Mine got when going up those ramp carparks..

The sound will come when engine below 2k rpm..

Those metal sound like driving old rusting falling apart cars right..

i think is something sounds like proton wira/iswara engine especially when they picking up, the metal clanging from the engine. seems like proton likes the pinging on their engine so much (to tell you that's a proton engine). People says pinging hurts the engine and yet we haven't seen any proton engines have piston burnt or blow a hole on it. brows.gif

even nowadays new perodua engines having the same trait as well, not sure about the 1000cc & 1500cc version, but it is evident on the 1300cc ones.

Hi, sorry if it's a noob question. Do iriz utilize spark plugs cable? Or it's just relying on ignition coil w/o distributor?
*
All Campro derived engines are Coil-on-plug, no spark plugs cables.

Wow your stock battery last for 3 years? That's amazing.

Mine lasted barely 2 years, and now using Century battery, also from bateriku.

Yup this is it!
Sometimes I had it all day long while driving on straight flat roads.
Then I decide to go service centre made appointment and suddenly on that day it went empty.. lol betul!!!

Mind blown 🤯 totally

Meanwhile thanks for the reply..
Yet I still assumes that 20% of iriz total production had this issue.. Which is unacceptably fail.. in quality control.. shame on Proton manufacturer.

I was shocked myself..after around 2.5 years, I already installed Bateriku apps just for emergency tongue.gif

if you talking about the metal clinking sound from engine, it is something a lil bit complex, it doesn't happens on single factor, it takes a few factors altogether. It is not the 20%, it is the 100% with probability.

try pump in a full tank of RON97, i think you won't be able to hear that already.

i remember i heard from somewhere, a youtuber who drove a persona says there's an ECU update for Iriz to resolving the knocking issue, do ask the SC about potential ECU update, proton is so good in doing continuous improvements, i think it is not the first time they offers ECU update for their cars already. Good job proton.

Wanna ask the fuel consumption for city driving.

I've been getting a consistent 9.2 l/100km for the past 3/4 years.

Is this normal and which RPM should I stay in to save fuel? Only going from 60 to 80 km/h most of the time.

The first Petronas FC seems to be an outlier and I just realised I forgot to add in some details.

I have the 1.6 Premium 2015 Model and currently using Petron RON 95. So if I convert my current FC to km/l, my FC is at 10.87 km/l which seems to be quite good.

Have you tried BHP before? because I have heard that the mileage is better but then again, it's all just hearsay.

hey i have been battling this pinging sound since 2016. no solution until today. Proton did update my ECU in Oct 2018, but it was temporary solution and came back after a week or two. I have also tried pumping in full BHP Ron97, but it doesn't improve much.

If anyone has any solution, please do let me know. Kind of getting sick of this pinging sound, getting louder year by year.

How sure r u that the sound is from engine knocking? Have u tried revving the engine while being stationary, to hear if there's any pinging noise?

I used to having this weird metallic pinging noise & i thought it was coming from the engine. Until 1 fine day, while trying to dampen some dashboard rattling sound, I removed the glove box & run my hand in it gently tapping around & found that 2 screws connecting between 2 parts of metallic sheets are not secured with nuts. Once i secured both screws with nuts, the metallic pinging noise is gone. That 2 sheets of metal parts are around the left side of the aircond blower. U can try to tap ur hand around that area.

If the noise is really caused by engine knocking, try a bottle or 2 of Techron Concentrate Plus from Caltex. Pour it into ur fuel tank when u refuel. It helps to remove carbon deposits from the fuel system & some of the engine parts. Caltex even produced this as OEM for BMW to clean carbon deposits. Same bottle design, same content, but relabeled it with BMW label. It costs RM46 per bottle. Nvr tried, nvr know...
