still driving the 1.8mt here, 95% stock.

wanted to trade in for a new car but in the end kept it as a second car. except the clutch pump to have failed twice, everything is still ok.

in the 9 years of owning the car, only replaced two rear dampers, valve cover gasket, AC motor, so far still good

re-painted the front bumper and hood as well as my wife scrapped the wall and have to go for paintwork at the rear left door and rear fender

Hi guys, i heard phew sound when accelerating, and feel heavy after turning on the AC. I'm planning to send to workshop, which parts probably having issues with those symptoms?

Thanks.
*
Having the same issue here. 1.8MT constantly occasionally jerks when trying to move in first gear (especially during jams).

1. Belt area has obvious grinding noise when AC magnet clutch triggers.
2. Spark plug changed Denso Iridium
3. Tensioner pulley and serpentine belt changed still has the same issue. Had some squeaks immediately after changing to Lucas 6PK2563 belt, then workshop offered to change to 6PK2565 instead. No more squeaks but comes the phew sound during accelerations

my personal recommendation is YES it is good, provided you buying proper /reputable short shifter kits.
and it is ultimately what is your real intention/objective/goal.

the overall shifting on the stock shifter is decent, but i wish that the knob interfacing is a little closer to the steering, so i had a short shifter and an extender so the shift gating/throws are almost same if not very slightly reduced, however the height of the knob was greatly extended very close to the steering for spirited driving/track days purposes.

so to me, my experience was great as my objective was met.
Muhrica Torque solution short shifter kit does reduce the height a little
https://www.torquesolution.com/product-p/ts-ss-016.htm
and that's a real short shifter kit

so please don't generalize.

your experience probably involved a short shifter and a very short and/or small knob that some people prefers. it basically turns the shifter into a button. some people wants that, and obviously you're not one of them.

Jerks as in clutch not fully engaged? Might be your clutch pump.

I think its fully engaged, because first gear runs fine, the jerk as in suddenly losing power.
It becomes more obvious when the AC is on, when the magnet clutch trigger then the loss of power can be felt instantly

Did not, gonna try getting the MAF and Throttle body cleaned. Dont know how dirty it is since I never cleaned it yet.
Btw, my obd2 show that throttle position is 11.27% on idle, around 500-600rpms, on a warmed engine. Not sure if this would mean the throttle body is not opening enough?

Tbh I don't know, only got the car less than a year. but already 200k. Previous owner drove for a year but never did any maintenance cry.gif

But engine was smooth and power felt ok except when aircond is on. Also sometimes have difficulty disengaging from first gear. I suppose gearbox maintenance is sooner or later hmm.gif

Difficulties in engaging gear or so , or goin up car park ramp feels like power loss/slip/jerk with 2nd gear, all these lead to worn out clutch issue, for gb oil i'll recommend redline mt85, you need 3 bottle. Clutch kit go for ori part exedy kit is good enough.

Damage for parts itself should be around 900+ for clutch kit, 300 for gb oil. Excluding workmanship. Prepare some extra incase both clutch master and slave cylinder are rotting. Change them out as well. It will be around 700-1k for ori parts. Do not use oem clutch master and slave at all cost.

Once fixed ur car can be trashed another 5 year or so with peace of mind.

Hmm, I don't think my handbrakes are fully engaged. Whenever I pulled up my handbrake, I can still push my car a bit forward/backwards before it fully stops.

At first I thought it was held in place with the "P", and the handbrake was totally not working, but I tested the handbrake in "N" so it was the handbrake holding the car, just yeah, not as firm as I like it to be.

I see, thanks for the estimations. Get myself prepared for the pain. bangwall.gif

Btw, I finally got the throttle body, MAF sensor and K&N Filter cleaned. The hesitation is still there, I don't feel any obvious increase in power, but I did notice through OBD2 that the "Throttle Position" during idle went from 11.76% to 9.8%~10.2%. Not sure if I should be happy about this, would this slightly improve FC?

In the meantime, I'm waiting to have my AC compressor replaced to see if this may change the hesitation.

Another question, my power steering has been whining a lot during idle and sometimes it gets heavier despite changing idler pulley and tensioner already. Any ways to diagnose it?

Hi all, noticed this sound recently, not sure if it's normal. 1.8 auto. When accelerating from 0-10 I can hear a "klak" sound coming from below the car. Oddly this only happens when accelerating from a stop and doesnt happen at all when I drive normally.

Car feels heavy when AC engaged.

my guess.

1. Your AC compressor bearing is bye bye, sudah JAM, so it takes a lot more effort to run it

2. Power steering making winding noise - Could be caused by your AC Compressor, as it runs on same belt, AC slow down the Belt in turn slows down the power steering pump.

3. Power steering fluid is contaminated - try flushing and changing new fluid

Sekian.....just my 2 cents

Anyone change the cooling coil for the aircon? Aircon guy told me need to take out the whole dashboard. If you changed before and how much of the labor? If take out dashboard and may have many sounds later.

Just found out that my air filter seems like does not fit properly and leave a small gap at the corner.

Hey, thanks for the feedback.

Just got the AC Compressor replaced because the clutch jam already. When AC on still feels like it need the same effort when stepping on the pedal.

Power steering winding noise still exist after changing AC Compressor.

I did replace the power steering hose because suspected leaking but not sure if mechanic replaced the steering fluid or reused it. The worst case would be a heavy power steering right? Would it damage any other components?

The car still hesitates sometimes in first gear even after changing the AC compressor tho. Could it be tuning? I did have it remapped but it didnt have hesitations for the first 2 weeks. After that, i thought it was some other components.

My car using DENSO Iridium Spark Plug, Mobil Super 2000 10W40. Car running 220k+ mileage already

I bought the Bosch Air Filter and will try Mann Air Filter next round because the original is way too expensive. I can get 2 or even 3 of Bosch or Mann filter.
