Does the Persona have a bulb-failure (example, brake light, indicator, tail lamp..) warning on the MFD?

QUOTE(SKYjack @ Apr 25 2018, 08:10 AM)
Took Grab car ride yesterday. It was a new Persona. I sat at the back seat. My comments:
1.Back seat is spacious. I'm 6ft, had good leg room.
2.Seat was soft & comfortable
3.Air con was cool, it was a hot afternoon.
4.Ride quantity was good - quiet & comfortable.
*
How was the rear fixed headrest? Did you find it comfortable?

This might have been repeated. Regarding moving from stop Jerking issue, hold your brake and put to D, give it 1 or 2 sec, then press your pedal.
Clutch base cvt need some time to adjust, just like a manual transmission. If you change from N to D and accelerate is very likely gonna jerk.
*
I thought you need to release brake, wait 1-2 seconds then accelerate?

QUOTE(croydon @ Apr 25 2018, 07:20 PM)
from manual only got signal light bulb failure warning

Signal bulb failure is easy to detect because it will flash at higher frequency. Since there is already such CANBUS feature, it's strange why P1 did not include other bulbs, especially since Persona uses regular filament bulbs which have shorter lifespan compared to LED.

ahhh i see.
i think the key here is, dont accelerate right after shifting N to D from stop. i have a habit of putting in neutral at traffic light and hand brake, just before the car infront move, i release hand brake, hold my brake, shift N to D(wait pulling feel from the gear), then accelerate, no jerk
*
I read the thread about CVT adaptation. When you step on the brake in D, or put to N, the solenoid will deenergise and disengage the clutch - something like how we disengage the clutch on a manual car. When brake is released, the hydraulic oil will be supplied to clutch to engage it.
Hence, if we tekan accelerator straight away, it will jerk because the clutch will engage quickly instead of being allowed to slowly engage by allowing the hydraulic oil to slowly pressure up。

Didn't pay much attention to that. I wonder would the headrest partially block drivers rear view?

Overall I felt quality & finish of the car is good. With Lotus tuned suspension would expect handling to be good too. Well built small family car at a reasonable price.
*
From my experience, those detachable headrests tend to block our rear view, compared to fixed type. However, imo, they offer better protection and comfort.

Mind sharing what discount we are looking at now? AFAIK, the 5-year free service is no longer available.

so unfair to Persona

As part of the promotion, the kit is provided free for the Persona 1.6L Premium CVT variant, while all 1.3 CVT variants of the Saga – Standard, Executive and Premium – get the styling package as well.

However, the offer is available for a limited time only – until the end of May 2018. After that, the bodykit for the Persona will cost RM1,900 and RM1,800 for the Saga. Another thing to note is the gunmetal colour for certain parts of the kit are only available during the promotion and will revert to their original colour scheme after then.
*
Maybe 1.6 premium tak laku. I'd rather they include DRL instead of body kit that is unlikely to turn a toad to a swan.

discount from proton is RM1000+ some persona discount from Sa itself
difference model have difference , let me know which variant you are looking ya
btw no more free service for persona

Wanna ask about the Punch CVT thingy.

1. When waiting at traffic lights, I like to leave the transmission in D, pull handbrake and let go of the brake pedal - instead of stepping on the brake pedal all the way. For conventional torque converter auto, this is acceptable as the AT fluid will be cooled anyway.
What about Persona's clutch-based CVT? Will the clutch overheat?

2. When creeping in start-stop traffic, what do you guys do? I understand from some Youtube reviews that we are not supposed to creep a clutch-based CVT car. Either fully release the brake pedal, or keep the brake pedal pressed hard. But wouldn't this cause a lot of jerkiness,as I can imagine doing that to a manual transmission car.

3. Jerkiness in start-stop traffic - is this something inevitable or we just need to get used to the car to minimize jerkiness?

4. Is the current Persona exactly the same (specifications wise) as when it was first launched, iirc, in Q4 2016?

Anyone know what is the purpose of a T10 bulb? Some friend said need to change T10 to LED. Not sure what it help.
*
T10 is the size of the bulb. You can google for pictures.
Changing to LED is mostly due to the "cool" factor - not literally speaking. Of course, LED bulbs do run cooler, have longer life span and consumes less energy (although the return on investment may not justify the energy saving part).

Hi, does anyone have an idea roughly how much is the OTR price for Persona Premium after the GST deduction? Thanks!
*
The SA quoted an additional discount of RM1k by Proton. Please take note that the insured value can probably go lower instead of what is shown.

What it mean by slow CVT response?
Does it mean gear change to D already, take 1 secs before gear engage?
*
Most likely the time it takes for hydraulic oil to pressure up and engage the clutch after he lifts his foot off the brake pedal, and the pickup after that.

When reversing the car at the slope, do we really need to heavily press the accelerator? My car doesn't even move until i press the paddle so much. Light press doesn't work at all.
*
I used to stay at a house with steep sloping driveway. I really had to rev a lot more to reverse in compared to driving head in. Not a Proton, but it was the same for all the cars I tried.
I believe it has to do with gear ratio.

Till now, only 2 times in the span of 1 week. But both happened when I was cruising on expressway. One during night time, one during day time.

The temperature meter shows 5 out of 7 bar. When it rised till that level, the aircond suddenly stop to function.
*
Could be air in cooling system. It should self vent but do check your coolant level at radiator cap and expansion tank (when cold).

Or coolant thermostat sticky and occasionally fail to open more

Hi guys.

My ride has broke down yet again. 2 weeks prior, I've already sent my car into SC due to overheating where the temperature rise up till the warning indicator pop out. They insist the problem is due to the fan motor not functioning well, so they replace that part only.

Only to found out 2 weeks later, the same issue happened again. I was on my way back from Melaka to Cheras, was cruising on highway only at 100~110 km/h; where suddenly the temperature rise till the warning indicator pop out.

My question to fellow drivers and experts, what can cause temperature to rise? Since the fan motor has been changed, that can be rule out for now. I check the water & topup, however it didn't solve the issue. Checked again once reached Cheras, the water only went down by a little. So I doubt there's any leaking there.

Already lodged an official complaint to Proton. Awaiting their reply and due action on this issue. I'm already tired of bringing my care to SC, yet the issue is not rectified properly sad.gif
*
When the temperature hit high, did you notice if the fan was running when you stopped the car?

Even if fan failed, it's unlikely to cause high temperature at highway speed due to the draft you get through the radiator.

My suspicions :
1. Intermittent water pump failure/jamming
2. Faulty temperature sender/sensor
3. Sticky thermostat that reduces coolant flow

NEW UPDATE as at 12/Oct/2018.

COSE via Puan Nasyitah found out that my radiator is rusty. Due to that, they will replace the necessary part and will update later by Monday, next week.

Thanks.
*
Hopefully they drop the thermostat to check, in case rust blocks the coolant flow. The thermostat probably sees the most pressure drop as it's essentially similar to globe valve and this is where sediments, or worse, pieces of rust can get trapped there.

Not necessarily bro. It's more of a matter of them caving in to customers preference. Cvt is good for those who know how to use it well. And when used well, it potentially has better power delivery than a 5AT.
*
This clutch-based CVT really needs getting used to, because once you release brake pedal, the power starts building up. I'd imagine its hassle in start-stop traffic. Creeping will also wear out its clutch.

If you value safety, the best value would be the premium variant.
