Some of you might be thinking, should I upgrade to Astro & Broadband?
Well, here's your answer:

Is it worth it? Compare with Unifi or Maxis Fibre plans, you get enjoy some savings a month wor...
But when sh*t happens, this is what you get? If you don't mind with that, thinking that "how rare it happens anyway..." or "it's just an isolated case", then it's your choice.

Well I'm not saying that if you're on other ISP, you'll confirm won't get this kind of treatment, especially during this MCO or Conditional MCO period.
But in my opinion, as long you're on Astro service, you should be prepared for that to happen to you one day.
*
Yes, getting a package might be cheaper/saving, but it is more like putting all your eggs in one basket. Once internet is down, you don't get your favorite channel as well smile.gif . This is why you need to diversify your investment to avoid financial crisis laugh.gif

You sure you want to upgrade to Ultra Box?
I wouldn't recommend existing PVR box users to upgrade to Ultra Box cuz the disadvantages are more than the advantages, especially the fact that there's no hard disk used on Ultra Box.
Unless if you're using HD box, then upgrade to Ultra Box should be okay.
But it's up to you anyway.
*
hmm.gif I thought that it can cushion the impact when switching from Astro IPTV to DTH

Rarely used the live TV pause/rewind feature( if this is the main disadvantage?), , since the PVR decoder is sensitive to cancel recording/ recording failed, etc since the 1st gen HD PVR box

Btw would probably only do it few months later since now it’s the COVID 19 pandemic and probably want to max out the 24 month contact by making major changes as much as possible

Actually I believe that’s Astro IPTV

Astro CS can even pretend to hear what you say over the phone too and pretend to key in what you say but in reality, they disregard what you say and write down “request for callback”

Last time can view and track the case on Astro Self service portal and also see if the CS is pretending like what I mentioned above, now with the new UI looks like they removed it

Now since my phone plan comes with unlimited call, I can theoretically call them unlimited times devil.gif

btw is the ultra box list of issue going down or up?

Kinda nice to have the ultra box to use is to cushion the impact and make the double recording statement invalid to block the TV.... PVR box is sometimes sensitive also with recording from time to time( like recording cancelled by itself, failed, etc)

Some Ultra Box users has been complaining that the box kept restart itself, streaming error, this and that...
It is a risk to take, unless you really love Astro UHD ch780, then u go upgrade lor...

I would advice you not to sacrifice away your PVR box for the sake of enjoy cloud recording feature.
Every Astro customers can already try out the cloud recording feature on Astro Go. It's not that you have to upgrade to Ultra Box to enjoy cloud recording also...
Whatever cloud recordings you do on Astro Go will always in-sync with Ultra Box.
You try schedule cloud recordings on Astro Go, then watch it from there if in case your PVR box fails to record for whatever reasons.

*

By default, the transponder 10732MHz (01 M3B VL 10732) is used as Entry Point on all Astro HD, PVR and Ultra Boxes.

For older software, it would be 10982MHz.

Btw why ask? You want to adjust your Astro dish?

Q: Supposed that complimentary viewing on all channels was ended on 30 April for all Sports pack customers. But how come I'm still able to watch all channels even till today?
A: Here's your answer:
QUOTE
Hi. As the nation goes through these challenging times to contain the COVID-19 pandemic via the Movement Control Order, Astro is committed to serve Malaysians by keeping them informed and entertained. We understand the disappointment of our Sports Pack customers for not being able to experience the latest live sports events due to the global crisis. As such Sports Pack customers (including Sports Bundle, Premier League Pack, Golf Channel, Astro Cricket and Rugby Pass TV ala carte; excluding Sports Lite and WWE) are eligible to an enhanced package to all channels* till 11.59am 12 May 2020.
*Except for Astro First and Astro Best movies

That hidden definition of "enhanced package", is actually Super Pack Plus 4 🤣🤣🤣🤣
But they can't say it explicitly because existing Super Pack Plus 4 customers that been paying RM228/month will confirm make noise.

hmm.gif My TV is 1080P, yup, using cloud recording but watching it on a laptop screen is small so my parents' record and watch on TV, so basically cloud recording on Astro go is kinda pointless unless travelling... currently don't have a PC that I can connect to a TV to watch Astro Go

Im the 1st batch of IPTV(Maxis network on unifi infrastructure) subscribers, during the 1st 2 years, Astro's response to downtime was good, problem were addressed within the same week.

Until 2 years back, line were more than 2 f'ing months..
It was a f'ing nightmare, having to get the right technician over to fix a simple problem, it was a plastic clip outside the house rosak but Astro, Maxis, TM person all performing drama on Mexican standoff, waiting and pointing finger at each other..

Yes > 2 months, I still remember the pain, thats why the F word doh.gif

After I got my service back, file for 3 months rebate and straight cut the service. mega_shok.gif

No rebate/cheaper astro bill could justify that... Just separate internet and TV, at least you don't get every down at the same time and Astro customer service forwarding your problem to IPTV department but problem not getting sorted.

*edited: at least now, I got a 4G maxis dongle and unlimited on mobile sim so practically internet always up, if astro rosak still AstroGo app there for my family as long as internet is available.

Their CS department isn't connected for some reason.... like the general CS line can't seem to transfer to their IPTV department but instead opted to pretend to listen to what you say and disregard what you say.... basically a waste of time.... and write down "request for call back"

Even at one point when maxis introduces fiber nation plan, their multicast server keeps going online and offline and when their technician came to my house and check... they said it's a known issue at that time.... and mentioned that TM and Maxis blaming each other.... but guess what, my area is Maxis FFTH(Maxis own infra).... so since why would TM be involved?

IMO, an average user would think that they would rarely call their CS which means they would probably prioritize discount over Customer support...

Astro teaches you how to continue watching your shows when there's no satellite signal during heavy rains. biggrin.gif

Yeah, as if like using Play from Start feature as a workaround to continue watching your shows is very convenient, especially for the elderly and non tech savvy persons. dry.gif

Nice way to cushion up the impact from switching from IPTV to DTH but based to feedback on FB comments, looks like it’s more like an uncomfortable sofa cushion that you put on the sofa laugh.gif

My issues with the Ultra Box:

1. After continuos watching for 4 hours or more, there have been 3 to 4 times when the box switches off by itself. Totally off and no light. Have to off and on the main and then it will turn on again with the light.

2. While watching movies with WiFi, the WiFi will disconnect after 1+ hour. Then off the box and on again and WiFi will re-connect.

Yes, Starhub dropped them to save some money to get other priority channels like KTV HD in the press release below.

KIX and Thrill were bundled on the premium movies channels pack along with CinemaWorld, FOX Movies, HBO etc. Unlike KIX which is included on basic cable on other countries like astro, Singtel etc. Definitely, viewership is low for KIX on Starhub.

Also, press release from Starhub below announcing launch of Aditya TV and KTV HD (late May).
