Should we pin these info as well?

Persona tire size is 185/55R15 6.5jj (premium is 7jj if i remember correctly)

And common issue: water sprinkler too low (ask sc to tune it)
I tried fixing the water sprinkler by myself previously but macam not much difference. Haha

Tidy up the first 2 posts for better viewing. Please do let me know what information should be pinned for easy reference.
*
I think the mist washer can add on, send to sc to calibrate. In case ppl think it's a permanent issue.

I have cleaned up all the codes and arrange it accordingly. Now I am thinking to put more info for all the members to find information easily rather than searching in the forum.
*
smile.gif I meant it as a compliment. Sometimes I read other threads to see what issues do other car makes may have. However, their first page is often rather empty.

So I really like our first page. Of course, if there are more information to be pinned to be first page, that would be better but I think there are not that many mods (since the car is still pretty new and not many people want to risk warranty issues) and most of the issues from first batch have been resolved. Like I don't hear any rattling sound from persona which have been plaguing persona vvt previously.

On a side note, if there are any good recommendation of HU upgrade (and the place that can do it without involving wire cutting) that would be good information also.

I kinda want to add the rear speakers to the car (mine is standard variant) but don't know which speakers to go for and don't know where can get it done without risk of the shop cut my wires (and tell me they did not cut it)

Why did I buy a Persona?

I wanted a manual car (and I'm not rich)
That will remove stuff like civic type R.
Leaves us, vios, almera, perodua and proton persona / saga.
I was using a Saga BLM and therefore, I wanna upgrade to something better (size and feature). So that strikes out axia, bezza and saga. Leaving almera, vios, persona and myvi.

For manual standard variant, only persona offers good features and safety is not really a luxury package as the standard variant has most of the safety features as well. Meanwhile, other cars require me to purchase the top of the line to get esc or hill start assist and etc.

So it became no brainer for me on which car to choose. Even if I'm not looking for manual, the premium persona offers a lot of features for a lot lesser in price.

Rear seat comfort is one of the reason why I choose persona as well, as I tend to drive people around and I've sat in cars which offers very little thigh support. Those cars are really uncomfortable during long distance. Persona rear seats are slightly inclined too. Perfect for long journey.

Sound proofing? The stock persona has already been sound proofed. It sounded really deadened inside the car. Go to showroom and try driving it. Also open the front bonnet. See how much sound proofing material they placed around the engine compartment.

Proton reliability? Read around other car forums and you realized persona problems is around the same as other car makes, if not lesser. I used saga BLM and although I sent the car to workshop a lot of times. Most of it is around the area where I crashed (one of the reason why I insist on safety features). The parts that i did not crash, lasted me pretty long. So I don't feel proton is as problematic as public perceives it to be.

For future proton persona owner, one thing you need to take note is, parking sensor is really slow. Get the premium variant for the reverse cam if you really need parking assistance. For me, I resort to mark 1 eye ball. Lol

Totally agree on the sound proofing part, try remove the door panel, the rear boot spare tyre, very thick soundproof material comes as standard already.  But one my frd complaint to me, persona sound proof is terrible. Well I think some of them dunno how to different CVT noise and external noise..

Yawo. I think engine sound fairly acceptable below 3k ar.. only above 3k it's more audible. (Then i start cranking my radio volume up. Hehe)

After driving the new persona for a bit more than a year (1year and 1month) I would say this is the last Proton car I'll ever buy.
One of the main reason I bought new car instead of second hand Honda/Toyota at that time was hoping that new car will give less headache or at least if there's anything broken it will be covered under warranty for the first few years. Now they start to told me this broken that broken and warranty are only 1 year, so I have to pay.
Sorry for the negatives view, just want to let it off my chest.
*
That's sad to know. What're the broken items?

Hi guys, over these few weeks i have did some mods. these mods are in culmulative order. so your results may vary, these are just my opinion
1.15inch wheel 6.5J
2. Front top tower bar & stiff ring
3.continental CC6 tyre
4.rear 16mm anti roll bar
5.reverse sensor(ori sensor just terrible weh, how many times i need to scrape my bumper)

1.RIM(RM600 with nuts and ring)
i changed my rim without changing my stock silverstone tyre. the initial feeling is that, i can feel the 4 corners are lighter,  the best way to describe it is, i have remove heavy object from 4 corners of the car.
Before i install the aftermarket rim, i compare the weight is indeed lighter, how much im not sure, but definitely can feel by hand. However it dosent improve handling, just feel the car is lighter like you unloaded something, but feel a little better.

2.Front top tower bar & stiff ring(RM270+50+ 195)
got the advised from friend, install stiff ring should just install bar as well, and so i did. it feels the front stock suspension are now held strongly, the suspension now does better work in absorbing uneven roads. cornering has a little sharper responds but only if you corner hard.

