Recently, there are many public College University being upgraded to University status.

wow!that is great...i am STPM leaver,i am applying to UMP as my second choice,1st is UMS.....when i tell tis to my friend,they say why to choose UMP,UMP nt so gud la like that....oh my god!why they have a such idea?

is that the quality of the KU opps is Uni good or not 1st ==" wat i know the newest rate from the ppl is that all the previous KU university get only 2 star from the reporter mean it is only satisfying only. if let me to choose i sure choose only malaysia top 4 university coz the quality is a promise. other than that i will still consider if regarding KU i will totally put it aside. |

let me answer all this question.. i am 3rd year student and final year next semester..from civil engineering.
Basically UMP offered only ENGINEERING courses...BUT after changing the name from KUKTEM to UMP,the gov decided to add more courses for the students.. New faculties is being developed today.. U will be surprised when 1st come to UMP coz the campus has many "factory look alike" building..huhu.. Actually the Gambang campus is temporary. The permanent campus will be at PEKAN,pahang and in construction. This Uni is smaller than other Elite uni coz it just 4 years old since established. Many construction is running to expand this campus. There are many facilities here..dont worry.. The hostel in here is enough for all the students. U dont need to rent houses outside the campus. The distance here is not the problem. Coz u only have to walk to the cafe,the lab,library,and classroom. No need to take a bus. Foods here are variety..u can choose yourself..dont worry.. Entertainment? mmm..this campus not far from Kuantan City..just 30km.. there u have Cinema,many others. Kuantan parade,Megamall,Kompleks Teruntum,and many others. Also not forget Pantai Teluk Chempedak for leisure time.. Ratio of race is like other public uni..of course got chinese girls..lots of them..pretty enough for u..haha.. of course... the distance between classes and hostel is about 10 minutes walking...not far..even u can catch up the lecture within 5 minutes if u walk fast enough..lolz..
Yeah..all the students staying in the campus..i am the final year student and i lived in the hostel from my 1st year. Here also got Taman Gambang Perdana located within the campus and mostly for former student. a bit far if u walk but just 2-3 minutes riding motorcycle..lolz.. Internet here is heaven..24 hours..wireless and cable available.. |

Yeah..no need to take transport to classes..even to go anywhere in the campus..just walking.. healthier and save more budgets..
The ratio of boy and girl is balanced..but due to the courses offered here which is major in engineering,i see a lot of boys here..but girls many too..huhu.. |

ptptn bank account is bank islam..u can create one or you can do it in ump later..better create by yourself first..
There are 2 hostel here.. the block and Taman Gambang Perdana.. For junior they will be located at block which is 4 students per room.. For houses at taman,8 person per house (4 room each house) which is for senior student. Mix la..no discrimination..lolz.. |

Internet connection here is moderate..not too fast and too slow..coz u have to share with all the students here.. Food is not expensive..cheaper than outside.. |

just got the letter by pos laju..that was fast..btw we have to make all th epmt first day itself/before we go there? or the registration fees first..from another state come there..mean on 1st july..i have to stay there?must pack all my things??

i received the letters today.. around 2.30pm..
by poslaju.. so fast loh.. hahaha.. inside wit bank draft n buku panduan.. who had already receive the letter, pls look at the buku panduan.. it stated dat.. page 6, pendaftaran is on 29jun.. but our offer letter wrote 1st of julai.. i also don know which wan is true? btw, may i know any hotel or motel? cos my parents wil fetch me to kuantan on 30th jun.. so need some place to over9.. is there any hotel? wat the name? Tourism Kuantan's main sightseeing attraction is the beach at Teluk Cempedak. There are also other scenic beaches popular with vacationers in the city's vicinity, such as Batu Hitam, Balok, and Cherating. Near Cherating (Club Med is located here), there is a Turtle Sanctuary. kuantan is chinese place aso.. got bah kut teh 1.. dont worried.. u can pantai teluk cempedek play.. tat beach got McDonald and KFC.. of coz those stalls aso got.. i like to drink "sai mai lou" lol.. now Kuantan got 3 mall..East Coast Mall (latest Mall alot of leng lui like to go there aso

no need to bring the iron and board coz the management of the hostel already provide those items..
At night u can go out but until 12am only..after that,the guard will not allow u to enter the campus until 6am..lolz.. NO NEED to wear tie and black shoe.. Just wear collar t-shirt and any shoe will do..as long as u don't wear jeans.. |

