Hmm... so pairing is not successful in this case. You follow the instruction as available in the link in step 4
https://support.astro.com.my/question/set-t...ntrol-ultra-box  ?
LG TV code suppose to be 11

Few hours using, got a few noticable UI bug but overall experience quite okay. But one thing is that it will auto quit when there is a network problem. Eg: Halfway watching on demand content, suddenly no network/ slow network, an error will pop up saying no internet and it will kick you straight back to live tv. Should have a retry button. Scrolling is a bit slow also, should increase scrolling speed when user long press up/ down button.
*
What about the delay between playing/ pausing/ forward/ rewind when playing back VOD/ my library content?

I think it’d be better to just stick with one or two companies. Wonder why, because all those boxes still have the same purpose and function. Only difference being the manufacturer.

I think they should just stick to Samsung or Technicolor. Kaonmeida seems to be good at Android TV boxes and I think StarHub is also using them too.

More like different generations of decoder have different manufacturers

There’s an update for the ultra box

Updated to

Release date: Jan 18 2021
Sprint release 20.3.1.75

user posted image

There’s something new in the settings page

Under general diagnostic
STB operating mode is satellite(self install), I wonder what does that mean

Edit: after posting this post then got another update again
But the same version and release date

The STB operating mode of Satellite (self-install) could indicate that Astro might planning to implement an alternative installation option in the future to allow the user like ourselves, to install Astro box by ourselves instead of rely on Astro installer/technicians?
Hah, they learnt the hard lesson last year during MCO 1.0, where no technical visits is allowed at all for few consecutive months, and customer that faces technical issues tend to suffer, is it?  tongue.gif

While IPTV Multicast (For installer only) refers to Astro IPTV service, where this option can't be self-installed on our own due to obvious technical reasons (Technician need to make sure the VLAN Tagging for Linear TV is up, Multicast up, IGMP Joint Test shows "Pass", which requires some skill set and not everyone knows that...)

But.... If it is self install, and does not rely on technicians.... Then how are we going to get the Astro box in the first place?
I guess is, self-collect from nearest Astro service centre, or Astro will deliver the Astro set-top-box to our doorsteps through parcel delivery?
If Astro box would to be delivered as parcel to our doorstep in near future, and then we self-install the Astro box.... ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif  ohmy.gif Hmmmm, interesting  hmm.gif
------
Btw yongtjunkit, since you finally got this software update of Jan 18 2021 (Sprint release 20.3.1.75), that means you can now utilise their "so-called" Live Pause and Hide from Continue Watching feature.
More details refer this previous post: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=100047027
*
hmm.gif, maybe in the future they would allow us to replace a faulty decoder ourselves? Would be nice to have that option, especially if there's high risk people in the house where having installer to come may not be ideal biggrin.gif

Yup, noticed that I can "live pause" already

Also noticed that upon cold boot can put the decoder out of standby mode faster than the previous version(it seems) hmm.gif

Under the settings page it says "Ultra box v1" then the software version.... sounds like a V2 is coming?

Apparently you can use “live pause” to watch live TV( with 60 seconds delay) in bad weather

Use CH+ then CH- then quickly press pause(Before the SCNA message pops up) to and then press play

Better than the play from start workaround

Mine still in 16 Sep 2020 version. Does astro upgrade the software stage by stage?
*
Not sure about that but there’s a way to force it if not mistaken

joshHD may know how usually Astro rolls out their software update

1st step is to put your decoder into standby mode and wait for auto update (this is not force update method)

Just trying my luck here.

I'm using Xiaomi mitv2 and just got my Astro Ultra Box.

My TV can't seem to play UHD channels despite my TV being advertised as 4k ready.

Anyone seem to have the same issue or has overcome this issue?

Cheers
*
The ultra box requires HDCP 2.2 for it to play 4K content, it appears that’s your TV doesn’t support that as it’s released before 2017 ( applicable to HDCP error)… seeing news results dating back to 2014

As for a way to bypass HDCP legally, you’ll need to buy a new TV or live with 1080P content

I don't think so. It seems to me that Astro's in-house channels are generally "loved" by many.  biggrin.gif
They want to make it easier for viewers to tune to the corresponding HD channel number, rather than straightaway contact customer service for answers, which I think they should have done that long ago.  sweat.gif
You are referring to KCON:TACT 3 This Korean music festival event is now an online-exclusive, since live concerts events have been cancelled worldwide due to COVID-19...

It is just like watching premium paid concerts online, but Astro subscribers can access this premium content for free.

Well I did contact astro regarding changing the remote control. I told them that I might suspect the liquid from the battery might have spill inside the remote board. He then asked me whether I did try to put a different battery or not and I told him yea and it was working. Then he ask me to bring the remote to the service centre which is at Damansara UPtown if the remote stops working. He said they will check and will change it for free if it is not customer fault. Then I casually ask him how much does the ultra box remote cost and its RM 79.90 🙄. So guys becareful when using the remote. Try to avoid dropping it too often. Unless you OK using the cheap DIY remote controls. BTW should I get the Panasonic evolta battery? I suspect either it has to do with energizer durability or the remote control board issue.
*
I think the original Astro PVR remote cost rm30, joshHD probably can confirm this

Rm80 for the ultra box remote sounds overpriced bangwall.gif

So expensive...
The internal part made from gold 😅
I think just use some others cheapo battery... Everready or panasonic also okay... Just don't buy tesco one ya... 🤣
*
I heard from a hardware shop staff,, they said that using the battery that silver color(eg: panasonic evolta) would give better performance(and may eventually fry those knockoff remote control) but if you don't use the remote, it's gonna leak... the staff recomend those battery with the black color(eg: panasonic zinc carbon) though it may not be very responsive but it doesn't leak if not in use for a long time

Not sure if it's true but my all my astro PVR remote control is a knockoff one biggrin.gif,, the original astro Ultra box already collecting dust since the day I install it 😂😂

Hi,

For existing customer that opt for the free ultrabox upgrade, does it have to tie a contract? Like 12 months/24 months...etc.

If I've been using the PVR for more than 2 years?

Can I terminate my astro account after upgrading to ultrabox within 6 months?

Thanks.
*
Ultra box upgrade is free if your Astro bill is over rm100, you will be tied to a 24 month contract

If you want to terminate then there will be penalty after you upgrade to ultra box

I believe you can just use the PVR remote with the ulti box

Not sure though, but as far as I know, ultra box can use PVR remote
