QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jun 11 2018, 08:20 PM) very normal. how do we know if the up-scaling is working? Is there some setting to toggle on or off?current 4k tv's give poor results for low resolutions... incl dvd, vob, avi formats. for those, best to use old tvs... incl ancient CRT's. HD = 720p and above - these will come out pretty good, upscaled on 4ktv. unless the "720p" is a very low quality rip. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jun 12 2018, 01:59 PM) No toggle, it is always on. Thanks bro. Which box are u using? Mi box? Looks like perhaps getting the non android model makes more sense as they share the exact same panel and 4k engine. Unless this is your first ever tv, u will notice the diff compared to old tv, 1080p tv. Even astro or unifitv in 1080i comes out better with the upscaling. The overall display quality also depends on the player, not just the source or tv. For a given source, there is a diff playing via tv usb player compared to a good player box. The tv player is not so good. Better players can deliver superior video with tv upscaling. The same is seen with android apps. E.g. astrogo app... the video quality from the app used on my box is better than that from the same app installed in the tv. In short, best results come from good source+good player+good display wuth upscaling. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jun 25 2018, 01:27 AM) Well, my experience with 3 x sharp lcdtv... all longer than 8 years. I am comingfrom Samsung and LG smart tv user. I must say the new android tv OS is way better - a lot more versatile. Current ue630x, 3 years. Yes, there is no manual on androidtv... same when u buy android phone, android tablet or androidbox. And its true... if u r new to android, it can be frustrating. But if u know enough, it is as good as any android. I use my androidtv not for netflix or youtube. But for astrogo and other apps for intl live tv channels. |

Any suggestion on the gamepad (for playing games obviously) for this android tv? Would the PS4 or XBox gamepad work?

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Jul 13 2018, 10:57 AM) internal player suck as always. VLC have option for audio pass thru. I assume your soundbar or home theater system would decode the DTS or THX sound right?on older ue630x, VLC or mx won't deliver DD5.1, only 2.0. better get separate player if into high grade audio/AVR. |

The remote control voice control / search button is no longer working - the button when press, it will activate the voice search. I do not know exactly when it has stopped working but i can't get it working even after cold start (power unplug and plug). Anyone faces this prb?
BTW, I am using the latest firmware. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Sep 3 2018, 04:54 PM) you mean voice search for youtube? All other buttons are working flawlessly. Yes, the voice search button - it simply stop working for all apps, you tube, netflix etc. try checking the settings... maybe something not set right there. can also uninstall youtube, reinstall, see how. is the remote working good for everything else? Ok, i will double and triple check the settings again later. Thanks. |

got mine updated yesterday. So far so good, didn't get a chance to test it extensively though.
Anyway, I was testing a 4k video for the very first time with VLC stream over a NAS drive. I am not sure but it seems like the movie tend to jerk abit every now and then. Normal 1080p and netflix 4k were silky smooth. I am on LAN 100mbps. I suspect the HDD read speed is slow? Anyone here face the same prb? |
