). There's also very minimal blooming during dark scenes when I set local dimming to High (there's low and standard setting). 720 dimming zones + miniLED really helps. I can probably say there is almost no blooming (OLED like) unless i go and look for it. I use local dimming high for HDR content and local dimming standard for SDR.

- The sound quality from the TV speakers is OK, I would say above average after changing some settings. Definitely good enough for most users. One advantage for Samsung TVs is you get Q Symphony when u pair the TV with one of their good soundbars like Q990B/C which I plan to do in the near future.

Cons
- The Tizen OS. Its not as bad as I would expect actually. Like most complaints are regarding the usability, but I got used to it very fast and the 2023 version have a few improvements like the quick settings menu. Still once a while I get some lag or stuttering while navigating the menu and settings, also the available apps are not as much as Google TV for sure. The biggest issue was on the first day where my wifi would disconnect randomly and refuse to connect back eventhough my wifi is fine, only after i reset the network settings then it would work, but it would still disconnect after a few hours or next day. Googled and found out that its a common Samsung TV issued. Did a fix and now its no longer disconnecting so all good there, but I imagine this would put a lot of people off who just got their new TV.

- No Dolby Vision. I just included this here because it is what it is. But to be honest for me.... I dont think it matters nor you can tell the difference unless you are very used to Dolby Vision content until you can tell the difference or you have another similar range TV for comparison side by side. The image quality itself even without Dolby Vision already looks very good in HDR. Maybe its not accurate but who cares unless you do, then you are probably better off with Sony

- Content upscaling, motion handling may not be as good as Sony. Again I dont have a Sony to compare or owned a Sony before to know, but some 1080p or 720p videos from Youtube look exactly the same (as in you can tell its lower resolution). I'm not sure how well Sony does in this regard.

- Reflection handling is quite bad. This is probably the biggest con for me. My TV is near the sliding door to the balcony, and during day time the reflection is pretty bad especially during dark scenes. Fortunately for HDR it gets bright enough to overcome the reflection but you still can see reflections during dark scenes. If u plan to get this TV, make sure its not near any window or door openings for optimal viewing.

Conclusion I am very satisfied with the TV for the price (got it for 7.5k including wall bracket and installation). There's no better choice for miniLED in this price tbh unless u can find a new QN95B or go for Sony X90L/X90K but those are not miniLED. My heart is still with Sony though biggrin.gif my next TV will most probably be Sony, hopefully can afford their QD OLED or miniLED by that time

I just noticed your post after researching about QN85C. I think this tv is underappreciated. a lot of ppl despises this tv due to ADS panel but they didnt read reviews that shows how good mini-LED's black level is. it also has less blooming compared to sony x90l.

i haven't been in a market for samsung tvs but this new release seems like a good replacement for my nu8000. i don't mind the lack of dolby vision as this will be mostly occupied by the kids downstairs (i already have lg oled in the bedroom).

thanks for the review. the zebra looks can pop out of the screen. incredible.

It's a VA panel actually. ADS panel only for US market

Yes very underrated TV for the price. Too bad there's no Dolby Vision...

I just watched Blade Runner 2049 yesterday on Netflix in 4k (too bad no HDR) in the most accurate FMM settings. Looks gorgeous. Cant imagine how OLED or QD OLED will look like if a mid range miniLED is already this good

I think QN85C and QN90C this year carries a lot of improvements over from last year QN95B flagship, but they just dont get as bright

Early source is from this post on another forum, but no one is able to confirm it

https://www.avsforum.com/threads/samsung-20...6/post-62500743

I then went and verify it after I got my TV

The BGR arrangement and subpixel pattern. IPS/ADS panel will be different

Look at the difference here (ADS QN85C)

You can also refer to the subpixel pic of the QN95B which is VA only as reference

How to access Samsung service menu for those with the latest smart remote. No need use the old remote. (do at your own risk) -

i) Download SmartThings and link your TV to it
ii) Bring up the app remote
iii) Turn on your TV. Make sure the audio output is set to TV speaker, and make sure you're at the Live TV page. (I tried at the Home page and it doesn't work)
iv) On the app remote hit Mute > 1 > 1 > 9 > OK
v) This will bring u to the hospitality menu. Once here hit 1 > 2 > 3 > 4. And this will finally bring u to the service menu

You can check your panel display time from svc - info

Reason I do this because I realised from the SmartThings app it actually shows your panel display time as well, but not sure how accurate is this. After checking the service menu i can confirm the value is the same

Noticed that tbc2u (same shop that someone bought a cheap qd oled) is selling 65qn95c for 7770. Strange because qn85c model is more expensive than qn95c on their shop on Lazada.

I wonder what's the price on Samsung EPP then. Okay lor... 1000+ zones... but prefer the QN95B that I bought few months ago.

One connect box allows my mom to connect her karaoke with ease. RM600 tng voucher. Bought with EPP for RM6850.

This kinda makes TCL C845 seems like a bad deal now. Unless you really insist on DV.... QN95C is a no brainer at that price. Also if that other guy really bought a new S95C at 7.5k....

But a bit weird also it suddenly dropped to this price. Isnt it a bit too early for a clearence this time of the year? Samsung havent even revealed next year line up

[EDIT] Only 85" QN95C is left on Samsung website now. 55, 65 and 75 is all gone. Seems like whatever is left with the shops are gonne be the final batch assuming they are not display units. Still felt weird and funny Samsung Msia is slashing their prices for the QN95C so aggressively while some people in other markets (eg: US) are struggling to get their hands on one because the supply is not there

Maybe Samsung is going all in on OLED TV next year. They already have QD OLED, but already secured 2m oled panel from LG. I guessed they cant go like miniled is the best. Probably will take a step back from miniled since competitions are fierce from TCL and Hisense.

Probably rather compete with Sony and LG on OLED TV and secure higher margins since Chinese players still skeptical about OLED.
