Hi guys, over these few weeks i have did some mods. these mods are in culmulative order. so your results may vary, these are just my opinion
1.15inch wheel 6.5J
2. Front top tower bar & stiff ring
3.continental CC6 tyre
4.rear 16mm anti roll bar
5.reverse sensor(ori sensor just terrible weh, how many times i need to scrape my bumper)
1.RIM(RM600 with nuts and ring)
i changed my rim without changing my stock silverstone tyre. the initial feeling is that, i can feel the 4 corners are lighter, the best way to describe it is, i have remove heavy object from 4 corners of the car.
Before i install the aftermarket rim, i compare the weight is indeed lighter, how much im not sure, but definitely can feel by hand. However it dosent improve handling, just feel the car is lighter like you unloaded something, but feel a little better.
2.Front top tower bar & stiff ring(RM270+50+ 195)
got the advised from friend, install stiff ring should just install bar as well, and so i did. it feels the front stock suspension are now held strongly, the suspension now does better work in absorbing uneven roads. cornering has a little sharper responds but only if you corner hard.
3. Continental CC6 195/55/R15(RM 740, balancing, install, alignment, no nitorgen)
It is strange that i pick a comfort tyre when i did other mod to improve handling, my goal is trying to enhance this car's intrinsic good properties, like quietness and handling.
First thought on the tyres, no more spinning start. that is the biggest safety improvement just by changing tyre. silver stone has roaring sound, i wont say cc6 reduce all but has cut it down to a noticeably. driving on highway feels more comfy, more confidence in cornering even using this comfort tyre. The salesman does mention my silverstone is still usable and need not to change, but is just too dangerous to use them.
4. Rear anti roll bar 16mm(bought second hand, new priced at RM420)
If you are looking to improve your car handling this is the first mod you should do. notice i have this bar after the previous upgrades, the body roll is significantly lowered, very obvious effect. it does improve your car's handling and more importantly comfort when cornering. if you are looking into buying one, go for 19mm as new 19mm is 480 while 16mm new is 420. the thickness affect roll bar stiffness by factor of power 4{google for this info to verify}, adding RM60 from 16mm to 19mm is worth the extra as it give quite significant effect while it probably will stay on your car until you sell it off.
5. reverse sensor(RM250)
for the love of your heart arteries, please change them. find other place that is cheaper, i believe i have been scammed at that price.
Summary
1. changing rim same size as stock dosent give much advantage, just for the looks. dont bother changing them if you just drive daily, not worth it unless for the looks. Many from forums and shop do recommend going 1inch + from stock, if you are changing rim, do that.
2. i have these on together, to my experience, is not worth spending on these, for RM500 ish, save it or invest it on other area. the effect is gives just is not as significant as other parts
3. change to good tyres as soon as you can, esp on silverstone tyres. Not only they are bad, is dangerous after 50% wear, get entry level tyres from michillen, goodyear, bridgestone or continental. This is the single upgrade that will completely change how you feel about your car, nontheless , do it to ensure your own safety
4. install the 19mm ARB for best effect, it really does reduce body roll
5. Just tossed the old one, i havent have nightmare since.
Rear ARB without the front top tower, is it a pair thingy? Is it because now you have both bar, that's why the whole handling improved? If jz rear ARB, will it still give apparent handling improvement?
Reverse sensor is plug and play, if want to go back warranty can DIY. But...... The sensor is technically broken when new z for every car
So true. That reverse sensor is useless from day 1. I revert back to mark 1 eyeball and gut feelings.
