Tokyo area full bloom March24,
Kansai area full bloom March31,

Flowers usually last a week after full bloom.

If you miss full bloom by a few days, still OK also cos you can catch the petals falling time which is nice in its own way also

Even if you miss by a week or more, there are places with late blooming varieties.

Full bloom is predicted to be so early this year in Tokyo? hmm.... last year i was there at 30th March and it was only just starting a little...

Thanks for your reply. For Nikko trip, I thought it should be 2 hours train only?

Actually my trip is next year, so not sure if Tsukiji is still there.
*
It's about 2 hours plus one way, but that's about 4.5 hours round trip.. it's almost half a day gone for transportation. It's pretty tiring to do a day trip... NOT IMPOSSIBLE.. but pretty tiring.. sweat.gif

Hi, i have a question about transit in Narita airport. I arrive at Narita at 7.20am, but i wanted to take the next flight from Narita to KIX using Jetstar which departs at 940am. Is it possible to make that flight?

better don't, different airlines many thing can happen
but why transit in Narita to KIX, where you depart? should have direct flight to KIX
*
Direct to Osaka is only feasible if departing from KL. Since i'm flying from Sabah, flying to Tokyo first will be the better option. I guess i will have to find a less tight flight from Tokyo to Osaka

Hi, i'm here to ask about Sandankyo gorge in Hiroshima. Have anyone been there before? Is it difficult to navigate to the park and also in the trails?

http://visithiroshima.net/plan_your_trip/t.../sandankyo.html

Here's some information i'd found. Is it accurate?

Hiroshoma Station

15 minutes' ride on City train No.1, No.2 or No.6 (150 yen), get off at "Kamiyacho Higashi" stop and 3 minutes' walk

Leave Hiroshima Bus Center (8:18 a.m.)

How to ride a bus: Get a bus ticket bound for "Sandan-kyo gorge" (1400 yen for one way) at box office of Hiroshima Bus Center (3rd floor of SOGO Department Store). Get on the bus at No.7 station, and get off at the last stop.
There is only one rapid bus in the morning, so don't miss it!

Hiroshima Bus Center

Sandan-kyo gorge Bus Stop (9:33 a.m.)

Stroll around the valley (10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)

【recommended course】

Sandan-kyo gorge front gate
 ↓ (5 min. walk)
Shimai waterfall
 ↓(35 min. walk)
Ishidoi
 ↓(20 min. walk)
Kurofuchi pool
 ↓(take 60 min.)
take a ferryboat, lunch at Kurofuchi so
 ↓(60 min. walk)
Sandan-kyo gorge entrance

A simple question. Can Himeji and Amanohashidate be covered in the same day?

I'm trying to fit it in the Kansai-Hiroshima pass and they appeared to be connected by railway. I just wanted to know if it's feasible to have them in the same day. Thanks.

you just need to check the travel time needed from point A to Himeji, then to Amanohashidate. Then you will get your answer

if its a simple question then pls do your own homework first
*
I did, and the results of Hyperdia does not match the map lines shown in the train pass map. Also, actual time time coverage is approximately half day for each after research but it may differ in actual travel. Hence the question.

If you don't know the answer, you can always just ignore the question like everyone else, rather than trying to put yourself up on a higher pedestal and criticize others.

Hi, I'm currently planning my trip to Hiroshima and i'm trying to allocate the time for Miyajima. From what i'd found, there's basically the floating torii, shrine, mount misen and the shopping street. How much time do you allocate to visit Miyajima? One full day or just half a day is more than enough?

Hi, i have a question about using passes for Shinkansen (in my case, it's Kansai-hiroshima Pass), do you still have to go get tickets even when you're opting for unreserved seats? If you do want reserved seats, the extra seating ticket can only be bought over the counter?

I just came back last saturday. We took the morning 8am train from kyoto station to osaka kansai airport. It was not packed.
Just don't sit or store your luggage on the reserved coach if you bought a normal ticket. The coach inspector will come and check tickets.
*
Hi, which train did you use? Also, did you use a pass, ICOCA or bought a ticket manually?

