About Flextronics Penang - formally knows as Solectron Technology

We have all together 4 plant (original Solectron ) + 1 plant original Flextronics and recently 1 plant original Flextronics close down, this means we have 5 plants, this status as Nov 25th 2008.
In Penang we have a company call Vista Point , which is a R&D platform ( camera module) located in Bukit Jambul.

Plant 1 - at Perai ( next to PBA )
Major Customers : Sun Microsystems, Xyratex, IBM, LSI,

Plant 5 - at Nagasari ( near to canon )
Major Customers : Acatel Lucent, Nortel, Honeywell, Telsima, Otis,


Plant 2A/B - at bukit minyak 2 Big building
Major Customer - CISCO


Plant 3 - at bukit minyak opposite Plant 2A/B
Major Customers - Intel ( this plant on the process of closing down soon )


Original Flextronics - next to Plant 1
Major Customer- HP doing printer

Chiness Guy - VICE PRESIDENT 1 ---- for IT Department ( Penang, SH ALAM , PTP , ) for Asia and Global.
He is chiness guy, but non of the chiness guy like him .... 95 % is chiness in his department, 4.5% indians, 0.5 % is Malay.
All the top level people in his department is HIS relatives, most are ladies age above 45 - 50 years old, working here for 15 yrs and more ..... We also have contract workers, from PENTRAC ..... working as HELP DESK ...Salary about RM1200 ++

Talking about .NET Programmers -- 100 % CHINESS GIRLS .... ZERO GUYS ....

Networking - 95% Chiness Guys .... 5% CHINESS GIRLS

IT Support Team - 30% indians guys - 69 % chiness guys and 1% malay guys ..... ( total malay person in this department is 2 person all in )

Those who have annual leave, will be deducted the annual leave, for those with ZERO annual leave will be given 3 days of advance annual leave and after that pay cut ....

Today ...
1st batch, ~ 30 employee ( mix ) received VSS. IT received list of name to be removed from Flextronics email address book.

Non (Cisco Project ) Feb 12-01-2009 is plant shut down, other monday's will be advice soon.

Bukit Minyak (CISCO Project ) Plant Shut down --- Every Monday until end of MARCH.

AFFECTED on wht ? VSS ?
VSS was given out; mix department ~ 30 people got it.

IT is not a good place to work in FLEXTRONICS, IT Department is a " WORST " Department in Flextronics, you don't trust me !! than I'm sorry for you. I give u you 1 simple example ... Flextronics employee given a option of " Flexi working HRS " 8 am to 8.30 am but for IT Department you must CLOCK in at 8 am and no Flexi HRS .. you will be leaving in diffrent world.

TeMBaKau - Shah Alam will fully close down by end of March, its around the corner, I guess by now the employee should know the % that Flextronics offers the employee ... I mean the VSS ... 1 yr 1 month or 1.25 of more ..... any idea, don't mine share over here ..

YES, Flex Penang(Global Operatin, P1A,P1,P3,P5) is giving VSS @ 10% from each departments, and at Cisco (Infrastructure P2) @ 20% of VSS at each department. Last Friday at 3 PM all the name has been submited. ... Rules is Last in First Out and follows with volunteers, by end March is last working day ...

Insider news ? YES
Vista Point ? Im not sure, Doesn't fall in Global Operation neither Infrastructure ..

Flat rate @ 1 yrs service 1 month salary , but not sure Flextronics Shah Alam

Yap, but they are looking into Last in First Out and follows with volunteers ...., if not meeting the quota ...than picking process...

There is no updates on FLEXTRONICS Penang since Mar 31 2009

Let me update something here.

All Plants in Penang is getting back to normal ... start working to 5 days a week, but don't know for how long.
For Plant 2 ( Cisco ) still shut down every Monday till June 1st. ... if you have A/L than they cut A/L if you don't have ... they give Advance Leave ... if over the Adv/L ... than pay cut ...as usual.

You guys know, Nortel declare Bankruptcy .... so this Customer is facing out from Flex ... by stages ... and will Phase in ... to " J "
So " J " employee should update this ...