Me also using PC coz i am a hardcore gamer..previously using laptop.. Maybe u can store your PC at your nearest fren's house. Or maybe just lock it in your locker for short holidays. But if Semester break,i suggest u bring along your pc home.. Roommate for juniors maybe first come first serve.. So better ready to register with your frens so that u all can be roommates..lolz..only my expectation..not confirm.. |

nowadays Pak Guard and Mak Guard all good person ed.. they are not strict at all or even care wat u do unless u really do a big prob there la.. now canteen/ cafe open til 3am. a lot of ppl Dating n Berdua-duaan either at cafe or in front of the girl's dorm dat is kk3. the guards also dint care so much.. few factors that made guards don really care is got one accident in front ump where a girl die. some ppl might know the story. they also seldom check id card durin at 9 when u come in..
mech seems goin to shift to Pekan soon most prob next sem.. don worry wan2juice, u can have a beautiful LAKE and fishing.. haha.. don forget brin ur ROD along. i found out UMP has RIVER at some seclude place.. |

that couple r ump students. cos if malay guy n girl ride motor back 2gther, sure kena compaun wan ma.. so the girl ma walk from the seberang jln. ump now not strict anymore.. every 9 see ppl dating along the road n berdua -duaan inside the car in front of kk1 n 3.. |

ump is a engineering uni but now they start to receive ppl from art too into few courses such as OSH - OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY N HEALTH, PROJECT MANAGEMENT n INDUSTRIAL TECHONOLOGY. i m in project management..
at uni u can see a lot of factories n ppl wearin safety helmet, even they ride motorbike also they use safety helmet. haha.. if u r a kind of ppl that love study, ump is ur 1st choice cos no entertainment.. safe $ n cost. beside that, sometimes our uni will has mist around. cold weather. tis thread can b offical for ump la.. more ppl comin in2 tis thread. 10q spitfire. ^^ |

our uni has quite a lot of good stuff to share n benefits if u dint really mind or fussy bout it.. our dorm is located inside the uni so it is a walking distance to the class and sports area. the furthest to go class is less than 10minutes by walking.. if u wake up late, u still have time to go class on time. hehe.. sumore there is a pasar malam on every thurs night. n bla bla.. if u interested, y not give it a try? lol.. |

UMP campus if i m not mistaken, it will still at gambang. cos a lot of new building just only build n the sport centre is new. i don think they goin shift the whole ump to pekan. mayb few faculty at there n few at gambang. correct me if i m wrong.. no matter wat, gambang better than pekan cos nearer n not so troublesome. ^^

UMP campus in Pekan will be open there will be only 2 faculty open in Pekan Faculty of Electric & Electronic Faculty of Mechanical student from this faculty will comute from their hostel in UMP Gambang campus to UMP Pekan campus the journey will take roughly 1 hour ++ |

hi, i got offered to study mechanical engineering here (diploma)... 3 years.....erm i read the whole thread,
-so i assume there is no hostel in pekan?? -are they even thinking of building hostel there? -and there is only bus at 6am and 6pm to and fro gambang/pekan? -when will the diploma intake be? i am from kl.... i have lots of questions to enquire......... still in dilemma whether to take this offer or do form 6.... |

