I do agree about the manual and cvt thingy. When i test drove persona premium, my first impression is "heavy". The deadened sound from inside and the acceleration felt like engine pulling something heavy. It still manage to do nice acceleration but the heavy feel remains. On manual, it feels lighter (although it's really about 100kg lighter haha)

Dunno i noob at manual tranny or what (but i suspect it contributes as I'm not shifting fast enough) but i feel jazz accelerates faster than persona mt though. Drove both and feel the power comes readily when you demand for it.

Proton engine is proton engine. If want power,  mmg need go up to 4k rpm then the power surge comes. Below 3k is pretty sluggish / underpower.

Do tell me if i got any part wrong. Still learning manual tranny.

I think you are right, yup Proton engine is notoriously known for low torque at low rpm. There is a video of a guy testing persona Mt with vios Mt. Have a look.
https://youtu.be/B505bDvNi0c

He is abit annoying haha...

The heavy feeling is due to the TCU tuning, it is tune for efficiency, even when you floor the TCU shifting still side toward fuel efficiency. The best way to describe that feeling is like you use 5th gear manual to drive up a hill (exaggeration), is abit like that

Haha I've seen this video before. I quite like his videos actually. He trash talks a lot but he is not that bad actually (don't always mean what he say)

One part i didn't understand is the closer range between first to fourth gear should mean better acceleration right? And when he shift to 4th gear, he is within the power band range (>4k rpm) yet he seems to lose out in acceleration against the vios 3rd gear.

I'm still satisfied with this car though haha.

Ya feels like what you said. But the heavy feel also means the car feels more steady. The EPS makes the car a little too eager to turn though. Wish it's a little heavier.

Soft suspension good for absorbing the bumps but feels like a driving a boat at times.

Similarly tuned with iriz i guess, I drive iriz mt 1.6, it feels heavy below 2.6k rpm exactly, pass this rpm, suddenly feel the power kicked in. Always need to rev to 3k to change gear. 4k rpm for max torque

I'm more interested in knowing why a 2-wk-old car needs to be sent back.

Shifting in manual is always a skill related thing, consider myself still mati engine when going off the traffic doh.gif , i think 6.5k is the peak HP, all these precise figure need to be proven on a dyno, but ehhh we not racing. from the video i guess persona manual is really not a bad car, besides like he mention, his vios is slightly modded(bars or suspension but stock engine), i think is fair to say persona is on par with vios.

i really wish to buy another persona manual and lightly mod it just for driving pleasure... at the price is really worth. Who want to sell Persona manual in west msia , pm lai lai lai brows.gif

Try to use a damp cloth with hot water to wipe it off. If you have steamer like those ironing clothes, wrap the head with a microfiber towel and steam it at the white stain.

Wanna ask about the Punch CVT thingy.

1. When waiting at traffic lights, I like to leave the transmission in D, pull handbrake and let go of the brake pedal - instead of stepping on the brake pedal all the way. For conventional torque converter auto, this is acceptable as the AT fluid will be cooled anyway.
What about Persona's clutch-based CVT? Will the clutch overheat?

2. When creeping in start-stop traffic, what do you guys do? I understand from some Youtube reviews that we are not supposed to creep a clutch-based CVT car. Either fully release the brake pedal, or keep the brake pedal pressed hard. But wouldn't this cause a lot of jerkiness,as I can imagine doing that to a manual transmission car.

3. Jerkiness in start-stop traffic - is this something inevitable or we just need to get used to the car to minimize jerkiness?

4. Is the current Persona exactly the same (specifications wise) as when it was first launched, iirc, in Q4 2016?

How I avoid jerkiness is by anticipating the traffic and apply appropriate braking then I slowly accelerate if the traffic start moving. So far so good for me as I rarely feel any jerkiness.

So far I did aware anyone complaining over here. Perhaps you should send to SC for a check and report the findings here. smile.gif

Fuel Tank Cap rusty , front brake noise , dashboard noise , 1 week new car got this problems .
Fuel Tank already re-paint , but dashboard noise authorise SC said the reason is gear shift noise , but i don't think so , when noise appear , i press the plastic cover at bottom of steering , the noise gone . This is plastic part assembly problems , not solid , i don't know how to settle it .

Today , i found a " lalat " inside the tail lamp as below photo , unknown how it can found a way fly into the tail lamp .
Is the tail lamp get a " lubang " , design defect ? rclxub.gif
