QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ May 18 2025, 07:10 PM) Unplayable? No, but you will end up making lots of concessions in terms of visuals because of the limited VRAM - even one of your screenshots already proved that, with future titles may make things even worse Here is my settings. No concessions made with no loss of visual effects vs Youtube gameplay videos.Seriously, 8GB VRAM doesn't really belong to any modern GPUs these days outside of being an eSports card, and even if they do they'll have to priced and name them correctly which both AMD and Nvidia failed There's also the pricing problem too - at USD379 for the 8GB model it's just plain awful, especially it's effectively a 50 series card being marketed as a 60 card (see Gamers Nexus on GPU shrinkflation) ![]() While 8GB is a limiting factor if want to turn on all features, its mostly the GPU chip that will be the limiting factor of perf/ FPS rather than VRAM. You can give a 3050 24GB VRAM and it will still perform pisspoor at 4K. And while i agree 8GB 5060TI price is awful, it isnt unplayable mess that reviewers are trying to pull. QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ May 18 2025, 07:12 PM) Did you even look at current GPU prices? The 5070 Ti costs basically RM1.5K+ over the 9070 XT right now, with the 9070 XT performing quite close to it outside of RT Did you? 5000 series are coming down fast to saner levels. With luck a 5070 can be had below MSRP. Meanwhile AMD Msia still smoking weed when pricing their Radeons here. Based on global MSRP it shouldnt be more than RM 3300 but here your looking at 3900 which is same price as 5070TI with poorer value. The 5070 is certainly better of course, but do you want to pay RM2.5K for effectively a 4070 Super with the potential problems of running out of VRAM for future games? Those are not cheap cards mind you This post has been edited by babylon52281: May 18 2025, 10:23 PM |

My experience with the RTX 50 series so far has been positive. I’ve been on it since early February. Based on Sun Cycle’s price, I don't think I ever overpaid. Story time... I pre-ordered the 5080 from a "reputable" store in Lowyat back in January. They weren’t sure which AIB brand would arrive first but this was what I got first week Feb: ![]() The 5080 reviews were generally positive although some pointed out that 16Gigs of VRAM might not be enough. Games like Indiana Jones and Star Wars Outlaws pushed the VRAM to its limits when maxed out (and when it hit me, it was a slideshow, surprised how easily it hit with these new titles). I’m using a Samsung Neo G9 57 (7680x2160@240Hz). My previous 4080 could only run 8K wide at 120Hz. Finally seeing 240Hz working with MFG in supported games was a big moment. The performance was simply magical when MFG worked. About three months later, I decided to go all in with my dream build 😎 My last custom DIY setup was over 10 years ago. Back in 2024, I had the 9800X3D (my first time not choosing Intel!) in mind and waited for Nvidia’s top-tier GPU which turned out to be the 5090. Fast forward now May 2025. The 9800X3D and 5090 build is complete and it’s been nothing short of extraordinary on the Neo G9 57. ![]() Here’s my journey in order: - Bought the Neo G9 57 in 2024, but the 4080 wasn’t enough (expected as much) - Kept the idea of a new build in mind for 2025, more of a personal goal than a need - Upgraded to the 5080 - Sold off my 3090 + 4080 to help fund the new setup (both 'cheap' OEMs with no warranty but a little surprised by the demand + price it reached) - Built a custom PC with the 9800X3D and 5090 - Decided to keep the 5080 with my Dell 11900k gaming PC as "spare" and display relegated to my old 3440x1440 144Hz and in common/work setup area This post has been edited by defaultname365: May 18 2025, 11:42 PM arslow liked this post

Already know 5060 is bad before the review. It is worth only 50% at best. This post has been edited by TristanX: May 19 2025, 10:51 PM |

QUOTE(chocobo7779 @ May 18 2025, 10:41 PM) It was 2 years ago when the doom & gloom of 8GB cards was foretold its ending. I really doubt AMD is responsible for the street pricing here The prices you quoted below is the local MSRP 9070XT pricing which is still above global prices and yet try to find it, good luck as its all sold out. Only those 3900 models are still hanging around and if reports are to believed, AMD AIB has stop producing/selling MSRP models so buyers will have to stomach these overpriced cards unless AMD does their famous steep price cuts months later... again! You can already get one at RM3499 (possibly even cheaper on brick and mortar shops), which is slightly more than what you mentioned |

QUOTE(TristanX @ May 20 2025, 12:15 AM) Try Viewnet Many of these lowyat price listings are very deceptive, often the quoted CPU and/or mobo prices are for bundling together (in very small print), and if you ask over the counter, individual price will be different. Its not a recent scalper thing but its been the practice for a long time i seen, still not good if the prices for each differs a lot.https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_6j...feUULTGxIjPEFpo You have to go to physical store to find good deals for new products. Solid, Shadow, Ventus, Prime, GamePro are MSRP baseline models. What I meant OC models are the Amp, the Trio, TUF, Gamerock models which arent the high spec but one tier above MSRP model. Depending on the price gap between them, some of these higher tier models might worth it due to its better cooler others its way to highs. It depends. |