Akhirnya terlerai sudah kekusutan berhubung pemindahan ke Pekan (tapi KEKUSUTAN berulang alik plak mengusutkan minda). Rasanya ramai yg dh tahu, cuma Awang nak ringkaskan sikit beberapa maklumat penting hasil pertemuan malam Jumaat lepas kat astaka sana. 1. Surat pemindahan dh keluar pada pagi Jumaat, 24/4/09 - yg mana FKM & FKEE akan mula beroperasi pada 1/7/09 (hari pertama semester baru). 2. Polisi UMP, WAJIB tinggal diasrama kecuali ada alasan kukuh (cth Berkahwin). 3. Perancangan awal (maklumat dari wakil JHEPA dan Prof Rosli) - Waktu pagi ada 3 trip bas - Pukul 6, 7 & 8 pagi. Waktu bas balik pula pukul 4, 5 & 6 ptg (tertakluk kpd perubahan). Kelas-2 untuk FKM di Pekan akan bermula paling awal pukul 9 pagi, bukan lagi pukul 8. 4. Dua (2) hari iaitu Isnin dan Jumaat pelajar tak perlu ke Pekan. 2 hari ni khusus untuk BUKAN Subjek Mekanikal spr Matematik, English, Ko-Q, Subjek-2 UH#, Soft Skills dan len2. 5. Hari untuk Subjek Fakulti Mekanikal ialah Selasa, Rabu & Khamis shj. Jadi, 3 hari ni kene la ke Pekan. 6. Utk pelajar-2 PSM & PTA, akan ada bas disediakan pada Hari Isnin dan Jumaat utk korang yg nak ke Pekan. Bil. bas dijangka (tak muktamad lagi) 5 buah khas untuk PTA dan sbhgn. PSM yg melibatkan Makmal dan Lab. 7. Kampus Pekan tak kan dibuka pada waktu malam (awal-2 siap ni korang paham-2 la). 8. 15 org Pengawal Keselamatan akan ditmptkan di sana. 9. Akan ada Library, ICT, Bendahari, Klinik Kesihatan, JHEPA, BPA dan beberapa lagi kat sana tapi bilanagn staf mungkin sedikit sbb masih diperingkat awal. 10. Surau, Cafe, Tempat Rehat dan Internet Wi-Fi pun ada tapi mungkin tak seselesa lagi sbb masih diperingkat awal. 11. Locker utk menyimpan barang pelajar sedang diusahakan. 12. Jadual waktu dalam proses pengubahsuaiaan kali ke 4 utk memastikan perjalanan kelas, waktu rehat, waktu solat dan waktu balik tak terjejas. 13. Tempat-2 untuk menunggu bas pergi dan balik akan dispesifikkan ditempat-2 tertentu (belum diputuskan lagi) supaya memudahkan perjalanan pergi dan balik. 14. Asrama tak sempat siap lagi di Pekan sana sehingga ke semester depan (dijangka selepas bulan 12). 15. Untuk Test kene la bincang dengan pensyarah nak buat camana, tapi final exam konfirm di Pekan. Rasanya dah cover semua kut apa yg dibincang mlm tu. Ape pun, kita bersedia la dari awal. Last skali, attendance 80%, tapi yg tak hadir 20% mesti ada surat or approval utk tak dtg kelas. Sem depan peraturan kehadiran (dan peraturan-2 lain berkaitan P&P) akan diperketatkan, sbb kita akan melaksanakan ISO. P&P semuanya sem depan akan mengikut sistem ISO). Tak dtg sekali tanpa sbb akan diberi surat amaran, tak dtg kali ke 2 dpt surat amaran ke 2, then tak dtg kali ke 3 tanpa sbb, terus tak leh amik final exam or mungkin kene repeat terus. Dari segi Teaching Plan, Pengambilan Attendance, Penukaran dan Pembatalan kelas dan lain-2 lg berkaitan P&P akan mengikut sistem ISO Sem depan. Hope this will help. If u got the offer letter to go into a local uni, why u wan to take form 6 again? if form 6 u cant go into local uni, it will b a waste. now u have a chance, appreciate it. Are u a non muslim? |

i m so bored in uni now.. people is having holiday but i m in uni for Masum training. So lonely leh... now i had been in tis uni almost a year, next sem goin b 2nd year. one year so fast pass by. ^.^
so far in tis uni, everything is ok. ntg much 2 complain. now we have our new sport complex that really give benefits to the students. wat i can say is...it all depend on the lecturer the slide,tutor,quiz,test, and refrence book are in english u can always go to the new sport complex... yup...UMP is lack of entertainment and also water but it will not kill u....think on the positive side....u hav less thing to distract u from studying and one more thing UMP is not that far from Kuantan....u can always rent a car  |

there is a bus to kuantan....
u only need to wait in front of the guard post...not very far and for the weekends UMP bus also will be use to delivered student to Kuantan...off course must pay la... Public Bus-around RM3....forgot already to many price change UMP bus-RM2.50...IINM one more thing is.....UMP policy is...all student must stay in campus so u dun hav to worry about getting kick from hostel...hihihi |

Added on May 5, 2009, 1:59 pmchee, now God has given u a chance to go in local uni, y don use just take it? no body knows whether in future u can go in local uni or not.. now u have the offer, grab it. there is a lot of advatanges in this uni such as dorm is near to class ( u don have 2 take bus and it is walkin distance 5 to 10 minutes oni), now the security is not strict at all (other uni they will saman u if u dint wear matric card), u can see a lot of ppl wearin Safety Helmet when riding motorbike, throught out ur studies in ump u will b provided wit HOSTEL until u grad, big sport complex, peace, and the most interestin part is during at 9, ump is like genting cos it will surround by MIST and it is cold. if u don know how drive, u can follow ur friends go out by Rent Car (famous service in ump). if u have any enquiries, u can ask us anytime. we r willin to help u out. b4 u come, there will b an orentation on 28 June wit all those degree students and it lasted for a week. in tis week, GOOD LUCK. haha.. when u start come ump , u alwiz wan go town.. after awhile u will bored with the town. i seldom go KUANTAN ed cos really ntg there. but if u like adventure and jungle tracking, there are a lot of places for u to go such as Sg Lembing, Pancing, Teluk Cempedak, Cherating, Kelah and many more. who said u cant adapt to the uni life? haha.. i come from a place full wit entertainment but when i come here at 1st i tak biasa but slowly i can cope wit it. if bored, u can DOTA wit me or even CS. we LAN the whole uni. talk a bout water, haha.. Our uni alwiz no water. since 1year i come this uni, more than 6 times no water for few days but the last was crazy cos 8days without water. hahahaaha.. but it is fun. i go Petronas station bath wit my friends. ^^ and our uni is full wit all insects that come from the forest . UMP has 4 hostel...thier are call Kolej Kediaman or KK for short KK3 is for girl KK1,KK2,KK4 is for boy... u know la engineering uni forsure boys are more than girl tat why boy hostel is more.... KK4 is the newest hostel...it like a dorm-will be open next sems... KK1,KK3 is like an apartment-ussually for 1st year student....it has 4 floor...4 person in each room KK2-is a terrace house....each house has 4 room...each room 2 stdnt...so total stdnt per house is 8 |

