Not really. If you are using the best and most expensive router, you don’t really lose 10%. Most even get more than the subscribed speed. I am using the TP-Link AC3150 v2 and connected to PC via Cat6, I am getting my full or slightly more turbo speed of 300Mbps.

Anyway, if you are happy, then all good.

Hi Bro, how bout ur Wifi speed using turbo speed of 300Mbps? Modem using default TM provided punya? hmm.gif

Getting full speed on wired, and on my laptop. Mobile getting 250-300Mbps in same floor with router, and on ground floor, probably 150-200Mbps. Using TP-Link AC3150 v2. Definitely not using TM stock router lol.

Lol..guessed as much bro.. so if I were to only change my router to Tenda AC18 and still use the Huawei modem (Huawei HG8240w) provided by TM it would not do me any good eh...in terms of getting the max speed from my Turbo Unifi 300Mbps package. bangwall.gif

have used it for about a month... must say it's very stable. Much better than TM issued dLink 842. No regrets buying it.

Are you on stock firmware or changed to Merlin firmware?
Wondering whether should i flash to Merlin firmware or just go with the stock firmware if there isn't any significant speed improvement. I'm on Unifi turbo 300Mbps.

Just bought the Tenda AC18 last week to replace the existing Maxis router and it works for Astro IPTV. The configuration is simple and easy.
1) Plug in the internet cable from TM modem to AC18 port (blue color)
2) Connect the default wifi to AC18 (the router comes with preset wifi ssid and password)
3) Access the Tenda configuration page (192.168.0.1 or tendawifi.com) via browser
4) Login the default Tenda page with 'admin'
5) Select the connection type: PPPoE
6) Enter the ISP username and password. Usually username like '123456@home.maxis.com.my', password will be '123456'+1, which is 1234561
7) Click next, setup your new wireless setting, then done.
For Astro IPTV, connect the network cable to port 4/IPTV. That's it.

Simple and easy guide bruh.. Thumbs up.. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

ac18 is wayy more than enough for 300mbps. why need a successor or new model. u can try their mesh, now they promoting it.

Currently using TM stock router DIR 85O-L .Just concerned about the Tenda AC18 chip set since it's been out for 2-3 years now. I will check out on their mesh though if it's within my budget. Thanks bruhh.. rclxms.gif rclxms.gif

hahaha 850l is a completely trash, ac18 uses the same chip as asus ac68u. should be sufficient, the wifi range is superb.
*
Hahah.. yeap currently facing disconnection & slow speed via 2.5Ghz channel which annoys me.
Guess it's about time to change the stock router..

Thanks again mate.. thumbup.gif

how do you find the 2.4ghz speed compare to earlier router? Huge improvement?
*
Not really significant speed difference using the 2.5ghz.. Ex: Before could get around 40-50Mbps and After would get around 50-70Mbps.

However, using the 5ghz then the speed is significant. Ex: Before could get around 110-120Mbps and After can get around 220-240Mbps which is great as almost double speed than before. thumbup.gif Btw i'm on Unifi Turbo 300Mbps.

No drops in connection compared with TM default stock router. flex.gif

Managed to get USB HDD working again. I think it's faster than other routers in similar price range, which is one of the reason why I bought Tenda AC18. 50MB/s read speed & 30MB/s write speed biggrin.gif
*
How did u manage to get the USB HDD to be working again? hmm.gif Play HDD movies via your TV using shared function from the AC18 eh? brows.gif

Unplug my Windows tablet from the router (previously connected on Port 2 I think). Then I plug the HDD. Then reboot. I did this 2-3 times before the HDD finally works. Test via SMB.

Good to know mate.. Cheers... thumbup.gif
