i called dell and asked them regarding whether i should remove it, and they told me it's not neccessary. They say mobos will cut off the power to it once it's fully charge.
And one thing i'm concerned of is the possibility of dust accumulation at the contact if you remove the battery.
*
yups...did asked Dell assistance...they said no problem having the battery inserted... cool2.gif
also concerned about the dust get into the notebook as the battery removed... rclxub.gif
it seems the battery area got lots of open spaces that would let the dust easily enter into it... shakehead.gif

I encounter frequent booting problem with my XPS M1210. Whenever I boot, it stuck on a black screen while half way booting into Windows XP. Already tried reinstalling Windows but the problem persists. All the 3rd party programs in the XPS M1210 also being used in my other different branded laptops too. Dell personnel asked me not to turn on the Windows auto update & system restore, however I don't think all these will solve the problem permanently though since evn reinstalling Windows also can't solve it. Any of you guys facing this?

I am having the same problem as well, started from labour's day,now still in save mode cause can't enter windows normally, gonna give the technical support a call later...Any suggestiongs? As for cpu temp,I aware that most of you have it around 60 degree celsius when running at 100%,right?Mine still around 70+ in always on power management profile. They had changed my heatsink and fan last time, the temp is slightly lower but still abnormal...

It probably means that the network card can turn the computer on if there is any network activity... That setting actually made my old desktop turn on and off at will, kinda scary... ohmy.gif

how do they name the version of the driver ar??
how come newer one has a lower value? 94.22
while the older one has a higher value? 97.46
should i install it eh?
i got 3.4 for gaming graphics and 3.7 for graphics currently...
scared later drop after installing the newer version....
coz maybe it's juz compatible with vista, but not optimum and maybe that's why they didn't list it under the vista os?

yealor... not much settings...
wan set like overlay, can let other ppl watch movie on the tv and me continue doing my stuff.... but cannot.... can make two screens though, but a bit mafan....

kwws u get 3.6 is because of the hard disk u're using. i think it's a toshiba which has a slightly lower speed i guess. u get 4.3 for hard disk rite? if yes then i guess it's a toshiba.....

the replacement unit i got is using toshiba hard disk and i got 3.6 for graphics also... but after swapping the hard disk with a hitachi that has 4.4, the graphics rating rose to 3.7....

No powermiser or TV settings for Vista... I was wondering myself where it went... icon_rolleyes.gif

Added on May 9, 2007, 1:12 amWell, I've checked around, and it seems that Coolbits (or NVTweak/NVTray, as it is called now) can enable the hidden OC component in Dell's drivers... I wonder if it can work under Vista... I'll check that out and report in later... icon_rolleyes.gif

On another note, about the Total Satisfaction policy related claim I did a few weeks ago, the cheque came in already (actually, it came in nearly a week ago, only I didn't notice... sweat.gif )... rclxm9.gif

It's for the price difference between the M1210 when I bought it (free delivery), and when it had the 2GB RAM + DVD Burner promo about a week later... rolleyes.gif

For all the crap that Dell sometimes gives us, who else refunds your money when the lappy you just bought becomes cheaper a week after buying it? Excellent psychological tactic right there, go Dell customer service! notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif notworthy.gif

If only they can buff up the design, quality assurance and on-site service departments as well, they'd be perfect... icon_rolleyes.gif

Here's the cheque...

That's total satisfaction for you... thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

Got my xps already!! So far, I'm loving it. the build quality is surprisingly quite solid... i was expecting it to be flimsy like fujitsu 12" lifebook. The keyboard and touchpad are quite comfy to use.... just like my old dell 4150. 1 thing i notice tho is the xps gets heated up quite fast. Well.. i'll give a lengthy updates once i use this baby more smile.gif