at 1st i applied kk4 then i found out wireless is not comfirm, it is a dorm where there wont b any room and many more so i faster go change it. i applied kk2 now. how u know u stayin at the back there? i duno which block i staying also. btw, now kk1 is for girls ed. oni c10 and c9 is for guys. cos now girls also increasing and we guys have more places to stay so they shift the guys to kk4. if u stay at kk1, u don have to wash toilets. that wat i like bout kk1. haha.. sumore it is awliz windy so i open my door let the air come in. |

ok. hostel question easy to settle. last time i paid around rm450, it wont over than rm500 a sem (5months). Remember tis is for a room without air con and it share wit another 3person. so total is 4 person. 1 person rm 450 x 4 person for a room dat is in kk1. kk2 i m not sure but the amount wont run so much.. around rm 400 plus also. it is a house wit 8person inside. there got 4rooms and a small hall, two toilets.
as i know in kk1, room wit air con is only for international students such as China students and Master students. local students like us, i don think they let us stay even we afford to pay it. Mayb u can check tis out. cos room wit air con is really enjoyable where u can on it 24hours and u have water heater to use. normal students like us, we don have tis kind of benefits cos we pay less, we get less and WE ARE NOT INTERNATIONAL students. btw, tis coming intake u get to study wit China students but girls are limited. 5 china girls oni. haha.. so i highlight again, one room wit 4 person at kk1 and a person have to pay rm 450 for a sem. for me, i feel it is very cheap! and our policy is no students allow to stay at outside UMP unless u married. I think hostel has any prob, mayb u should ask other question that u really not sure or u feel it is important to u. so far so good.. Added on May 6, 2009, 7:30 pmi type wrong just now. I DON THINK U WILL FACE ANY PROB WIT THE HOSTEL. everything is good and fine. u said 70% u will come UMP, another 30% is for????? voice it out so i can help u or mayb others can help u too. now kk2 is open for new intake students because kk1 is open for girls ed. c13,14,15 will b for girls and guys oni can take c10 n c9. so most of the new intake will go for kk2. no matter where u stay or how many ppl in the room, u need to pay rm 450 plus. in kk2 each room is different depends which room u take. regarding bout the fees, u need to pay it b4 u come to tis uni. u will receive a book regarding bout tis uni. remember, on the 1st day, they WONT RECEIVE ANY CASH TERM!! so dont bring cash to pay fees.. pay it b4 u come to the uni. when the 1st day u arrive here, u need show them ur receipt oni. if i not mistaken, total around rm1700.
things u need to bring is - pail, pillow, bolster, bed sheet, formal shirt (3pieces would b the best), slack, tie, maggi and snack ( u can buy here but expensive a bit), bring extra fan if u think u need it or mayb u can buy it at kuantan, laptop or pc, black leather shoe and bla bla.. wat is provided in the room - mattress, table, chair, cupboard. we are not allow to cook at all in the uni no matter in ur room or outside ur room but WE CAN STEAL STEAL COOK in the room. dat wat i alwiz did. haha.. we cook maggi, pork, eggs, steamboat and many more. when u come here, u can ask ur roommates our housemates to share to buy a multi rice cooker to cook la. it cost around rm100 oni. we have washing machine, so don worry but normally a lot ppl will use. i never use it and i just wash it wit my hands oni. easy and fast. haha.. |

