but big problem is only got 2 HDMI... no Bluetooth not really an issue tho... hmm dilemma

I guess you're hooking your soundbar directly to Mi Box instead of TV, right? Otherwise could utilise the HDMI ports on soundbar.

Better get 6800x rather than 6500x.

4 hdmi input is impt.

Sizewise, previous model 630x had 50, 58, 65in.

This one, 45, 50, 60... and i think there is a 65 but maybe discointinued after the launch of 45 which came a little later.

Was at ESH today and saw the LC50UA6800X. The picture looked not so good compared to the Samsungs. I have a feeling the content they used was subpar just to make the samsungs look better. Is the picture quality OK?

Also the price was like RM3388 but with a 5 year warranty

Looks good to me... Ok when u said not as good as Sony or LG or Samsung's... Ur not comparing them to the OLED or QLED right? Cos that's different tech... Of course that will be much better... If u compareing LED TVs... IMO the Samsung and Sony's and LGs are not better than the Sharp because they r all low end models... The picture quality and brightness r all on par with the Sharp... Price will be much higher because of their brand... So I don't think is that worth it... Unless u get their mid range or premium models but of course just will cost much more... For example u can get the Sharp 60" easy smart for around the same price to the Samsung 55"... But picture quality is around the same too... So it's ur call

i dont understand y ppl bother getting the 45" model lol... for just extra 300 u can get 50" (or if you really want to save get the non-Android TV version and then buy ur own TV box)... price per inch also relatively same... so value wise the 50" is much a better buy IMO... and pls dont tell me that extra 5" is not worth it... makes a significant difference... as for me 60" is the way to go... for futureproofing
I should call you before to extend my small study room....... rclxms.gif
Hope you can do FOC...... cool2.gif

Btw,
are you guys enable OPC..?

50" rm3888 5 yr warranty is high but i know that is "normal" price.
that price is higher than what i paid for the 60" at last AV Fair during promo, see post #565.
do visit a couple more shops, hopefully find a better deal.
this model is a mid-range tv, is certainly not "the best"
but if u compare apples with apples - same price, same size - it is good value, very decent picture quality and features.

Std mode, normal videos or tv streams, opc on is better.
Opc off will be way too bright.

But for 4khdr, need opc off, std, movie or adjusted dynamic mode.
That will bring out the colors and depth.

ran a few more tests on 6800x...

AUDIO

i connected my box player direct to tv, by passing the AVR; tv optical arc to AVR.
.. dd, dd+, ddtruehd, ddatmos tracks will be reduced to core dd - press display, u see it shows up as "surround dd".
.. dts, dtshdma, dtsx tracks will all be reduced to lpcm 2.0.
.. i think results will be same with HDMI arc as the e-manual does say tv is only DD capable.

.. in contrast, the tv player can do only dd, cannot do dts at all - no audio.
.. using vlc, mx player in androidtv, dd or dts will be reduced to lpcm 2.0

the tv definitely cannot do DTS.
tv's netflix and arc will give dd5.1, nothing higher.

OPC

Optical Picture Control is an auto screen brightness feature.

u can set opc to on (default) - any video, from androidtv or external input, the screen brightness is reduced, correct for SDR signals.

using this setting, if tv detects 4k HDR video, the tv automatically turns off the OPC, i.e. "off".
this allows the screen to be brighter to enable HDR effects.
if u manually set opc to on, the picture will be too dim.

Thanks for the info. rclxm9.gif

Something worth nothing. Got sound doesn't mean the output stream is original.

Since u r not using avr, the eaiest thing to do is to get a decent android box, connect hdmi to tv.

That way, u play all files, all formats, all subs, easy to work with, navigate.

And makes yr torrent selection easy if u hv the speed.

Just get a good price on the tv, u already save enough to buy a good box! biggrin.gif

not normal, defective.

if 2 days old, ask for 1-for-1 exchange - some sellers have this practice for 1st 7 days.

also, check settings/about/status/uptime - see how many hours this tv has been used... if it was a display unit.
