i jus wanna ask...izit worth buying??....bout the quality and all....wats the OS? bundled together ar? .....and the design ? nice onot?

Performance over price is definitely one of the best u can find beside Acer Gemstone 5920. No OS bundled, coz santa rosa platform + Geforce 8600 GS + 14"inch lcd it's impossible to bundle wif OS. Design is ok ok, u can read thru this thread and find some review by some of the users.

no problem with temperature...my lappie on 24/7 and air con only at nite...so far everything is ok...only u notice slight heat on left palm rest.

when you got heat... you can always rely on the zalman NC1000... it's does its job as if it's not there.

It sure worth ur money! Dun hesitate go get one!

don't use a laptop cooler and yet i still run my laptop for around 10-12hours a day depending on whether i have classes or not. So far so good.

Pricing reasons....to stay below rm4k with all the specs, the OS is most likely to be sacrifice....also, certain people don't like vista....if u bundle with vista, then some people have to pay extra for something they don want

my brother bought this s41 last week and played around with it.

here's my summary after 1 week experimenting

price :
design : ok ok
audio : sucks
gaming : so so
office productivity : ok ok
build quality : so so
overall user experience : unsatisfactory
WIR ( will i recommend ) : nope

os used : xp pro and vista ultimate - try both but experience system hang and keep restarting

just wanna share my experience with you guys....

Driver problem?

shouldn't be driver problem, the driver provided from someone from benq ( my bro bought this thru his friend from benq ), more frequent system hang using vista. maybe is due to the driver ? any keen to ..... pls refer to my sales thread at the garage sale section. i'll be going to singapore tonite, will check out the nec e6310 there ( heard some good comment at this forum ) and might be coming back with nec! he (my brother) willing to let it go at way below selling price, he's planning to replace it with either xps 1330, t61 or mbp and he doesn't mind pay more to get quality product.

And as for your ratings...

Audio - Don't compare it to stand-alone brands like Logitech or Creative, compare them iwth other laptops.

Gaming - this is only an average machine and thus you can't expect much from it.

Well the audio is totally correct, I have never come across any good audio except some from toshiba and acer gemstone.
Well this is happen either they put a crappy audio chipset or speaker.
Oh well even i have these dolby home theater i don't use it, I used my altec lansing headset instead.

That's why you compare it with other laptops. Even i plug my Z5300 into the headphones port... can't stand the bult-in ones.

For laptop average audio is really below the standard. That how it was built even till today only several model has a decent one.


For the laptop keep restarting maybe the ram is not plg in properly or the CPU didn't get a good contact with the heatspeader.
