its quiet refreshing to see a CEO like you speak very loudly against such low pay for fresh grad. And its disgusting to even read theres some idiots actually agree that a fresh grad deserve no more than 2.5k in KL

just wondering, how much is the company that you're working for willing to pay for a fresh grad? be it whichever department it is, as long as it requires a bachelor degree.
*
I asked the same question, and he replied RM3k - 3.5k in 2013. Not sure why 2013 specifically, his company not hiring fresh grads anymore ? hmm.gif

In the end he is talking about those really good grads. Obviously good grads have the world as their oyster. If KL offer RM3.5k, Singapore is offering SGD3.5k and Australia is AUD5k. (example for freshie who has a Masters in Civil Eng).

His post is not about people who just manage a pass in a non-rigorous subject. But these people are still needed for things to run, ie: Front Desk Supervisor, certified technician etc. Imagine if a hotel pays every starting staff RM2.5k (minimum wage RM1.2k), will you be willing to pay 2.1x the prices for the EXACT same thing ? RM300/night becomes RM630/night for the same thing. sweat.gif

QUOTE(Frank3 @ Oct 6 2020, 04:00 PM)
Although my career is not the best among the member here, I will still post my employment history with salary for those who wish to start their career in Singapore especially as IT professional.

Company A (Software QA - Oil And Gas Industry)
24 yo, Apr 2014, SGD2500 (Contract)
24 yo, Jun 2014, SGD2700 (Convert to permanent, 13th bonus + variable bonus)
25 yo, Jan 2015, SGD2980 (Increment + Management Remove 13th bonus - Due to bad oil price)
27 yo, Nov 2017, SGD2980 (Finally resigned because no salary increment, bonus and career progression in 2016 & 2017)

Company B (Software QA - IT service Industry)
27 yo, Dec 2017, SGD3400 (Permanent, 13th bonus + variable bonus)
28 yo, Apr 2018, SGD3600 (Passed Probation)
28 yo, Jun 2018, SGD4500 (Got other job offer, but company counter offer)
29 yo, Feb 2019, SGD4500 (Resigned)

Company C (Software QA - Gaming Industry)
29yo, Mar 2019, SGD5300 (Contract, no bonus)
30yo, Mar 2020, SGD5300 (Resigned)

Company D (Software QA - Automotive Industry)
30yo, Apr 2020, SGD7000 + 800 (Contract, variable bonus + monthly allowance SGD800)

From my experience in Singapore, jump ship is the best way to increase salary.
For those who want to come Singapore, remember open a Linkedin account, most of the recruiter search candidates from Linkedin. If you are IT professional, especially related to software development (Software engineer, QA, architect, Devops, Tech Consultant)

How come only 1k savings per month with zero commitment? Now Covid some more, a lot of expenditure should be reduced.

And yes, you can get >20% raise, but it won't be easy. You need some kind of professional certification/qualification, and hit it off with the interviewers (especially your direct boss).

You can definitely demand 30% and get it with some persistence. Usually this is a cap for most local Malaysian financial companies at 30%. Don't settle for 20%. But if you even more patient, can go for 40% or 50% even, usually have to hunt outside of Malaysian MNCs for that.

Nice to see being loyal to one company isn't that bad of a progression, compared to hoppers. 4x income within 8 years, growth is there. Thanks for sharing and wish you all the best.
