I drive a 2019 Proton Iriz (premium spec). Loving the car so far; great handling, good build quality, amazing ride
Just one jarring issue la, or maybe it's two
Concerning the fuel consumption.
This one time I was driving around and just before I turned the car off, I checked the range; it displayed "300KM". The car sat perfectly still until I got back in couple of minutes later & turned on the car, the range suddenly displayed "263KM"
That's a pretty big drop and it is very concerning. What's going on??

and since we're on the topic of FC,
what can I do to decrease the speed at which the fuel bars go down?
seriously, the bars go down stupidly fast la despite me driving with the eco light on 97% of the time. Tire pressure also often checked

Why you guys get very high L/100km? I usually average around 5.1-5.5L/100km in highways and 5.7-6.3L/100km in city traffic. Rawang-Midvalley/Bangi depends on site.

Maybe you guys need to change your driving habit if you guys want better FC. This is not a smart car with AI and machine learning built in that can predict your driving habit and improve FC accordingly. Somemore Iriz is a pretty hefty hatchback so constant acceleration is really discouraged.

Now, I'm just worried about the steering rack, since there have been 2 cases reported here as far as I know.

If FC ain't a huge concern (some people see a difference of 2KM/L as significant), and the slight jerks during acceleration from 10-30km/h is not an issue (felt mainly in traffic jams), then the Iriz is really great car to have - especially in terms of safety + comfort.

That's my thoughts.

Looks like theres a lot of new iRiz owners here, nice. I'm still keeping my 2014 till now. Sometimes feel want to upgrade but still sayang this car even after major repair coz already spent quite a lot

After 5 years of ownership I think maybe can spice up things a little but to keep fresh look. Anyone here got use the center armrest that found in shopee? Is it functioning well? Good buy?

Should I just opt for semi-synthetic? Anyone knows the price? The 1st service I paid almost rm200 for the fully synthetic + 'free' labour.

if you live in the city with lots of traffic lights, i suggest get an auto.

top up a bit for honda jazz hybrid.

but i notice sometimes the car takes a few crank to start once a while, not too sure is it related to battery

yep in term of handling i’d say neo/gen2 fare much better, but then the neo comes with more sophisticated set of rear suspensions and lower center of gravity.

i think my car only used for faring people and stuffs within the COE center and been parked for a long time before actually selling it off. IP noise kit from Proton also not yet installed as well. But for the price I pay, i still think it’s worth it.

the improvement is worth it? I drove Socar iriz 2017 version before buying the 2014 one..and can easily tell the car is more refined than 2014 - 2016.

Ignition Coil Question :
Guys please advice, I wanted to change my spark plugs on my last service but the car shop said that the ignition coil is stuck and it may break if the yank it out. I checked online and the issues I think its the ignition boot.

The shop wanted to charge me  RM160 per ignition coil, I checked online it only cost RM 80 for ORI and 65 for OEM version. Can anyone advise how best to remedy this? Thanks

If they want to, they can just reuse the current Iriz platform to build a new model just like what P2 did with the 3rd Gen Myvi. Just optimize it for better roominess.

Geely unfortunately doesn't have a B-segment equivalent to an Iriz/Persona and the ones they do have are very old models.

Hi guys I want to install a reverse camera for my wife's car but don't know how to access the reverse light.

Can I take out the whole back light just by removing the two screws? It seems loose but I'm afraid of breaking it. Are there clips somewhere that I missed?

Looked for tutorials on yt and Google but couldn't find any

Couldn't agree more that Hankook is the best bang for the price. But unfortunately, Ventus v12 Evo2 (k120) is no longer available in Malaysia & it's being replaced by Ventus Prime 3 (k125), which is a touring tire, not UHP as the former. I found out these from the tire dealers bcoz I want to replace my front PS3 which the tread depth is low & having chipping and peeling issues. Now that I'm in a dilemma to give k125 a try or stick back with PS3. But I read around that chipping & peeling issues r very common for PS3.

My current setup is Front PS3 & Rear Ventus v12 Evo2. Bcoz my earlier front PS3 is having the same problem & I rotate the rear set to the front & replaced the worn-out one with Ventus v12 Evo2 at the rear. Should I give PS3 another try or is there any alternative for Ventus v12 Evo2?

Well that is something cant be done. My area open space car park. I agree, i only trust brandless tyre if the review is good. Well all brand of tyre start somewhere. Last time falken considered brandless but they made it to mediocre tyre. Even some model consider good. And the other way around for branded tyre. Some branded tyre produce poor performance model like the famous goodyear nct.

May I know how u all pump iriz tyres? it is follow specification such as

for 1 - 3 person -  front - 210 rear - 190
for 4 - 5 person - front - 210 rear - 220

is it normal if I not pump my tyre around 3 months my rear tyre psi will be at 120 - 150?

I just amazedt that he was from gen2 to iriz. Which both are using the same campro engine & He might expect it to deliver the same type of power delivery etc. Different is campro vvt (not much different and less power if he was from campro cps in gen2 + cvt)

But the punch cvt is a joke in cvt categories, others cvt were more direct, straight power feel and better fc. We should blame on proton technical department who come out with Punch brand selection for their model. They had a Jatco cvt from inspira during the iriz, persona, preve, suprima design phases, how come they evaluate the punch cvt until it end up in production.

It does go without saying that the Punch CVT (and I suppose with all clutch-based CVTs) is not as great as a torque converter-based CVT, but the tuning has improved tremendously. To me, that's a great feat la, can improve a clunky thing into something pretty solid. Though, as with all CVTs, it's bound to die early compared to other transmissions - that's a given fact (and one I accepted when I bought the car). Still see a lot of old Iriz, Preve, Personas still going around strong

Guys, Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 or Michelin Pilot Sport 3 Tyres for proton iriz stock 15" rims ?

regarding on chipping, peeling at outer side of tyre, that is still happen to PS4. i guess that the trade off for a good grip.
someone on tyre tread informed that we need to drive gently on PS3, PS4 to prevent chipping problem

Obviously many don’t bother to read the manual...
Easier to just post question and wait for answers doesn’t matter right or wrong...

Anyone encountered this problem before? The brake warning light illuminate randomly while driving. Not always happen. But when it lights up, it'll remain there unless I shut down my engine & restart it, then it's gone. Checked that brake fluid is in normal range. Brake pads are not worn out yet. Handbrake is fully disengaged too.
