Those earning 5k here have a very distinctive post from those fakers who "claimed" they are in the bracket. The fact that their posts' are distinguisable from those imposters are making this thread worth reading. But hell, I dont think those in the 5k bracket will stop there. Next will be 10k bracket, 15, 20 and so on. Well, that's human nature to achieve more and more. Nonetheless, the ones' that I am respecting are those who are in the bracket and still stay down to earth with friends, relatives and most importantly family.

yeah, too bad my 10K thread was moved to kopitiam n closed down after i found it not-constructive at all , too bad coz if we hav a number of fakers in 5K thread, there will be more in 10K thread... sweat.gif

after being here for pages, i would like to send my apologies to posters whom i had challenged their "claims".

Yes, I took the easy way out by having a profit sharing with them. 70/30, me 70 them 30. They are willing to take that as advertising are borne by me. It will be too much cash to fork out if I would have my own messaging server and need staff to do troubleshooting etc.

BTW, I have another business plan. I am looking for potential business partners. If you are intrested, maybe we can meet up and see how we can work out from there. But I would need to start a web first and someone need to help to manage it while I need to do some advertising and get some business in. It will be telecommunication & IT related, hence I think we can work something out.

There will be very little or no $ involved, maybe just a few hundred for web and domain hosting (I'll handle that) smile.gif .That's how to make money with little or none  brows.gif IF IT WORKS  tongue.gif
Yeah bro, you are right. Luck only favours the brave and persistent. Key is never to give up and be smart. Every night before I sleep, I thank my lucky stars. I am also a strong believer in feng shui LOL. Never give up trying. I tried so many business before I found the right one. Not to mention thousands I spent did not yield returns. But I never let myself stop until I tell myself I'm going to get that 5 figure before I reach 30! If you tell yourself you wanna drive a BMW b4 you reach 30, you can do it! Motivation is the key.

Sometimes I feel so tired thinking about making money, and I ask myself why don't I just live like a normal person, getting comfy with a normal salary and enjoy my life. I couldn't understand why, I just can't feel secure being a normal comfy person. No, cause I have my goal. I wanna have a 100k cash before i reach 40, and I want to retire before 40 cause I hate working 9-5, and yet I do not make enough to sacrifice my 9-5 job. Thats why I wanna push myself hard before I get married cause the risk is higher.

For those who are young, this is the time to take the risk. Do not leave in regret that you did not have a chance to do it. I don't want to regret, WHY THE F i didn't do it last time. Never look back.

Anyone who is good in web programming maybe can PM me. See if I can share some of my ideas of getting money part time without sacrificing our own work schedule.  thumbup.gif

Hi, I'll be arranging a meetup soon, if the guys are ok with it, probably this saturday. PM me your contact and I'll give you a SMS and a meetup place. Do let me know where you are from as well so that I can arrange a place convinient for all of us. Cheers.

I think a 5 member discussion should be enough. Any more would not be beneficial as it would hard to brainstorm futhermore the plan would not need so many people in the beginning, if the plan realises, then it would be hard to share the profit wink.gif

5k/per month seems so faraway for me. I'm working in a telecommunication line as an engineer. I have absolutely no qualifications, but I do know the works. I used to study computing in Taylors but stopped halfway due to financial restraint. Other than doing in-building solution designs for Maxis and Celcom, I also work on repeaters, mobile coverage solutions and provide tech support for engineers in Maxis, Digi and Celcom. Not to mention I maintain my company website, email acc, network, file server and computer maintenance.
My salary? 1k. After SOSCO etc etc, 900/month.

So if any one wants to hire me, please do =p

It is so subjective and in big companies, there's always a salary range. For example, a PM can earn between 8K-10K and it depends on a lot of factors.

Years of experience is definitely a factor and your current pay is also another one when you jump jobs.

First example - Company A wants to hire a project manager and financially budgeted around RM10K. After interviewing, there are 2 candidates which will be offered - one which is earning RM6K now and the other RM8K.

Although both of them requested for 10K, the HR would not offer a 4K jump for the guy that currently earns 6K (unless we talk about exception cases). That is the reason why there is a range, etc.

Another example - You start working as a junior engineer for RM2K and eventually promoted to senior engineer. You get a reasonable promotion increment, let's say 10%-15% and yearly increment is approximately 5%-7%. After 5 years of working, you're promoted to Project Manager. Unfortunately, they won't give you a 4K increase and make you level up with the newly hired PM's earning 10K / month.

Generally, this is what which normally happens. Nevertheless, there are always exception in all cases smile.gif

With regards to your 2nd example, this person after 5 years will only be earning around 3K though he has been promoted to Project Manager.

Compared to the newly hired Project Manager, there's a 6-7K difference in pay? Wow! ohmy.gif

yeah sad...but hard cruel facts of life. Thus creating rampant job hopping in the market.
I've previously wrote a complaint to my HR department but no response.
My content is basically on the yearly increment which should coincides with the market average salary in order to curb job hopping or people leaving.

Unfortunately, that's the case but of course the gap wouldn't be 6-7K but maybe they'll pay you 5K-6K where new hires are 10K smile.gif

The concern for such jobs is no longer about the money but worklife balance.
If one can sacrifice that then no problems for sure smile.gif

Do you mean to say if they hire a new PM who is paid 10K, your pay will be increased to 5-6K?

Hmm...

curlyfries, it really depends on a lot of factors. How your boss helps you is also one factor. There's no strict rules to this and they won't just increase your salary by 3K just because you're recently promoted to a PM eventhough newly hired PM's are like 8K-10K.

In my current company, someone with the same grade as myself can have difference in pay for up to 2.5-3K smile.gif Big gap ain't it?
