What if it says like WhatsApp on screen 2 hours but background 1.9hours? Consider normal?

ok charged to 100% today, unplugged and went into airplane mode... after a while, check battery and bam! again usage 26mins standby 26mins.... this is new coz it never happen back to back before.. now am i going to monitor it every night and literally hard reset my phone everynight?... if im going ignore it it'll drain battery all the way down the next morning...

OK another new development on my phone. I used waze yesterday and force-closed the app after i was done with it to ensure it won't be running in the background. Charged my phone to full before I slept yesterday and this morning it drained almost 20%. When I checked the battery usage, waze took up about 40% of it due to "BACKGROUND ACTIVITY"

Waddahell. Before this it was the stupid mail app. I had no choice but to uninstall it and use the Gmail app instead. Problem solved. Now even waze is acting up. The hell are apple developers doing??? I've never had so many problems on an iphone before having used so many generations of their phones.

I've got issues with third party keyboard still. Gboard in particular. WhatsApp is the main app I face the problem with.

u can try close background app refresh.
setting > general> background app refresh > off

Problem is, I never had to turn off background app refresh on my 7 plus and I've never run into such issues. Why do I need to do it now? Same with my mail app. I've been using it for donkeys and on the iphone x, it's just sucking up my battery for no reason at all.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling waze. I'll have to keep monitoring. So far, ios has downgraded itself to being as buggy as android, which is a shame as ios is the iphone's only saving grace. Putting aside the operating system, the phone is basically another overpriced piece of equipment.

There goes the battery bug again...charged full, unplug and sleep..woke up in the middle and check phone..bam..usage 48m standby 48m....if I didn't check, it will continue to run overnight and by time I'm awake it'll get to 8-9 hours usage and standby and batts below 90%....3rd time since Jan....getting more and more crazy.. really tired to have to check battery usage every night before sleep

P/S: this bug runs your usage together with standby so no matter what both numbers will appear the same..and of course, drains your batt overnight....nobody seems to find a solution to it yet so I assume it's iOS glitch..

Apparently I'm not the only one..not sure iOS or ipx.. some people shared that resetting network settings resolve the issue..will try now and update next few days..

Possible if you bring your phone to Apple Centre to resolve this issue? This phone cost you alot, but it seems a lil bit faulty, as the new iOS (hopefully) is bugging your battery 🙊 This really sad, but since you paid this much, you should be served better.

Monitoring my wife's 8 Plus on 11.2.2 as well. She didn't fully charge it last night so I can't tell if there was a drain or not this morning. Will check again and see

Please don’t misunderstand what I’m suggesting too, just for the hack of it, switched off your background refresh and see whether it stopped the battery drain. I’m sure you know background refresh waste data too. Mine is switched off. Penny pinching like me can’t afford to waste data.😊

It cannot be the phone's problem if u read the links above there are 82847728847 people with the same issue, so I highly doubt all of our phones were faulty..
I normally update through iTunes..previously I did through ota but later on reset it fresh and update via iTunes again..

I can't think of any reasons besides the backup..been doing iTunes backup every time..

I still think you have a rouge app running in the background. Just for the sake of testing, maybe you want to restore your phone and set up as new phone first and see if there's any drainage after idle. Remember to back up first so you can restore later on. Try restoring using DFU, just to be sure everything is wipe.

The other thing you can try is turning off all location service and background app refresh. Just to make sure that's not the culprit, later on turn one by one to see which one causing it.
