Good news is the Astro Beta app has no geo restriction like the Astro Go app. I am currently overseas now and I can watch all channels on the Astro Beta app with a overseas IP address. But I a sure this won't last long. Maybe just during beta.
The Astro Go app used to be able to watch from overseas with a Malaysia VPN server but Astro blocked it. Only can watch in Malaysia now. This post has been edited by brandonkl: May 18 2019, 02:16 PM |

QUOTE(kkm @ May 19 2019, 08:23 AM) I have a newer model PVR with "wifi" marked in front. But I don't see the wifi under Settings -> Network. Is there a switch or something? I had this problem 2 years ago. You have to call Astro to push a special WiFi update to your device to fix it. If after software update, still no WiFi, then the WiFi function is broken, like my PVR. So had to change a PVR and was charged RM100. |

The new UI for Astro Go on the browser is live now. Weird that, all my English movies channels not listed although I am subscribed.

Just found out something new about the new Astro Go ... when we were on Beta App in June, we were able to watch all movies channels like HBO, FOX. But since July, HBO, FOX channels are no longer available on Astro Go (web or app) for copyright purpose. I thought the new Astro Go App was a replica of Astro on my TV where whatever I can watch on my TV, I can watch on my app. Looks like it is not the case now.

QUOTE(joshhd @ Aug 11 2019, 01:16 AM) Existing PVR users will still continue to use their box. Having said all the above, when will the 4K UHD box be rolled out to customers? When they launched it, Astro said by end of 2018 and looks like one year delay now.But we can assume that Astro is planning to phase out their PVR boxes, which eventually replaced with Astro's 4K UHD box, which comes with cloud recording. All current B.yond boxes, including PVR DMT5 v2 does not support 4K UHD. Maximum Full HD. Even the UHD channels on CH844 and CH845 are on the channel list, but it'll just show as "This channel is not included in your subscription", so can't watch it. In my very opinion, a set-top-box (STB) that Astro will introduce to customers that supports 4K UHD quality channels AND recording (cloud recording, to be exact), shall be the one and only 4K UHD box model. I think they plan to have no more having separate HD box or PVR box like now. They find that having one STB model that can support 4K UHD and recording is better (somehow save cost for them too). But the recording part, they'll sacrifice the included hard disk in Astro PVR box, hence phasing it out as time goes by, and gradually replace to cloud recording on their 4K UHD box, since many viewers nowadays spend more time on their devices on the go, rather than TV. |

QUOTE(yongtjunkit @ Aug 10 2019, 06:59 PM) It’s in beta now The sign up page not working.https://www.astro.com.my/beta-program/cloud-4kuhd I see that Astro have another opportunity to earn $$$$ with cloud storage and according to the FAQ, you can’t record all channel/ for some channel, the recording can be stored for a certain period of time. You can’t even access the cloud recording from Astro GO, kinda defeats the purpose of cloud PVR |

The first batch for beta 1.2 testing is only open to those landed properties in Klang Valley and not condominiums even if you have an individual dish. Astro will open the 2nd batch of 1.2 beta soon to condominium customers.

Anyone having issues accessing Astro Go using a web browser https://astrogo.astro.com.my/ ? When I click on "I am Astro Customer", nothing happens. Yesterday was still okay.

With new Ultra Box, don't understand why we need to go to channel 481 to purchase the UHD movies with whatsapp or sms... I would think with new technology (Ultra Box), you can just click "Purchase" from your remote control!
