@DaBestOne,
If one is merely studying just to pass the exam, there's really no point doing it cause he won't be learning anything. In fact it's a total waste of time! In order to upgrade urself, u'll need to learn right? Education isn't just about the papers and theories, there are lots of other things to it - it cultivates and build certain character and traits in u. @tishaban, Yeah I know that was OT - but well, hEHheeh i oredi typed it in so *LoL* submitted it anyways *grins* I'm not sure if that Stat given is accurate but I wouldn't be too surprised. Imagine all the information available if *someone* actually bothered to look into it! I'm sure it'll be v interesting too! @killdavid, Most people consider >RM4k to be affluent oredi. 10% of the entire population to be earning more than RM5k may be a bit too high *shrugs*. Then again, we can alwiz do a rough calculation.... we've got information on per capita income and population *grins* PS: I failed Maths so don't ask me how to do it ! *grins* |

Probably you can start something like LY.net, but you gotta start early. Actually, if you have a long term plan in mind, it will generate some income for you. Thing is, don't give up too early.Anyone cares to share some success stories? I started my web stuff when I was around 23, too bad i did not have the patience to go through it as I was busy with my work which pays a mere 3k salary and ignored my web. It was too tiring to handle it alone on the weekends (I had no life For young guys, starting a web-based e-commerce stuff don't need a lot of money in the beginning. It just need some time, smart planning and knows how to get web traffic. you need to be smart and plan ahead what you want to do. For old man like me, gotta throw in some cash and wait for the investment to grow. I simply have no time for web farming and taking care of it since the older we get, the more commitment and workload I have due to higher positions. I can't simply quit my job as it's paying quite well, and at the same time I'm looking ways to break the 5-figure barrier. Perhaps se7en would like to share some of his sucess stories with LY.net. |

My friend earning 20k per month, drives a perdana V6, owns a house in Bkt Jalil, and he's just the same age as me---23.
No qualifications, only SPM. He drop out from MMU, found a job which was not quite legal in Msia, expand his network, earned enough assets, and now is a director of a legal reseller company for telco. Moral of the story: you can get high pay if you work hard and get good social network!! Qualifications comes in second nowadays. |

I agree that if you want to earn more than 5k at age of 28, you should either work in an MNC (Europe or US) or start your own business. Working in local company seldom will give you such opporunity. Cause their currency is higher than ours, RM5k is like low cost labor to them in their country, they are more than willing to pay you that.

@clawhammer,
MNCs offer more opportunities hence the greater the chances for moving up the ladder but I wouldn't say that such opportunities only exists at MNCs - there are just fewer examples that's all PS: I'm not in the category u mentioned *grins* @sauyin82, I'm sure there's a good reason ur staying on despite being 'under'paid by almost 40%. And that's just on gross income, not taking into account the total remuneration package and other perks *grins* @stupidbump, Y would u wanna do something which isn't too legal just to make $? Maybe u should relook at the 'Moral of the Story' from a different perspective too! @p4n6, If u decide to start ur own biz, don't forget there's also a possibility of NOT drawing a salary *gulp* |

Qualifications comes in second nowadays. what you say is half correct half wrong ... like some drop out from spm, he initially work as car mechanic for RM500 a month, then 10 years later, he is good experience enough to open a car service shop and become own boss ... far better then those degree holde that most end up as 9-6 workers ... still, it is a up to individual ... i strongly believe no matter what field you involve, there is future ... (but not apply to toilet cleaner) |

I think nowadays if you keen to earn more, regardless of 5k, 10k & 20k even 50k, and you just need more social connection and work it out with other partners. You cant work alone to make yourself richer. Trust me..

understood.
Even robbers could earn quite well....seems they have good connections with the gold smiths. or better example; pirated VCD distributor or drug pushers... their connections are wide. But if we're talking about getting into a company, especially MNCs; basic qualification still holds. remember in the other topic you mentioned that your uncle picked all CGPA above 3 in his selections which is his first priority, than only further eliminate by looking at appearance. Yes, indeed networking and connections played a role; no doubt about it. But also with those, you need the right knowledge too. Knowledge needs to acquire either by studying or experience. Don't tell me one can climb up and earn so much if he has no knowledge or not an expert on what he is doing. Even those illegal business which I mentioned, they succeed because they are well versed in what they are doing. |

I found it astonishing that a lot which doesn't have good grades or even sch drop out got better earnings in life. This is legal business I'm talking about(though a lot can be gained non-legal ways).
The theory that I came out with is that they have a bigger risk taking appetite as compared to graduates. Graduates like me seems to be cultivated to analyse on every move we take. Weight the Pros and Cons, risk involved etc... Thus a lot of time, after this through out thinkings we kind of felt that it's too risky to our liking. But to a lot of this guys (a lot of my friends too); they just never really go into the depth. As long as it's workable and after some initial thoughts and planning, they would just go right straight into it. It's their determination that helped them succeed and I admire them for that. |

QUOTE yea..that's my point. YOU DON"T NEED GOOD GRADES TO LAND A LUCRATIVE PAY! but still, you need a genius/brave brain to have a lucrative pay... like people mention above, those who earn 10k++ a month, i believe they have good 'business cell' inside their brain ... else they wont success ... people said uncle lim having low education background and dunno speak proper english but he is a genius in doing business ... every 1 can easily obtain a degree but not every 1 can success in doing business and earn a lot ... |
