Well, 5K before 28 is very much possible if you're in an MNC. I'm just keen to know those that do 10K at 28 smile.gif

Anyone cares to share some success stories?

Get some side business income. Probably you can start something like LY.net, but you gotta start early. Actually, if you have a long term plan in mind, it will generate some income for you. Thing is, don't give up too early.

I started my web stuff when I was around 23, too bad i did not have the patience to go through it as I was busy with my work which pays a mere 3k salary and ignored my web. It was too tiring to handle it alone on the weekends (I had no life sad.gif ). I would have made a 5-figure if I chose to stick around. Nevertheless, I saved all the money I worked and start-up some side income business which requires me only to work 3 days a week, and only 1-2 hour per day (So it's around 6 hours a week). So far, it's generating around 2k/month for me, with an initial investment of 20k. By next April, hopefully I get back my investment and get the 2k/month as part time income.

For young guys, starting a web-based e-commerce stuff don't need a lot of money in the beginning. It just need some time, smart planning and knows how to get web traffic. you need to be smart and plan ahead what you want to do.

For old man like me, gotta throw in some cash and wait for the investment to grow. I simply have no time for web farming and taking care of it since the older we get, the more commitment and workload I have due to higher positions. I can't simply quit my job as it's paying quite well, and at the same time I'm looking ways to break the 5-figure barrier.

Perhaps se7en would like to share some of his sucess stories with LY.net. blush.gif

Thats why there's a lot of members here talking about thier friends or relative or whatsoever, which has nothing to share. We want personal experience of the members themselves, the pros and cons, the joy and suffering of making money journey.

Heck, if i wanna talk about other peoples success, we have more than 100 people to talk about. Try not to turn a thread into a junk thread, no offense.

Oh by the way, to the members who PM-ed me about my part time income, sorry that I can't reveal what I'm doing cause I'm not comfortable revealing it (consider it competition tongue.gif). Even if I tell it here, it's too late to jump into the business as it's already saturated. I am late 5 years. If I were to follow the ones and started it earlier, I would have made a stagerring 36k/month with only 6 hours of work per week!

I am not talking crap, all the big sharks have already getting that figure. I entered too late, market saturated and I'm lucky to get 2k/month. If you enter it now, the chances of getting 500/month is damn slim and you would need to invest at least 30k to get that 500 month. Not so good eh.

As a hint, I'm doing SMS based keyword service. Like those send LOVE to 3xxxx keyword kinda stuff. You need $ to advertise your keywords and stuff like that (hence the initial 20k investment is actually for advertising and rolling cost). And I don't do spamming, don't want people to curse me everyday LOL. You need to get something creative and get those yuppies to subscribe them. You cannot force them to subscribe, it is illegal deemed by MCMC like those damn MacroKiosk fellas. Until today, they are still spamming as highlited by Jeff Ooi.

It's a big risk spending 20k-30k for adveristment when your return might or might not even reach 500/month. How much time or cost are you willing to wait to spend to get back that amount and turn it back into profit? 500 x 12 = 6k per year x 3-4 years before you get back 20k (the amount you invest if you are lucky). If not, you continue to invest for advertisement and you couldn't even get the customer to register it.

My personal experience.

gtghost, such sms services can indeed make money. I thought of that before but it also involves some agreement with the service provider I believe.

Nevertheless, good for you and all the best smile.gif

Yes, I took the easy way out by having a profit sharing with them. 70/30, me 70 them 30. They are willing to take that as advertising are borne by me. It will be too much cash to fork out if I would have my own messaging server and need staff to do troubleshooting etc.

BTW, I have another business plan. I am looking for potential business partners. If you are intrested, maybe we can meet up and see how we can work out from there. But I would need to start a web first and someone need to help to manage it while I need to do some advertising and get some business in. It will be telecommunication & IT related, hence I think we can work something out.

There will be very little or no $ involved, maybe just a few hundred for web and domain hosting (I'll handle that) smile.gif .That's how to make money with little or none brows.gif IF IT WORKS tongue.gif

But for every success stories that we hear all around, there are thousands out there who don't make it.

We definitely need to be aware of that!

Yeah bro, you are right. Luck only favours the brave and persistent. Key is never to give up and be smart. Every night before I sleep, I thank my lucky stars. I am also a strong believer in feng shui LOL. Never give up trying. I tried so many business before I found the right one. Not to mention thousands I spent did not yield returns. But I never let myself stop until I tell myself I'm going to get that 5 figure before I reach 30! If you tell yourself you wanna drive a BMW b4 you reach 30, you can do it! Motivation is the key.

