installer said his SatFinder/ Alignment Tool doesn't work with Universal sweat.gif
Whut? 😓

also he acidentally hit the satelite dish while packing
Hmm...

I belive leaving it like this mean it would be easier to lose satelite signal while raining?
If use a short RG6 cable (around 2 meters?) and connect from his sat finder to your new DCSS LNB installed at your satellite dish there, and the CNR reading is still 12dB, then yes, alignment is needed on dish and/or LNB. And you are correct, if you leave it like that, it'll be easier to lose satellite signal as it rain.

However, if the CNR reading at your satellite dish there is already high (let's say 17-18dB), you go back to your Ultra Box there, unplug the sat cable from Ultra Box and connect to the satfinder, then it becomes 12dB, that means "something wrong somewhere" between the satellite cable from your LNB to your Ultra Box. It could be the cable is too old, or too long, or somehow damaged. And you confirm there's no cable splitters or amplifiers or whatsoever is connected in between the cable connection, right?
*
hmm.gif the installer said that if can receive signal, then no issue rclxub.gif , should this even be acceptable?

CNR reading on ch393 is 12.7-12.9

These technician all same same one... just want to finish job quickly and collect their payment. Too bad that there is no SOP then certain signal quality need to achieve to complete the job. And what the technician said is partially correct, got sound got video.. then it is OK... as it is digital. You either got it or you don't get it at all, not like analogue.
*
hmm.gif , this means that during light rain, it’s going to lose signal easily sweat.gif

Without SOP, this means impossible to get better signal other than to do it yourself sweat.gif

Without knowing what's the actual signal reading when connect a satfinder directly to your dish, it's hard to make conclusions.
Cuz let's say if both the dish and LNB are perfectly aligned, but your cable condition is not good, then when the cable reaches your room, the signal reading would become weak (cable attenuation).

That's one of the disadvantage why some people may not like satellite reception. Yes, it may be reliable than Plug & Play in some ways, but they'll need to consider all these things lo..
*
hmm.gif I guess we would the losing end if we complain to Astro about this sweat.gif

The technician, did at 1st suggest switch to plug and play before trying to change the LNB to fix the issue and use the sat finder tool

True also.
For me, I'll use transponder 10732MHz as a reference. One of the channels from that transponder is CH393 (One).
That is one of the transponders with strong satellite signals out there. For me, I can get around 18 dB.

For yongtjunkit's case, he's getting a CNR reading of around 12dB, which is considered weak.
Generally speaking, if you're getting a weak CNR reading from one of the transponders where you're supposed or can get a strong CNR reading, then there's "something wrong somewhere" with either the alignment of his satellite dish or LNB, or the cable, or cable splitter (if any).
If this doesn't get rectified soon, it could happen where you may get pixelation or even completely no satellite signal from other transponders.
And that has started to happen to yongtjunkit, where he is getting "Switch to Continuous Viewing" message when tuning to CH551 Global Trekker (which is from transponder 11182MHz).
So don't be surprised if this continues to happen to other channels from other transponders after some time.

The minimum CNR reading should be 9.4dB and above. Anything lower or near that reading will result in pixelation or no signal (SCNA). If there are dark clouds, the CNR reading will gradually become lower.
To make the signal as robust as possible (especially when there are dark clouds or bad weather), try to achieve a higher CNR reading whenever possible.

The general rule of thumb is, that if you can get a high CNR reading of either one of the strong transponder signals from Astro, then basically you can assume that you'll get an almost equally strong signal across all different Astro transponders.

Anyone here having issue trying to get their access to TVB Anywhere+ back? Was able to login before 31st March 2024, but on 1st April 2024, I was not able to login to TVB Anywhere + anymore, My astro package has Dynasty Pack (Super pack Lite 3a(movies))

When contacting astro CS via whatsapp I got the following response

QUOTE
[Astro Agent] Thank you for waiting.  As per check with the relevant team , The TVB free subscription is no longer part of Chinese Favourites from 1st April , You can continue to enjoy TVB content via On Demand and TVB Jade and Astro AOD .

QUOTE
[Astro Agent] Existing app user means those paying for the subscription sir ,  You were getting the TVB for free prior to this .
QUOTE
[Astro Agent] And TVB is no longer part of Dynasty Pack .
Anyone else having this issue?

If pokemon can access it as usual, but brandonkl can't, then I suspect that Astro has a certain quota on how many users (e.g. for first few thousands of users?) can still get the continued limited-time free access to TVBAnywhere+ after 1 April 2024.

So by the time that brandonkl wants to login to the TVBAnywhere+ (which is today? shocking.gif ), their quota has been used up.