3. Continental CC6 195/55/R15(RM 740, balancing, install, alignment, no nitorgen)
It is strange that i pick a comfort tyre when i did other mod to improve handling, my goal is trying to enhance this car's intrinsic good properties, like quietness and handling.
First thought on the tyres, no more spinning start. that is the biggest safety improvement just by changing tyre. silver stone has roaring sound, i wont say cc6 reduce all but has cut it down to a noticeably. driving on highway feels more comfy, more confidence in cornering even using this comfort tyre.  The salesman does mention my silverstone is still usable and need not to change, but is just too dangerous to use them.

4. Rear anti roll bar 16mm(bought second hand, new priced at RM420)
If you are looking to improve your car handling this is the first mod you should do. notice i have this bar after the previous upgrades, the body roll is significantly lowered, very obvious effect. it does improve your car's handling and more importantly comfort when cornering. if you are looking into buying one, go for 19mm as new 19mm is 480 while 16mm new is 420. the thickness affect roll bar stiffness by factor of power 4{google for this info to verify}, adding RM60 from 16mm to 19mm is worth the extra as it give quite significant effect while it probably will stay on your car until you sell it off.

5. reverse sensor(RM250)
for the love of your heart arteries, please change them. find other place that is cheaper, i believe i have been scammed at that price.

Summary
1. changing rim same size as stock dosent give much advantage, just for the looks. dont bother changing them if you just drive daily, not worth it unless for the looks. Many from forums and shop do recommend going 1inch + from stock, if you are changing rim, do that.
2. i have these on together, to my experience, is not worth spending on these, for RM500 ish, save it or invest it on other area. the effect is gives just is not as significant as other parts
3. change to good tyres as soon as you can, esp on silverstone tyres. Not only they are bad, is dangerous after 50% wear, get entry level tyres from michillen, goodyear, bridgestone or continental. This is the single upgrade that will completely change how you feel about your car, nontheless , do it to ensure your own safety
4. install the 19mm ARB for best effect, it really does reduce body roll
5. Just tossed the old one, i havent have nightmare since.
*
Rear ARB without the front top tower, is it a pair thingy? Is it because now you have both bar, that's why the whole handling improved? If jz rear ARB, will it still give apparent handling improvement?

QUOTE(littlegamer @ Apr 14 2018, 02:45 PM)
Reverse sensor is plug and play, if want to go back warranty can DIY. But...... The sensor is technically broken when new z for every car
*
So true. That reverse sensor is useless from day 1. I revert back to mark 1 eyeball and gut feelings.

It is said that RWD car got best effect from front bar. And FWD rear bar.
I don't refute the idea a pair of strut makes the car feel better. But you will notice more from just ARB. Strut bar doesn't need to come in pairs or in certain combinations. Other car forums suggests that installing strut bars wrongly might even have negative effect.
But the rule of thumb, go with ultra racing stage 1, you won't overspend or go wrong. And ARB give most effect if you have no mods to begin with.
*
Ooo as much as i like to stay stock, the body roll of this car taking corners is soooo apparent.. sad.gif another thing is the rear suspension, feels very springy, if go across bump a little too fast, can feel the items in my boot being launched up a little.. wonder is ARB can solve both or solve mostly the first one only.

I only realized recently, even std variants got slight logic behind the wiper speed. When driving, the wiper speed is as you selected. But when you pulled to a stop at traffic light or etc, it will drop to one speed lower.

E.g., heavy rain, you set wiper speed to fastest, and when you reach traffic light, it will be slowed down to normal. If it's light rain, then it will go from normal to intermittent.

This feature on top of the variable intermittent speed is really a nice touch from proton. *Thumbs up*

guys anybody changed to Conti CC6? want to ask in terms of noise and vibration, how is it compare to the stock silverstone tires?
*
Almost anything is better than stock Silverstone, I believe.

Just a matter of improve by how much. I think CC6 is a solid tire (as in a good tire choice that you can't go wrong with)

I've not used them yet, so I think may need other CC6 users pitch in their reviews

Anyone face this problem before? It happen to my brother in law CVT Persona since yesterday...
*
Happens to my manual once also. I forgot what i did d. Forgot i rev it again or i push it into gear then release back again. Then it went back down again. But yours is really high. Almost 3k. Mine was like 1.8k at N.

Do tell us if you found the root cause.

Just sped up to genting through batang kali. The car feels quite under power even in L, can keep up with myvi but really felt like this car should have manual transmission instead of cvt
*
I do agree about the manual and cvt thingy. When i test drove persona premium, my first impression is "heavy". The deadened sound from inside and the acceleration felt like engine pulling something heavy. It still manage to do nice acceleration but the heavy feel remains. On manual, it feels lighter (although it's really about 100kg lighter haha)

Dunno i noob at manual tranny or what (but i suspect it contributes as I'm not shifting fast enough) but i feel jazz accelerates faster than persona mt though. Drove both and feel the power comes readily when you demand for it.

Proton engine is proton engine. If want power, mmg need go up to 4k rpm then the power surge comes. Below 3k is pretty sluggish / underpower.

Do tell me if i got any part wrong. Still learning manual tranny.