Ok, u need to go to Gambang UMP cos pekan is oni for classes. when u reach here on the 1st day of orientation, don worry cos there will b Pak Guard and many fasi to help u or direct u. u can see a lot of ppl so i m sure u wont lost. u know how to go gambang? after the tol, there is a turn and u should turn to UMP that is on ur left side, there will b sign board too. |

yes, go for a medical check up b4 u come here.. if i not mistaken, it will b x ray and ur health check up. btw, if u go for gov hospital, x ray took 1months to process and if go private hospital or clinic took around 1 or 2days oni. b4 u come, open an acc in Bank Islam cos here oni use tis bank and ptptn will send the $ to Bank Islam oni. b4 come, have a hair cut n don dye ur hair cos u have to take pic for ur Matric card. so u coming alone or do u have friends that get into UMP also??

so gambang is like hostel only? i tot other classes like soft skills, math, english except mechanical classes is carried out in gambang???? all i know is pekan is for mechanical related classes since the faculty is shifting there? Please do enlighten me! |

i also not very sure wit it cos i also follow wat ppl said. i m not from ur faculty too. but wat i know is Class regarding wit mechanical will b at Pekan, all those minor subjects will b at Gambang. temporary for tis sem, u will stay at Gambang hostel. 2nd sem, u will totaly shift to Pekan where u study, sleep and eat at there. If the HOSTEL FINISH BUILD la. haha.. ntg to worry so much bout shifting, UMP provide u bus to Pekan.
btw, i wan ask u something.. if from gombak go KL SENTRAL, i shall take LRT? UIAM Gombak near to the train station? |

oh is ok chee, 10q cos i m goin gombak for Hockey tournament tis 12 mei until 20th so wan to know how to go back to kl central. now im stil in uni alone, i have a suggestion for u. y don either 2mrw or sunday u come over UMP to have a look? it takes around 2hours if u frm KL. u can see around the environment and the facilities.
lilly, anything i can help u? if u wan to know more bout UMP, u can go to www.ump.edu.my or u read back my previous msg. many ppl doesnt choose ump because they dont even know whether UMP WUJUD also. |

orientation last for a week if i m not wrong. Good Luck for that whole week. the few days b4 i come to ump for the orientation i had been sick and high fewer til i unable to walk because no energy. when i register, i m recover a bit but still half dead. haha.. u need to go through a lot of department b4 u go to ur hostel. mid 9 they like to wake u up by banging the doors and ask u BANGUN BANGUN.. dat time around 4 to 5am. keep slamming the door and ask u bangun to beratur.
ok, ur course fees and hostel fees is different. but the total u need to pay is rm 1k plus la. dat wan included 1 sem fees and hostel. once u pay, u don need pay again until next sem. when u register that time, they will ask u for bank slip then ok already. easy. |

bridged siswa is a camp for every new students either in sem 1 or sem 2. it is a fun camp and u might suffer too. each camp will have around 300 students each time and it last if i not mistaken 2days 1 night oni. it will b either in sg lembing or paloh inai where u can play rakit, jungle tracking and many more. but some of my friend end up sun burn til the whole face and head change skin. so pity her.
yes, u have to take tamadun islam, it is more like about our country and sejarah oni. regarding mandarin for beginners, it is a subject under FOREIGN LANGUANGE. u can choose japanese, mandarin, arab, german and perancis. it is to help u to learn more language. |

briged siswa, tamadun islam/asia, n mandarin for beginner is the subjects that not only mechanical students wil take it, but all other faculty students as well.. for tamadun islam/asia, i heard my fren from other U also take it, so it's not only UMP students.. all local uni have these subjs i supposed.. yea, u hv to take all the subjs in order to complete ur diploma.. they arrange for u all, 1st sem take wat subj, 2nd sem take wat subj, 3rd sem, 4th sem n the folllowing.. juz make sure u register those subjs in every new sem.. these subjs not related to mechanical for sure, but u'll gain extra knowlegde.. eg, tamadun islam, u'll b given a task to make a site visit to comapany n noe their company management n so on.. my group of 4ppl made the visit to BMW, n we really learnt from it.. all the best, dude.. |

everythin is new is kk4 but it is a DORM, it is not nice to stay in an open place and it is noisy if 8 ppl stay in a DORM. i prefer house wit rooms. kk4 no place to park ur car or bicycle, all is limited. kk2 u can park the car in the house n well taken care. haha..

is there any fight from penang to kuantan can v stay at the hostel if we arrive earlier? |

there is flight frm penang to kuatan but u need to check it from the airlines.
u r not allowed to stay earlier but u can alwiz book a hotel or budget hotel to stay when u reach kuantan. kuantan to ump just 30minutes oni. if u wan ask anythin, u may ask. we r here to help u. |

now there are new campus for ur EE and Mechanical Engineering where u will have ur Core subjects at Pekan and normal subjects at Gambang campus. Pekan is new campus where there is no hostel yet so u will still stay at gambang temporary. if u wan to know more, look back few pages u may find few informations.