This is just my hypothesis ya...

hmm.gif I’ve tried on 1st April afternoon but can’t login sweat.gif

Who else here is experiencing the same thing with TVBAnywhere+ from Astro?
Can share when is the last time you login to TVBAnywhere before you get the "not an active subscriber of TVB Anywhere" error?
*
Mine was I think few days before, when there were mentions about the subscription got revoked few days before 1st April sweat.gif

Btw, just sent an email to wecare@astro.com.my

called the CS

the excuse / reason she gave was because my account is linked to old HD box (first gen byond box) therefore system won't let me eligible for TVB Plus

I think this is very bullshit

I never say I want to stream TVB via their newer Wifi box or whatsoever, just want to watch some TVB contents on phone or smart TVs

According to https://support.astro.com.my/question/what-...-1st-april-2024
it clearly stated that: and now, this statement of theirs, appears to be not applying to you (and probably some of others too), and now that CS is giving some ridiculous excuse.

Btw TVBAnywhere+ from Astro, has nothing got to do regardless of what Astro box model you are using.
If you're using non-Ulti/Ultra Box, then you'll need to access the service by installing the app on your devices, or use web browser on your computer.
And if you're using Ulti/Ultra Box, you can also access TVBAnywhere+ app right on the box.
It is as simple as that.

I don't think this is going anywhere. You can just consider lodge MCMC complaint now.
Astro app on Smart TV platforms (Android TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS) can only be used if you subscribe to Multiroom (Smart TV) at RM14.99.
If you don't subscribe that, you won't be able to use the Astro app that you see on Smart TV platforms.

Reported this issue to MCMC and they offered me 6 months rebate instead sweat.gif

I'm currently on Super pack 3a (Movies) with Variety, Learning and News add-ons(mini pack)

If I were to switch to the new pack would it be cheaper?

Would there be channels missing?

While remaining your Super Pack Plus 3, you can upgrade your Multiroom's PVR box to Ulti Box for free. If you want Ultra Box, you'll need to pay installation fee and with 24 months contract on the Ultra Box itself.

You can choose to remain your Super Pack Plus 3. Not necessarily have to move to Astro One packs. Or if you want, you can consider Epic Pack RM199.99, which you'll get more apps like Netflix Standard, IQIYI Standard, and also Multiroom Smart TV included.
Whether would it be cheaper, it depends you want to sacrifice Max Standard and/or Disney+ Hotstar Basic or not.

Would you still want that 2?
Also, do you still need Moonbug Kids CH618?
*
yup, would ideally would like to have both, maybe can sacrifice disney+

Nope, don't need ch618 sweat.gif

To get the same (or slightly better) offerings of what you get today on Super Pack Plus 3 (RM183) with Astro One packs, you can start with:

Astro One : Sports Pack (RM99.99)
+ RM9.99 Kids*
+ RM9.99 Variety
+ RM14.99 News & Documentaries
+ RM31.39 Max Standard**
+ RM16.84 Disney+ Hotstar Basic

* Add Kids if you still need Moonbug Kids CH618
** Add Max Standard if you want to continue watching HBO channels CH411, 412, 414, 415, as both the app & HBO linear channels are bundled together.

All prices above excludes Service Tax.
Just add whatever you need, then that's the price to pay.

Alternatively, you can consider Astro One : Epic Pack RM199.99 where you'll get all of the items mentioned earlier, plus Netflix Standard, IQIYI Standard VIP, Multiroom Smart TV, and Astro GO+.

If you intend to move to Astro One: Sports Pack, or anything that can result in a lower monthly fee, don't waste time go to My Astro, because it won't allow you to submit order (they will check whether your eventual monthly fee become higher or lower).
Call customer service to move your packs instead. Since you're on Super Pack Plus, they'll offer you retention offers in a form of monthly rebate, but may comes with new contract.

But if you intend to move to Astro One: Epic Pack, or you addon anything else that result in higher monthly fee than what you're paying now, then feel free to do so through My Astro. No need to call customer service.

hmm.gif what about sacrificing sports channel? I don’t recall anyone in the household watching sports sweat.gif

btw, I'm actually on Super pack 3a (Movies) with Variety, Learning and News add-ons(mini pack) sweat.gif

hmm.gif upon checking the "explore package" in my astro, I've noticed that Max standard is ticked and grayed out

btw, switching to the new pack would incure 24 months contract right, pricing would remain the same after 24 months?

Anyone know what’s the latest update for TVB Anywhere+? Checked the old posts that they changed policy in April 2024. Just logged in today and it says no active subscription eventho on Platinum Pack which I believe includes Dynasty.

Astro already so little customers still want to pattern pattern

Still the same link, but different reply already  doh.gif

Want to give, but not willing to give all?
If they don't want to continue giving free TVBAnywhere+ to existing subscribers, rather than giving insincere offer where "some can get, some can't", might as well just stop giving it for everyone for good.
Wasting everybody's time.  dry.gif
