Let's not talk about bitrate today. Let's talk about what happened on 21 June 2021.

All 12 transponders from Measat 3 went "disappeared"?
I blind scan all frequencies on my satellite receiver earlier, and I was pretty shocked to see that all transponders from 10982MHz until 11682MHz have "appeared missing". Missing, as in, No signal at all.

11.7-11.9GHz is now used for SD & HD channels
So what I found out is, all SD and HD channels that were used to be on Measat 3 Ku band, has been migrated to the high Ku band range (11.7-11.9GHz), except a few handful of channels.
To most people, it shouldn't be an issue. But some users may face technical problems on its reception. These are some examples of scenario:

- For customers in apartment/condo/buildings that connects to the building's centralise antenna, and it is known that it doesn't support Ultra Box / haven't upgrade to DCSS, you won't be able to receive channels from 11.7-12.75GHz.
- PVR box users that uses Single Universal LNB, yet you use a two-way splitter to split into 2 cables to connect to the INPUT 1 and INPUT 2 ports respectively, be aware that you will experience signal conflicts when recording/watch SD and HD channels from now on.
- Ultra Box users that connects to Single Universal LNB on the satellite dish (didn't change to DCSS LNB due to some reasons), you won't be able to receive channels from 11.7-12.75GHz.

If you are affected by some of the example scenarios above, and wish to know more technical details, do reply this post on what you want to know and the solutions (cuz the explanation would be too technical and boring).

Not all channels have been recovered so far...
Astro couldn't easily accommodate all SD and HD channels into 11.7-11.9GHz range, so they have to de-prioritise some channels for the time being.
So in the meantime, channels like CH 780, 321, 400, 515, 516, 517, 610, 619 appear as SCNA (no satellite signal). Of course there are many more, especially NJOI Free SD viewers.

So, Measat 3 satellite suddenly "out of service"?
Later on, it has come to my knowledge that what appears to happen is, the Measat 3 satellite itself were suddenly "out of service" earlier afternoon?  shocking.gif
- India satellite pay-TV provider, Sun Direct, also experienced many TV channels having No Signal this afternoon. Sun Direct also uses Measat 3 satellite for some of its channels.
- All Measat 3's C band TV channels gone off air (no signal), and most of the channel providers that distributes TV channels on Measat 3 satellite, have been migrated to other satellite (e.g. Asiasat 5 or Measat 3a) so that viewers around SEA region will still be able to watch the TV channels, such as One, History, Crime+Investigation. Not sure if this is temporary or permanent.

RIP Measat 3 satellite?  sad.gif
So it seems to me that, if Measat fails to resume Measat 3 satellite operations as usual, therefore....
12 December 2006 - 21 June 2021? cry.gif

Measat 3 satellite is about 14.5 years old this year, and the expected operational lifespan of the satellite is also 15 years.
But Measat haven't announce anything yet, so I'm not sure is it even related or not... So just take it just for reference purposes ya...

Back in early 2020, Thailand's satellite company, Thaicom announced that one of their satellite, Thaicom 5 faced some abnormalities, which causes no satellite signal to viewers as a result.
The satellite were eventually retired and discontinued operations. As a result, one of Thailand's pay TV provider, True Visions, is affected too, and carried out unplanned satellite frequency changes which could impact some viewers:

Hmm hmm.gif, Astro telemarketers seems to be taking advantage of this situation now by offering ultra box to their customers

Btw noticed that the Dolby version of the audio seems to be softer than pcm on some channel like ch554

was google some of the info..

seems like Measat intend to decommission 2 satellite this year with Measat 3d.. which is the problem measat 3 & 3a

https://spacenews.com/measat-buying-single-...two-satellites/

guess
measat 3 malfunction earlier than expected...
thus creating new headache & issues for them...

edit:
visited Measat website too..
seems like got another upcoming Measat 5 too... but it's lack of info as for now tongue.gif

Measat 5 already launch?

There's been some changes on their channel list. It appears that they have fully recovered all channels including CH 780, 515, 610, 713....

Consider reboot your Ultra Box, to refresh/reupdate the channel list.

For those who tried to reboot, and still doesn't get the channels, then it's probably the 11.7-12.75GHz problem.
*
Hmm,, I wonder how they fit all the channels without measat 3?

Or measat 3 is now working ?

Hmm, it appears that you're experiencing 11.7-12.75GHz signal conflict.
Which of the following, fits your description?

Ch 400 is unavailable until I press CH+ and then CH-

But the channel icon is fox family movie

A reboot doesn’t fix this and the LNB has been upgraded to DCSS during installation

You can try Restore Factory Settings first.
If issue persists, then try clear NVRAM.
https://support.astro.com.my/question/refre...ra-box-ulti-box
*
Well both restore factory settings and “standard clear nvram” doesn’t fix the issue

Using DCSS LNB on my ultrabox, ch780 can view though

No idea what does “advance clear nvram” does, the guide doesn’t even mention standard/advance clear nvram, seems like this is something new?

Now there’s 3 option for selecting which OS to install

I think it's better that you call customer service, tell them you did all the basic troubleshooting steps but still fails.
Let them assign technician to your house and check what's wrong with it.

