Not sure about Sharp 6800x durability because android TV is still relatively new
Picture quality is good but android system isn't 100% yet
There isn't any operating manual so ask the tech guy to do the apps download & how-to-use
Don't be a smartass!
It's all-in-one removed all the clusters on my TV cabinet
My Samsung Plasma TV kaput after 8 yrs but I managed to sell it off for RM200
I wonder how much 6800x will fetch in 8 yrs?

Well, my experience with 3 x sharp lcdtv... all longer than 8 years.

Current ue630x, 3 years.

Yes, there is no manual on androidtv... same when u buy android phone, android tablet or androidbox.

And its true... if u r new to android, it can be frustrating.

But if u know enough, it is as good as any android.

I use my androidtv not for netflix or youtube.

But for astrogo and other apps for intl live tv channels.

I am comingfrom Samsung and LG smart tv user. I must say the new android tv OS is way better - a lot more versatile.

that samsung tv... I do not comment on things that i have never used.

That sharp, i am using its predecessor, 3 years, very satisfied.

If i were to get a new one tmrw, it will be ua6800x.

I like the picture quality, the androidtv, the price and durability.

major brands, only sony and sharp use google's androidtv, and not every model.

the rest all use their own platform.

like i said, i never used samsung, cannot comment much.

better u go to samsung thread and ask there.

no warranty in my cases... they are still working.

statistically, it will never be 100%... there will be some that will fail in 1 or 2 or 10 years.

the thing is when u read "expert" reviews, it's always about specs, numbers, graphs, charts...

nothing about how long the tv will last or how long the picture quality stays good. biggrin.gif

this, i suppose will have to rely on individual's past experience.

TV lifespan goes by the hours, eg. after 1000 hrs motherboard kaput, 2000 hrs panel kaput, etc
So if u don't watch it, turn it off
Hoping for Sharp to create its own keyboard. Logitech has bugs
pvateme, how much u paid for your 6800x & free gifts?

Anyone here got issues with Chrome casting? Mine doesn't last. I'm using Sony Xperia

Wow Sharp 4k TV price drop quite a fair bit, now I am considering buying Sharp instead, for a change from Sony. Been using Sony all my life.

This Sharp model 6800 is comparable to Sony 7500F or 8500F?

And I read reviews here that the 50 inch VA panel is not made in Japan?

Now Goshop selling the 50 inch 6800 model at 2399 with another 12% discount. My concern is I use my TV to watch soccer quite a lot, seems like motion not smooth?

Can any experts advise for room use, mainly for watching live TV like that HD channels (Singapore free ones), youtube, netflix and soccer, should I get Sharp or Sony? I am looking at the 50 inch range.

Thanks.

joeblow, Sharp 6800x made in Batu Pahat, panel still made in Japan. Tomorrow panel will be made in China in Hisense factory?
Your generation must have skipped infamous Sony Betamax VCR player
6800x has built-in Digital Freeview so all local channels digitized already

Hi there, so 6800X 50 inch panel still made in Japan huh. I will go down to showroom to check it out next week.

Great to know Digital Freeview built in, so far the live reception for all malaysia hd channels a lot of times no signal. But I guess after world cup no more need to watch those channels.

My generation has witnessed the VRC era for sure. But cannot recall Betamax. I do still have a Sony VCR in my hall that's not switched on for donkey years. I doubt it is still working anymore.

I just pull the trigger and bought the 6800-60 inches at the home expo @sunway. To my limited knowledge this is one of the better deal for this few weeks.

Lol I been holding on since Feb and always miss the deal. KL AV show is too far from me both in date and venue.

I pay 3500 for the TV and get the bag + 5 years warranty. Already a better deal than ESS and HN quoted me.

Hi AV,

No ill intention but now that I am on the other side I am hoping the price slide will stop! Lol! Last week I was still praying for it to drop but now is the reverse!

While walking out of the exhibition hall, my wife notice the LG OLED and she asked “ why are we not getting that one? The picture looks better and I like the stand”