Hi, currently i'm trying to book a domestic flight from KIX to Narita using Jetstar. I wanted to leave KIX at the earliest flight to spend more time in Tokyo. However, the earliest flight is at 7.35am and the next flight will be 2pm. My closest departure station will be Tengachaya station and Hyperdia says with the first departing train, without any delays, i will reach the airport with 1.5 hours to spare before flight departure (Jetstar counter opens 2 hours before departure, closes 30 mins before, gate closes 15 mins before departure).

Is it possible to still make the flight? I'm not sure of the orientation of KIX nor how the lines at immigration will be like as i'd never been to KIX so i can't make an estimate if i can make it.

you can try JAL or ANA....Early booking for these 2 airline was cheap. Japanese fly domestic from Osaka to Tokyo prefer Osaka Itami Airport.  Both JAL / ANA using B777 for these route. extra legroom for more comfort.

Earliest bus from Namba OCAT to Itami Airport was 6am
*
Thanks for the suggestion, i'd checked Itami's location and also their flight schedule, it seems only ANA have schedule available for my month (Nov). But my current location takes about 1 hour travelling time with multiple transfers to Itami while it's 40 mins to KIX. So i'm still considering if my original plan is still feasible with only 1.5 hours leeway between arrival and flight departure time... sad.gif

Hi, i have a question about flight transfer and transit time from Narita to KIX.

My flight is suppose to land in Narita at 7.20am, but the flight from NRT to KIX i'm aiming for departs at 9.40am. That's about 2 hours and 20 mins. Will there be sufficient time to make the transit? If i'm not mistaken, i still have to clear the immigration, exit the arrival hall and then enter again right?

Should be more than enough, for my transit (ANA) in NRT, clearing immigration is quite efficient (Japanese style), pick up luggage, exit customs, but don't exit arrival hall. There is a small door for "transit" , go there, show boarding pass, drop luggage and goto domestic gate.
*
Thanks for the reply. How long did it take for you to reach the other departure gate?

If you have a boarding pass already, does that mean I should check-in and print my own boarding pass before i arrive at Narita? Or is it possible to do it there at the Transit gate? I'm using Jetstar btw. smile.gif

oh, probably mine is slightly different. I'm ANA all the way KUL-NRT-CTS, so 2x boarding pass printed in KLIA. I presume you are flying different airlines ?
hmm.gif

if your flight is connecting flight, there'll be representative waiting for you upon arrival that will escort you to your next flight
*
Sadly, mine isn't the same flight. I'm using MAS to reach NRT and then planning to take Jetstar to KIX. Will it still be possible to make the transit? Since it's a different airline, do i have to exit the arrival hall and go into the departure hall normally again?

since you book your flight separately then yes. you have to claim your luggage then check in again

So just by your estimation, will 2 hours and 20 minutes be sufficient to make the transit?

Hi, i have a question about Kansai Thru Pass and JR Kansai Hiroshima pass.

- Can the Jr Kansai Hiroshima pass be used on local buses at Himeji and Amanohashidate?

- Can the Kansai Thru pass be used on local buses in Kyoto and Nara?

I have checked the eligibility for both buses and Jr Kansai Hiroshima pass said they cover all JR buses, and gave a link in Japanese for the stops included. (I can't read japanese)

While for Kansai Thru Pass, it mentions coverage KYOTO BUS and KYOTO KEIHAN BUS, i don't know if that's all the buses that generally we will need to move around Kyoto attractions. Also, Nara buses are not listed, or is it listed under Kyoto Buses?

So, the major attraction in Odaiba is the Gundam statue? That's all?

Well, there's Fuji TV station, Sega joypolis, lots of shopping malls, oedo onsen monogatari and also a giant Ferris wheel. If you're not interested in all of those, then i guess there's no reason for you to go there.

wow thanks!

I just know about Sega Joypolis.

Since I will skip Disneyland due to its crowd, I wonder if Sega Joypolis is as crazily crowded like Disneyland?
*
It's not as crowded as Disneyland is still a much more popular place. Joypolis is fully indoors and features a lot of unique gaming machines. It's good if you don't have a lot of time as well, a visit there should take about 3-5 hours as it's not very big.

Which is more recommended to travel to Osaka from KLIA?

Direct flight MAS is about 2000 round trip
ANA to Itami via Narita is about 2500 round trip

Never board ANA before so thinking to give a try
*
This is a no brainer, MAS is not bad at all, just not excellent. There's no reason to spend more time, money and energy just to experience ANA.