the uni will provide u transport go and back frm pekan and to pekan.
so dat is not a matter, the prob is it will b a waste of time and wil b tired. but ntg can b change cos akan dilaksanakan comin sem. but ump is a good place and nice environment. Added on June 20, 2009, 4:35 pmerm, many info u can b found it the few pages back. just try take some times and read and find. if u have any prob, u may ask. we are here to help u. durin tis times and orientation week, u will like blur blur and worry but trust me, after 2 or 3 weeks u will b fine and everythin will b settle. tis time intake ump takin 2300 students where it is a massive intake cos last intake was around 1300 students oni. i realise many ppl just join tis forum today to ask questions. haha.. it is free of charge.. UMP Gambang will provide the bus.

I was selected for UMP Computer Science in Software Engineering.
I would like to ask some opinion about the university. 1. The ratio of malay to chinese is really that huge? (I'm not racist, just wanna know only) 2. Lesson conducted in English or Malay? 3. How about the lecturers? Good? Superb? 4. Must stay in campus or I can stay at home? (house somewhat nearby) 5. Fee structure? I hope that someone could help me because I'm currently 50:50 either to go or not since I got scholarship to study in SEGi. |

Mostly in ENGLISH but sometimes rojak. 3. Lecturers in the uni is friendly and alwiz helpful. they will try give u the highest as they can give. 4. No students frm ump allowed to stay outside and it is UMP POLICY. unless u r married. More questions for you seniors, thanks for all your help: i. what are the living costs in UMP? ii. favourite past times of the students? iii. is it safe to keep laptop/pc in the hostel during orientation week? iv. honestly- what is the crime rate there? v. the closest supermarket with fresh groceries is? vi. got pasar malam? 1. erm. for me the living cost is not so high. let say, 1day rm 10 is enough for foods and drink. lunch rm 4, dinner rm4 and mayb water rm 2 for lunch and dinner. so 1 month is rm 350 - rm 400 included u eat those snacks or sometimes call more food. personnely, i m not so ON or like to go movies, bowling, shopping (outing). btw, in kuantan the entertainment will b very less. so it save a lot of $$. so total living costs less rm500? 2. past times? guy like me when free will play computer games such as COUNTER STRIKE, DOTA and many more using LAN. students also watch movies in their external hardisk or drama. so if can, just bring as much movie as u can so u can watch durin free time. besides that, if u r active students, u can play sports such as tennis, basketball, futsal, netball, volleyball, ping pong n badminton every evening. 3. durin orrientation week, u will hardly online or have time in ur room. u will alwiz either in the hall to hear talks and bla bla.. but it would b better if u bring laptop lock and a lock to look in ur cupboard. normally 1st week not many ppl will buy laptop or bring laptop. u can bring pc too cos u can on9 24/7. 4. i m proud of the crime rate in the ump, even at 9 u walk in the middle of road or somewhere there is dark, u don have to worry.. ntg to worry cos no ppl will snatch ur handbag or PAO u. it is very very low crime rate. but the low low crime such as u will lost ur nice shoes, laptop or money if u dint take care nicely. a lot of students dont lock their bicycle cos no ppl will steal it. that is our tradition where ppl dont lock their bike when attend class. 5. there is no supermarket around ump. but there is some kedai sell groceries at Gambang (5minutes drive frm ump). if u wan go kuantan, u can find CARREFOUR, giant, n bla bla bla.. but i take 30minutes drive frm ump. 6. yes, there is a pasar malam near ump. if u drive, it takes 5minutes, if u cycle it takes 10 minutes, if u walk it take half hour. hehe.. it is on THURSDAY night. Tis all is based on my opinion. so i might not b so accurate. anythin more? |

tuck u forgot to add....UMP already hav their own pasar malam...at dataran mekanikal....
one UMP has koperasi.....but the price is little bit pricey so i would suggest, u buy all thing u need when u go outing to Kuantan in the 1st sems i'm in UMP i only spend RM5 a day.....RM2 for lunch and RM3 for dinner..... in then 2nd sems i spend total of RM500 for the whole sems daily around RM 7 weekend dun eat much only weekday |

i think i will be going back 5/7 also....
i always eat nasi goreng daging for dinner....the kafe third from the right only RM3... i still dunno which hostel i should register....my fren said he has change me to kk1 block c10 already but when i check ump portal it stated i'm in kk4... about food....kk2 kafe price is much cheaper than kk1/kk3 kafe..... at least tat wat i heard from my rumates |

