Disable IPv6, and are you on private IP? What is your current IP?

modem (BTU). Nothing wrong with the router. Both dLink 842 and tenda also can achieve 100+ mbps. Was on the old Unifi modem, issued since I subscribed to unifi when they first launched it.... The tech was reluctant to change, saying 90+ mbps is norma.. lucky thing I told him that on the lowyat forum many users are able to achieve 100+ mbps... then only he changed the modem.

Not really. If you are using the best and most expensive router, you don’t really lose 10%. Most even get more than the subscribed speed. I am using the TP-Link AC3150 v2 and connected to PC via Cat6, I am getting my full or slightly more turbo speed of 300Mbps.

Anyway, if you are happy, then all good.

Hi Bro, how bout ur Wifi speed using turbo speed of 300Mbps? Modem using default TM provided punya? hmm.gif

Getting full speed on wired, and on my laptop. Mobile getting 250-300Mbps in same floor with router, and on ground floor, probably 150-200Mbps. Using TP-Link AC3150 v2. Definitely not using TM stock router lol.

Lol..guessed as much bro.. so if I were to only change my router to Tenda AC18 and still use the Huawei modem (Huawei HG8240w) provided by TM it would not do me any good eh...in terms of getting the max speed from my Turbo Unifi 300Mbps package. bangwall.gif

Why not? Tenda AC18 is more than capable to go to 300Mbps.

I place my Asus AC68U at living room then connect my Tenda AC18 on 2nd floor hall via built-in-ready wall cat5E networking cable. Try to set the Tenda AC18 as AP mode but to no avail. There is no option to set AP mode, only wireless repeater. So decided to download international firmware US_AC18V1.0BR_V15.03.05.05_multi_TD01 without the Unifi support and succesfully set the AC18 as AP mode.
Why is it local firmware does not include along AP mode option?

you can always do it the old school way when there is no dedicated AP mode

- set your ip to something different from the main router but in the same subnet
- disable DHCP
- plug the cable to any of the LAN ports (not the single WAN port)
- wifi: configure at will, don't have to match main router

1 benefit of a dedicated AP mode is you can use the WAN port to connect to the main router instead of the LAN ports (not sure if this apply for all routers though)
