i also got a call from flextronic to interview for position analyst programmer. i also have distance problem... shah alam a big far for me...

Hi everyone!

I just want to ask if Flextronics is good company to start? I just graduated this year. This is my first job as process eng. Please give advise on my career path... thanks...

A few questions like

1. How is working environment inside? (political?)
2. Increment ok?
3. Very tough work? Need stay in office late?

please comment...

Which plant are you in??
It's definitely a good company for you lor...work in a CM defintely enable you to learn a lot as a freshie in fast track...

1) About the working environment, everywhere also same...depends on ur social skill..
2) The starting pay already a good offer...about increment, never heard bout it, but i assume it's ok and on par wif the market value..
3) As a process engineer, i guess u might feel some pressure from management + customer... The OT allowance is high compared to mine

for fresh grads, 2.4k.

I wonder anybody actually aware that Flextronics in Penang shut down very frequently.

The most important thing is... It deducts employee annual leave during shutdown period. The frequency of shutdown is about 1-2 days a month.

New hire has no annual leave during probation period. End up... the new hire will have negative annual leave!!!!

As such... employee is forced to apply unpaid leave whenever they need to on leave...!! OMG~~~~

Isn't this violate Malaysia Labour Law??

Added on April 30, 2008, 9:11 pmWorking environment in Flextronics is very strict where you have to scan-in-out everyday punctually before 8 am. Their cultural is... even 8 am is considered late. Every month end you will receive a scan-in-out report, you and your supervisor have to sign...

If unfortunately you are short of 1 min, your salary will be deducted by 1 day. You will then receive an unpaid leave report - where you have to get the signature of IT director & also VP of asia in hardcopy..... @#@#!@#

I guess you must be working in Flex and are very unhappy with recent policy to force employee to take AL. There is nothing you can do about it as i believe your company is having difficult time now.

I never know they do that. I work in flex shah alam and we come in at 8.30am. However I realize that my team , most of them arrive quite late about 8.45 till 9am ..... not only my team but the rest also ...i dun see any prob with it .

I see... so it's different cultural at different plans for Flextronics.
What I'm commenting is about the Flextronics in Bkt Myk.

What about shutting down?
How frequent is it in Shah Alam?

wat is the diff??, i left one of the biggest corp in the world after 3 mths n my replacement left after 1 mth

Bkt Myk plant! I thought Penang Island one.

I got employer request from them also, for System Analyst post...seem they are quite lot of vacancy available.. how's the job scope/working environment/company culture etc? Anyone?

About Flextronics Penang - formally knows as Solectron Technology

We have all together 4 plant (original Solectron ) + 1 plant original Flextronics and recently 1 plant original Flextronics close down, this means we have 5 plants, this status as Nov 25th 2008.
In Penang we have a company call Vista Point , which is a R&D platform ( camera module) located in Bukit Jambul.

Plant 1 - at Perai ( next to PBA )
Major Customers : Sun Microsystems, Xyratex, IBM, LSI,

Plant 5 - at Nagasari ( near to canon )
Major Customers : Acatel Lucent, Nortel, Honeywell, Telsima, Otis,


Plant 2A/B - at bukit minyak 2 Big building
Major Customer - CISCO


Plant 3 - at bukit minyak opposite Plant 2A/B
Major Customers - Intel ( this plant on the process of closing down soon )

He is chiness guy, but non of the chiness guy like him .... 95 % is chiness in his department, 4.5% indians, 0.5 % is Malay.
All the top level people in his department is HIS relatives, most are ladies age above 45 - 50 years old, working here for 15 yrs and more ..... We also have contract workers, from PENTRAC ..... working as HELP DESK ...Salary about RM1200 ++

Talking about .NET Programmers -- 100 % CHINESS GIRLS .... ZERO GUYS ....

Networking - 95% Chiness Guys .... 5% CHINESS GIRLS

IT Support Team - 30% indians guys - 69 % chiness guys and 1% malay guys ..... ( total malay person in this department is 2 person all in )

You make the decision ..... YOU WANT TO JOIN IT Department ?

HI Jjoblessnoob , FYI , i been there exactly 6 month ,and i resigned .

Today ...
1st batch, ~ 30 employee ( mix ) received VSS. IT received list of name to be removed from Flextronics email address book.

Non (Cisco Project ) Feb 12-01-2009 is plant shut down, other monday's will be advice soon.

Bukit Minyak (CISCO Project ) Plant Shut down --- Every Monday until end of MARCH.

I heard that one of their plants has already shutdown completely and turn into some kinda warehouse?

this is bad, frm today lunch with some friends, heard their company will have long shut down during CNY, long = 2-3 weeks

Thats really bad.Slowly i think will see more of this happening in Malaysia.More frequent shutdown...