Most probably I'll go SEGi since I pay less for the course (100% tuition fee waiver), less time taken (3 years for SEGi), more exposure to Computing Stuff since I'm in KL area as in more access to certain technology such as wimax.However, if I go to UMP, I can meet you guys, more research can be done. I deeply love computing... The UMP course offered is a good one. |

ump inside got bank islam and bank muamalat. only two atm machine oni. if outside, that means it is at petronas petrol station got maybank. but it takes 5minutes drive.
regarding toilet, it depends which kk (kolej kediaman) u stay. if u stay at kk1, each floor got 1 toilet but the toilet got 4 rooms 2bath n 4 rooms to DO BIG BUSINESS. kk2 is each house got 2bathrooms. both also can do big n small business. kk1 and kk2 is oni for guys. now 60% kk1 is for girls. if kk4, i duno cos it is new hostel. |

i don't mind cleaning the toilet, as long as my roommates pitch in too. dunno which one is worse: messy roommie or finnicky one? kk3 is open to girls right? how many people would be staying in one apartment? i got confused reading the back few pages... is it 4 people in a room or 4 people in an apartment? how many rooms does the apartment have? what in the world does kk2 / kk3 look like? @_@ and, how would a freshie normally get assigned to a hostel room? is it possible for us to choose? ack... sorry for bombarding you guys with so many questions... |

Hi, I am Wan - UMP student.
Currently, there are Bank Islam ATM and Bank Muamalat ATM inside UMP. If you want to apply for PTPTN, You need to have Bank Islam Account becoz every semester PTPTN Allowance will be credited into Bank Islam Account only. However, there are also Maybank ATMs located at ExxonMobile Fuel Station and Petronas Fuel Station. ExxonMobile Fuel Station only 1 km from UMP (you need to take a U turn first) and Petronas Fuel Station is about 3 km from UMP. For FEMALE students, all of you will stay at Kolej Kediaman 3 (KK3) which consists of several Blocks. Each block at KK3 is like a 5 Floors Apartment (Ground Floor, 1st Floor until 4th Floor). There are 12 Rooms and 1 Bilik Air at each Floor. The 1 Bilik Air at each Floor consists of 4 Bilik Mandi and 4 Tandas. Mean that you need to share the Bilik Air with the members of your Floor. During my first year and second year, I stay at this apartment but at Kolej Kediaman 1 (KK1) (KK1 is for MALE students), I don't have any problem to share the Bilik Air with my Floor Members. However, I need to wake up early, If not I need to wait for my turn to use the Tandas and Bilik Mandi. The are 12 Rooms at each Floor. 4 people in each room. Mean that you need to share the room with three (3) other people. Make sure to make friend with your roommates. I believe that you can. Actually, only Fresh students can not choose their own roommates. You need to stay at any room assigned to you. Don't worry lah. Again, I believe that you can make friend with your roommates. For MALE students, I heard that all new Male students will stay at Kolej Kediaman 2 (KK2). If not, Male students will stay at Kolej Kediaman 1 (KK1) which the condition is same like KK3. KK2 is like a Taman Perumahan Rumah Teres. Each Rumah Teres have 4 rooms. 2 people for each room. It mean that each Rumah Teres consists of 8 people. last time my fees also around 1.7k....
but i only pay 1k.... i pay the rest around 4 week b4 final exam.... i cannot see my carrymark...UMP block it and must pay the rest of it so i think there is no problem not paying full amount....a lot of student dun pay full... @Advent Syracuase i think to change Uni is very hard....and takes a long time why dun u stay in UMP.....here got Chem Eng also |

i'm also got offer letter from UMP. they called me on friday afternoon(yesterday).rush like hell to get the document print, certified and open an acc at bank islam.
about the fees, i called UMP and they said i can pay them when i register on next monday. and about the medical report, they also said i can get it done in UMP too. is that true? i already tertinggal my keys once. and i even got someone to cut the wardrobe lock because i thought they were in there (but actually they weren't, really *swt*). so separating the keys is a must!
hehe, good thing we have a pasar malam here in ump. now only have to figure out how to go to the pasar malam outside... is the briged siswa subject difficult? can elaborate about the camping and the fitness test parts? |

so the solution for keys is u give some of ur extra keys 2 ur roommates, if the keys tertinggal inside the wardrobe, u can ask ur roommate help. i don think pasar malam ump is nice cos not many stalls n most of the stalls is sellin same food n stuff. haha.. sumore not much choices of food. the pasar malam outside, many ppl either walk, sewa car or cycle go.. if walk, it takes half hour but a lot of ppl will b walkin durin evenin time to go pasar malam.
briged siswa include camping, fitness test n ceramah. lastime the ceramah is provided by pertahanan awam or duno which agency. then fitness test u need to run around the complex sukan n long jump. camping will b at two places, one is at paloh inai ( i went lastime and it is not as suffer as like those at sg lembing). another is at sg lembing where u need 2 do hiking for duno how many hours. my classmate went til sun burn til all his head n face skin came off. so it will b better if u went paloh inai la. haha... |