Sometimes I feel so tired thinking about making money, and I ask myself why don't I just live like a normal person, getting comfy with a normal salary and enjoy my life. I couldn't understand why, I just can't feel secure being a normal comfy person. No, cause I have my goal. I wanna have a 100k cash before i reach 40, and I want to retire before 40 cause I hate working 9-5, and yet I do not make enough to sacrifice my 9-5 job. Thats why I wanna push myself hard before I get married cause the risk is higher.

For those who are young, this is the time to take the risk. Do not leave in regret that you did not have a chance to do it. I don't want to regret, WHY THE F i didn't do it last time. Never look back.

Anyone who is good in web programming maybe can PM me. See if I can share some of my ideas of getting money part time without sacrificing our own work schedule. thumbup.gif

Perhaps this qoute. But I think he did not read further down sweat.gif PER ANNUM. But it's still nice to know that you're making that much rclxms.gif

At that age I didn't not even reach the 3k mark. sweat.gif

But nevertheless, this is a forum, everyone is entitled to thier opinion. Another mans meat is another's poison. Chill.

Hi, I'll be arranging a meetup soon, if the guys are ok with it, probably this saturday. PM me your contact and I'll give you a SMS and a meetup place. Do let me know where you are from as well so that I can arrange a place convinient for all of us. Cheers.

I think a 5 member discussion should be enough. Any more would not be beneficial as it would hard to brainstorm futhermore the plan would not need so many people in the beginning, if the plan realises, then it would be hard to share the profit wink.gif

If earning RM4K before age of 30 also considered pretty good already.

See luck which company that you join and also your skill. If you are hardworking and you can one leg kick, I'm sure the boss will pay you even more.

Alot of things to consider of, how to make the boss like you, how to make all colleagues like you and etc.

If people like you, people will vote for you and you get promoted.

Attitude also very important, always punctual to work, do your work properly all the time, if you want to "snake", make sure you "snake" at the right time.  laugh.gif

I have nothing against "snaking". Everybody snake in office. It's hard to believe if you work daily from 9am - 5pm without snaking even for an hour.

I'm currently doing my internship at some big firm in Malaysia, and most of the people here are ZOMFGWTFNOSKILL&KNOWLEDGE. Most of them are doing Sales & Marketing (they use word, excel most of the time), I'm doing another that requires another different type of softwares which not everyone know how to use. And I always get the job done at the end of the day. I have to do part of all of their work, it's my responsibility anyway. I can do their Sales & Marketing too if I have too.

Most of these guys (male & female) are close to 30, some are above 30. They are Degree holders mostly, and some of them look weird when they see some mp3 player that can act as thumbdrive. One of them said "What is this, where is the head"?  doh.gif  Let's not talk about Hardwares, since they are not IT geek. There are also alot of things that they don't know, but I was there to save the day. They basically "goyang-kaki" almost everyday, what the hell, go and do something for god sake. No wonder these people are going no where, because they do nothing and snake too much. Snake only when you need a break or something, but they snake the whole day. Making phone calls, browsing the internet, gossiping, smoking. A few fellas gone out for smoking for 30 minutes? Do you need 30 minutes to smoke?

I've earned some respect from some of the Managers and also the biggest in the company. I did showed some of my skill infront of them. I'm always punctual, start work at 9am, I'm already there at 8:30am. I have no problem going to work on time, because all this while I never once late to any classes, and my attendance are all PERFECT! I hate to be late for something, that's why I always plan my time properly.

I did quite alot of things for this company at the moment. I get paid RM500+ monthly, the boss might consider increasing more, but will need to get approval from the higher top person. Hopefully...  tongue.gif

Though I'm just an intern, but I think I already tahpao-ed most of them. The things that they can do, I can do as well. And there are alot of things that I can do, and they can't do. I think most of them are just plain lazy, don't bother to explore more and doing the same things that they do for the past 10 years?

IMO, not only skill is important, general knowledge must also not left out.

Lulz, I just feel sorry for people like them. I heard they are earning RM2K+ only, close to RM3K.

You will be suprised that most of the seniors that make 5k> have this kind of attitute. Talk about competitiveness vs. other countries, we are lacking behind. And you haven't seen the rot yet, some politics in the company are killers.

damn, then really need to find a job here that can give more than 7k monthly salary so i can meet the point requirement. well maybe by next year can meet the requirement.

And I think you need at least 6 months 7k salary slip or 1 year I am not sure, by that time you may not qualify for the age points. More or less the same.
