I understood Sharp X4 Master Engine Pro II upscaler can't do the magic, if I watching Astro HD movie the end result still look fine, but for non HD e.g. 720p contents, ithe picture quality really look blur, the end results look worse than my old 43" Samsung plasma TV, I know 60" upscale stretch the picture much more than 43", I just want to ask sifu here for your experience of other brand 60" TV (like Sony, Samsung etc) has similar upscale PQ (or worse or batter) compare to Sharp?

very normal.

current 4k tv's give poor results for low resolutions... incl dvd, vob, avi formats.

for those, best to use old tvs... incl ancient CRT's.

HD = 720p and above - these will come out pretty good, upscaled on 4ktv.

unless the "720p" is a very low quality rip.

Thank u, does this means price for 60 - 6800 has gone up? It seems like counter logic as this is a current model and prices should be sliding down as more and more newer model comes to the market, should I wait for the next promo? Any advice?

Seem the offers is just over. If you not in hurry, you may just wait a little bit longer for next promotion event, maybe Merdeka...

how do we know if the up-scaling is working? Is there some setting to toggle on or off?

No toggle, it is always on.

Unless this is your first ever tv, u will notice the diff compared to old tv, 1080p tv.

Even astro or unifitv in 1080i comes out better with the upscaling.

The overall display quality also depends on the player, not just the source or tv.

For a given source, there is a diff playing via tv usb player compared to a good player box.

The tv player is not so good. Better players can deliver superior video with tv upscaling.

The same is seen with android apps.

E.g. astrogo app... the video quality from the app used on my box is better than that from the same app installed in the tv.

In short, best results come from good source+good player+good display wuth upscaling.

Thanks bro. Which box are u using? Mi box? Looks like perhaps getting the non android model makes more sense as they share the exact same panel and 4k engine. bangwall.gif

I am not sure if everything is the same except the android.
For that, u gotta play same file with same player in the 2 models, watch side by side.

Its good to hv androidtv... very convenient for fast casual watching... news, short tv shows...

Media or android box, there are many... cheap, expensive... some more features, some less... some use basic generic player, others use powerful native proprietory built player... some can do dtsx, ddatmos, others cant even do dd or dts.
I use himedia q10pro.
This is another topic... ther are already many threads for it.

i am so late to notice this topic. i just bought from harvey norman for LC60UA6500X.
RM45xx, Then add on RM6xx for extended 3 years warranty.
with further discount somemore, the end price i am paying was below Rm5100.
Free a Sharp Apple design Rice cooker.
and PWP rm30 for Belkin 4 socket plug (worth RM99)

BTW, the total price i mentioned is included the RM30 for plug ady.

for those asking about the comparisons between LC60UA6500X (NON ANDROID VERSION) and LC60UE630X, I decided to buy after using the same 4k source to play side by side. its clearly the color and texture had been improved compared 630x.

I do compared with panasonic & lg (forgot the model no) that within the same price range. its clearly sharp produce the color better, however, when i view the same video on SOny, sony had better in everything but with higher price tag.

Hi bro, I just bought a new LC60UA6500X. Just wondering does your tv come preloaded with Netflix? the specs mentioned from google says that there should be 3 apps preloaded in this model i.e. Netflix, Youtube and Web browser, but i cant seem to find the Netflix app in mine. Wondering if there's any luck at your side? Thanks

Unfortunately, there’s no Netflix app. And even going to Netflix on the browser, can’t play it over there. Sad case. Will have to look for a media player.

Also, can anyone tell me how to access game mode? The input lag on my Xbox One X is crazy. The 4K content looks delicioua though.

i had thought the ua6500x has netflix alto it's not androidtv like ua6800x.

but no... think it only has youtube and browser.

about netflix, take note that netflix certification is required for any device to be able to do HD, 4k, HDR or dolby vision.

old ue630x can do netflix 4k but not 4k HDR - this, ua6800x can, i believe.

standalone boxes - most CANNOT do netflix in HD/4k, only in SD.

certified TV's/devices that can do netflix HD/4K:

Thanks for the replies, guys! Yea, a big disappointment. A supposedly smart tv with only youtube and web browser pfffffftttttt. Even my 5 years old sony smart TV has netflix that comes with it, although it's only Full HD. How do you guys watch 4k content? Can we use external HDD to store 4k movies and plug in directly via the USB slot? But i read that the USB slot is 2.0, im not sure if it can play a 50gb 4k movie.

I know the 6800X is androidtv while the 6500x is not, but i didnt expect the easy smart to be that basic. Even when i searched online some websites listed Netflix as yes under the specs column. Well, I guess different countries would have different specs of 6500X.

Ohh missed out a point. A certain company in Malaysia was having raya sales/employee's benefits and were offloading the LC60UA6500x and the 50" model for a very low price (approx RM1k discount from normal price in retails), but it was cash and carry. So yup, didnt get to test it beforehand. Well just have to live with it, maybe i will get the 4k chromecast or something (read that the 6800x model even has a built-in chomecast, damn....)

Anyway, thanks a lot for the info bro. appreciate that!

yes, 6800x/630x has built in chrome/google cast, easy to use.

for u, still possible to make up for it.

depending on your priorities, it is not so difficult to get an android box for rm300-600 to make up for it.

just u spend time finding the right box for your needs.

check out the android box threads... pm me if u wish...