u hav the same problem like me last time....i also very malas to bring out laptop and put it back into wardrobe...then i use those kensington lock...now i left my laptop on the table all the time about briged siswa u don't hav to worry...among my fren no one has failed....even i got an A... u must take a good care of ur keys last time my classmate forgot to bring his keys when he go to shower. when he came back the room is locked....all his rumates gone for test he also hav a test....in the end he borrow a cloth,calculator etc....luckily he aces the test |

For those whom ever wanted to study in UMP ,this palce is good but there is some miner problem such as water shortage,net freaking slow and many page they block (includes Adobe FlashDownload page ).Even if u have broadband it is no use here .If u can live with all that UMP is good for u.For me its hard bcoz i cant live without net

yep, heard rumour that ministry of health is drafting some memo to close down all the public unis. even without that, all the classes and activities are still being canceled... very tension, since nothing is getting done.
i got moved from Gf to 4f cause of this h1n1 business, all i can say is the internet line here is GOOD. i'm hoping that they'll let us stay here for the rest of the sem. for the blocked pages... i just go to block X lab (since i am under fskkp anyway) to access... so far so good. anyone bought tickets to go back for raya yet? |

this take a lot of bandwitch.....making normal internet surfing really slow.... this type of people should apply their own internet line.... there is already some student that create hosting site so other student can download move like rionixx.... why dun they download movie from there instead |

UMP is a very new university. At 1st I got this offer, I was shocked as I never come to know this Uni, thought that it never existed. Then, during the 1st week/orientation week, have to endure abit, as they rag you and do not let you sleep for a long time. Mostly slept for 2-3 hours only. After 1st week, you will feel better and better. The experience is definitely wonderful. One thing is that, we mechanical students have to take bus from hostel to the new campus to study there which is very troublesome. For example, for 8 am class in the new campus(Pekan), we have to wake up early and board the bus at 6am. This is due to ours and electrical students' lab equipments had been moved to the new campus. So, electrical and mechanical students are considered the pioneer group to study there. Moreover, in the future, more of the faculties will moved to the new campus. 2ndly, the management for our mechanical faculty do suck the most. Why??? Each faculties do have their own jackets and it is compulsory to buy them. Till now, I never received mine although I ordered but some of my friends did received them. Tough luck, I guess. Then, I still havent received my dean list cert whereas other faculties already distributed theirs. u can go out after 12 a.m....but be carefull not to get caught by guard...they are like police inside the uni...they can summon u...ussually the summon cost u around RM50 no need formal clothing...u can wear collar shirt and pant jean also allowed (at least for my Faculty) body check up...u mean medical check up? if yes....ur advised to do it before entering the uni....because in the registration day u need to bring ur X-ray to hand it to medical counter.... if dun do it...uni will arrange for medical check up later |

try look at ur offer letter...
last time my offer letter stated that registration start from 8 a.m (for degree student) from 12 p.m and onward was for Diploma holder... but it doesn't matter some diploma student register early...some degree student register late.... |

Hello guys. any of you know where is the nearest homestay to UMP which is at Gambang? i have an interview on 4th of November to pursue Master Degree. there are a lot of hotels at kuantan, but they are 30 km from UMP.
If there are taxis at 700 am at kuantan it will do just fine but I doubt it. it will take one hour approximately from kuantan to UMP. thanks. The interview is at 9:00 am. I'll go to Kuantan one day earlier by bus and I got no car or motorcycle. That is why I prefer to stay at the nearest possible location. anyone here can help me? thanks |

hi, i got diploma in computer science in UMP.
at 1st i hesitate to accept it bcoz i ve never heard of tis U and computer science was not wat i had in my mind. but many people advice me 2 take the ofter n i agreed. so hw many years would it take to finish my degree after diploma? i m frm teluk intan,perak n i dunno any1 else goin there. any advice to make me feel i m making the right choice.. |

Yup, you can't login at kk2. Somehow blocked or something (ptptn website too).
So try these steps How to login to UMP e-comm at kk2 1. Go to http://www.1proxy.de/ 2. Type www.ump.edu.my into the "web URL" 3. Login at the UMP website. |

Well, not sure for now la but the last time I tried to open up ptptn website, the problem seems to be same as the ump website. Anyhow, did the steps work for you all? I tried and it works for me but my friend didn't...