Besides 502, how about other channels? What else are the channels you can't watch?
*
CH 400 unless I press CH+ and then Ch-
CH147,CH321,Ch518, all radio channels

I recall that the installer actually swap to DCSS LNB and was able to watch ch780(Jan 2021)

List of SD/HD/UHD channels currently on High Ku band (11.7-12.75GHz)
By the time you see this post, the following channel list may be outdated already. Cuz who knows, the channels may be changing every minute or hour or so, since Astro is still in the process of recovering Measat 3 transponder frequencies.

**As of 24 June 2021 around 12:30 AM (UTC+8)

11735MHz
148, 261, 601, 140, 103, 344, 603, 602, 200, 203, 214, 353, 354, 355, 146, 352, 125

11775MHz
Empty (all HD channels have moved to 11642MHz, low Ku band range)

11815MHz
618, 212, 719, 718, 708, 398, 335, 392, 401, 513, 818, 223, 503, 317

11855MHz & 11895MHz
213, 346, 335, 114, 147, 129, 502, 126, 531, 149, 831, 321, 204, 518, and all radio channels (852-882)

11935MHz
551, 811, 487, 412, 555, 400, 706, 705, 112, 113, 515

12316MHz
782, 781, 780

12476MHz
319, 617, 472, 473, 474, 486, 488, 489, 318, 323, 326, 123

11735-11935MHz = Measat 3b
12316MHz & 12476MHz = Measat 3a
*
hmm.gif was able to receive ch551 but not 400( black screen, no SCNA message)

already performed the satellite frequency update +”advance” nvram reset(apparently it just reboots the decoder it seems)+ standard nvram reset

Pressing CH+ and then Ch- would then allow me to watch ch400, sometimes it would go to ch101 with the channel not found message

List of channels currently on High Ku band (11.7-12.75GHz)
For those who experiences SCNA on all SD & 4K UHD channels, as well as certain HD channels, you are experiencing the 11.7-12.75GHz (Higher frequency Ku band) signal conflict issue.
Below is the complete list of channel numbers:
**As of 24 June 2021 around 1:15 PM (UTC+8)

11735MHz: 148, 261, 601, 140, 103, 344, 603, 602, 200, 203, 214, 353, 354, 355, 146, 352, 125

11775MHz: Empty

11815MHz: 618, 212, 719, 718, 708, 398, 335, 392, 401, 513, 818, 223, 503, 317

11855MHz & 11895MHz: 213, 346, 335, 114, 147, 129, 502, 126, 531, 149, 831, 321, 204, 518, and all radio channels (852-882)
According to home>Settings>STB Diagnostics>Tuner, viewers are receiving these channels from 11855MHz transponder.

11935MHz: 551, 811, 487, 412, 555, 400, 706, 705, 112, 113, 515

12316MHz: 782, 781, 780 (These 4K UHD channels is meant for Ultra Box users that uses DCSS or SatCR LNB only)

12476MHz: 319, 617, 472, 473, 474, 486, 488, 489, 318, 323, 326, 123

Measat 3b = 11735-11935MHz
Measat 3a = 12316MHz & 12476MHz

The rest of the HD channels that aren't listed above, means it is transmitted from low range Ku band (10.7-11.7GHz), hence you shouldn't be experiencing SCNA error on those channels. But if you do, try reboot your Astro box, again.

By the time you see this post, the channel list above may be not up to date anymore.
Since Astro is still in the process of recovering its channels, especially Measat 3 transponder frequencies, the arrangement of the channels would be constantly changing every hour or so.
I also dunno what's wrong with your Ultra Box.... Let the technician come and check la. In the meantime, good luck contacting Astro customer service. biggrin.gif
To save time, straight away tell them ALL the troubleshooting steps you've done by yourself, so that they won't need to brief you all the basic troubleshooting steps from A to Z again, which you've already done it.

Alternatively, go Restore Factory Settings and change to the Plug & Play mode instead.
I notice that they duplicate & migrate 11895MHz transponder into 11855MHz.
Not sure how is this related, but probably it's to 'trigger' the Ultra Box to update the channel list or something?  hmm.gif
Anyway, since you can receive radio channels now, then you should be able to enjoy selected SD channels now.
*
Hmm, all channels are working except ch 400 which requires a workaround to work

Maybe I'll contact when they recover measat 3 satelite?

Or else, just continue use that Continue Watching Online / Switch Now method to watch that channel first la.

*
Yup, when setting to ch400 then putting the decoder to standby mode and then exit standby mode, I get black screen with no SCNA message(no switch now also), only way to get around it is to ch+ and then ch- to watch ch400

example:
if from ch551 go to ch 400, got signal - can watch

but if ch400 before restarting/putting the decoder into standby mode and then exiting standby mode- only show black screen + no audio

Yes. I did a blind scan earlier, turns out all SD & HD channels that were on high Ku band earlier due to Measat 3 satellite outage, is now back to the low Ku band frequency range (10.7-11.7GHz).
Seems that they managed to recover the satellite successfully. Good news indeed biggrin.gif

For those who experiences this, restart your Astro box. Again.

hmm.gif now that measat 3 is back it seems, does NJOI customers get a “downgrade” to SD quality on some of the channel?
