Latest SHIELD TV 16GB now comes with additional Bluetooth module which the older unit don't have.



Based on the pics, there is mount point for extra module on the 2017 model meaning that NViDiA had plan to add the BLE module at 1st but for unknown reason they didn't add it.
It's known issue that Shield TV have problem with Bluetooth signal coz by USB 3.0, maybe by adding additional BLE module may help to improve the signal.

Currently using shield 2017 16gb... I'm interested in investing a NAS.. Should I find the NAS with video transcoding capabilities? Or I just attached to Shield and use it as Media Server?

I saw those basic NAS from Asustor and Sysnology cause around 600+ is it good enough?

normal NAS should be enough because shield is power enough to do the transcoding.

but if u have more budget, can buy those with good spec. like synology, can use the DSvideo for manage ur video library or plex if u want more customization. and u can watch anywhere on ur phone too.

Are there other alternatives watching epl and uefa? Currently I'm using fubotv

I'm using the Synology 918, DS video is nice, but I have encounter 2 issues, sometimes I have difficulties logging in (diff network, away from home) , which I suspect is the internet issue from the login side, wifi cannot log in, but telco data can log in

another issue is if you want to play bluray ISO, u can't, u can only choose the m2ts file, if you not into this, the DS video is pretty nifty, access anytime anywhere

Only Kodi can play all sort of files. My Syno 418 specs is lower than yours.

im using 218+ and my main apps on shield is ds video.

i can access it at home locally and outside.
for outside, u need to make sure ur ISP didnt block ur synology port.
i configure the portal/video station running on port 80, so even at my office i also can access it. ( my office got strict port blocking)

use ds file apps or the portal. so can access all files in ur NAS

another way, create vpn server, connect to vpn and can access like LAN locally.

i have DS video & DS audio on my iphone, but only use the latter because it generates lyrics

yes. auto download metadata, also can auto download subtitle.

Anyone manage to install and run hypptv with nvidia shield? I manage to install. But when i click on the program, it just buffering... using 500mbps connection...

Do u have adoptable storage?
If yes, go to the app setting and move the app to internal storage..
