QUOTE(chiucheng @ Nov 14 2018, 01:52 PM) Hi guys, is it true that light bulb for iriz interior dome light is T10? coz on iriz manual only state 5W for side map lamp, while 8W for centre door lamp. thinking to swap them to LED ones. Please advice thanks These are what I got.

QUOTE(khairilyazit @ Nov 14 2018, 05:09 PM) Side map light is T10 or W5W i believe.. Center lamp is 31mm festoon.. And if using, normal cheap led.. it will glow at the door position because there is a low voltage going through.. Center lamp glows also whether it's osram or philips. What u need to do is add/wrap a resistor around the connectors. Look for resistor with this value = 1k ohm 0.5w

Btw, all the bulbs in my Iriz have been replaced with LED, that includes the turn signal lamp & even the number plate lights. So far I'm very pleased with it. Some might think what's the point? I'm actually not into taking advantage of the energy efficiency of LED, as I believe the energy savings are very negligible, if any. What I m looking for is the longevity & brightness (hence more safety due to increased visibility) of LED. Just "replaced & forget". This is especially important for the top mounted brake lights. Oftentimes I've seen a lot of cars having all brake lights failed, which is very dangerous to the driver & the car which is following from behind. With LED, I have peace of mind & rest assured it'll work as long as the lifetime of my car. So, no more worries on blown halogens.

QUOTE(chiucheng @ Nov 14 2018, 08:01 PM) im interested to change my signal lights and reverse light into led, did u install extra load resistor for all of those bulb? or just for the turn signal ones? No load resistor required for all, except for turn signal lamp. I 1st bought those normal amber LED & got hyperflash issue (blinking rapidly like when a halogen is blown) & panel meter keeps showing check LH / RH signal. Then i look around n there r a few alternatives. One of it is to change the signal relay that's meant for LED. However, in iriz, there's no such relay to swap as it's embedded in the board that controls all these (forgot what the term). Then there's another option - add load resistors, but it gonna produce a lot of heat & I don't like the idea of those load resistors dangling around (we already hv enough headaches with rattling & vibration noise). Finally I managed to source from aliexpress. It's LED but built-in with resistor, hence maintaining the original wattage. If u want, I can PM u the link. But of course, it's pricey. And it's freaking bright when blinking at night. I can see those road signs reflecting amber color. 😁 But imo, not as annoying as those new Toyotas with rear fog light turning on when it's not necessary. Bright red light. FYI, Toyota even had released videos educating its drivers on what is the purpose of it & when it should be on ie. Heavy rain/fog. But I see those Toyota owners turned it on even when there's no rain. Eye sore.

QUOTE(khairilyazit @ Nov 14 2018, 09:32 PM) What brand/type of bulb did u use? Generic led bulbs output does not match with their halogens counterpart... just blobs of bright light.. I agree with u partially, but regardless of generic or not, just pay attention to the lumen rating

QUOTE(jVIPERs2 @ Nov 15 2018, 12:04 PM) LED with built-in resistor, hence maintaining the original wattage sound interesting. What's the price range? Those Japanese brands is also to blame as their switches are those that stays on until you turn off. So those ignorant users can always use the dumb "didn't realise" excuse... I like Proton's approach where the foglights are on user demand, hence will never have the "forgot to turn off" situation. PMed u the link. U'll get better deal through using the app.

Hi, sorry if it's a noob question. Do iriz utilize spark plugs cable? Or it's just relying on ignition coil w/o distributor?

QUOTE(fever003 @ Mar 10 2019, 02:27 PM) hey i have been battling this pinging sound since 2016. no solution until today. Proton did update my ECU in Oct 2018, but it was temporary solution and came back after a week or two. I have also tried pumping in full BHP Ron97, but it doesn't improve much. If anyone has any solution, please do let me know. Kind of getting sick of this pinging sound, getting louder year by year. How sure r u that the sound is from engine knocking? Have u tried revving the engine while being stationary, to hear if there's any pinging noise? I used to having this weird metallic pinging noise & i thought it was coming from the engine. Until 1 fine day, while trying to dampen some dashboard rattling sound, I removed the glove box & run my hand in it gently tapping around & found that 2 screws connecting between 2 parts of metallic sheets are not secured with nuts. Once i secured both screws with nuts, the metallic pinging noise is gone. That 2 sheets of metal parts are around the left side of the aircond blower. U can try to tap ur hand around that area. If the noise is really caused by engine knocking, try a bottle or 2 of Techron Concentrate Plus from Caltex. Pour it into ur fuel tank when u refuel. It helps to remove carbon deposits from the fuel system & some of the engine parts. Caltex even produced this as OEM for BMW to clean carbon deposits. Same bottle design, same content, but relabeled it with BMW label. It costs RM46 per bottle. Nvr tried, nvr know...

QUOTE(fever003 @ Mar 11 2019, 07:11 AM) confirm engine sound, not dashboard.. like previous posts mentioned, sound like old proton iswara/saga going up the hill. it doesn't make that sound when stationary, only when there is heavy load onto the engine, like going up the hill at less than 2k RPM. but nowadays mine is bad that even flat surface it will make that sound.. to make the sound disappear, i have to pedal harder until RPM above 2k , but then the car will go faster when I dont want it to go faster like got traffic ahead or etc. i haven't tried adding those stuff in, I heard its not good to add stuff into fuel, the engine oil in engine will become thick? Bro, it's not EO additive. It's fuel addictive with PEA detergent that will get rid of carbon deposits. Every fuel on the market has additive added, like detergents, friction modifier, anticorrosive agents. The industry branded it like, shell fuelsave, shell v-power racing, Petronas primax prodrive, caltex w/ techron, bhp infiniti. These additives r one of the many factors that set each different fuel brand apart. Techron is already available in Caltex fuel, except that this Techron Concentrate Plus is a more concentrated form of it. It won't affect the viscosity of your EO.

QUOTE(fever003 @ Mar 11 2019, 07:41 AM) Alright cool thanks. Sorry got mixed up between EO additive and fuel additive. Will give it a go, but after reading and watching reviews, you need to do it many times then only effective? 1 bottle won't do much. I usually pour a bottle of it everytime after 10k service interval. All fuel already hv detergent in it. It's just that this product is more concentrated & i added it every 10k to serve as a preventive maintenance to clean existing carbon deposits & minimize any future build-up. U might also wanna consider revving ur engine hard once in a while. It is a method which they coined it as "Italian tuneup" & it's what the technicians in Ferrari do after each service maintenance to rid carbons. The key is to rev ur engine hard & get it hot enough to naturally burn off those carbons.

QUOTE(yadea @ Mar 11 2019, 10:36 AM) Just curious since I drive a manual, how to keep the auto on high revs for a long time? Switch to L and drive? I looked for a long stretched road w/ light traffic @ night time. Shift to L & depress the gas pedal WOT. Repeat a few rounds. But be cautious not to overdo it. It puts a heavy strain on our "top-notch reliable" punch CVT. God forbids if the belt snaps. Lol. While doing it, I keep a lookout for police patrol car too. Can't imagine if i was stopped by a patrol car when doing the deed. Police : Encik, apa lu tgh buat. Pandu laju2. Me : Encik, I tgh buat Italian tuneup. QUOTE(fever003 @ Mar 11 2019, 11:46 AM) Actually, that seemed somewhat right. I remember I drove outstation alot, and I drove hard. I remember there was minimal to almost no pinging during that period. But the car now is just 100% city driving, alot of traffic light. So I guess there is no chance to rev hard and burn off those carbons unless I do it idle. But there is a rev limiter that cuts off at 3k RPM. Ur tranny is MT or CVT?
