QUOTE(jesse @ Nov 27 2017, 02:16 PM)
Thanks!

Just to clarify, i've been using iphone 4,5,6plus and all the ipads. quite invested in the ios ecosystem already and just love the apple stuff, but not to the extend of pure blind love smile.gif

my iphone 6+ sucks balls now every since the latest ios update, everything is slow and buggy, which is why looking to get a new one.. have seen some youtube reviews as well (both positives and negatives) and now sitting on the fence between getting the X or the 8 plus...

Presumably 8+ will be closest to my 6+ user experince but buttery smooth again (hopefully) while the X might annoy me with the tiny little things that seem to bug all those negative reviews...

what to do, what to do....
*
Upgraded to X from 6+ as well. ios 11 is really unbearably sluggish and I always felt like throwing the phone on the floor. 😝

No regrets on the upgrade. Latest phone. Face ID works perfectly. Got used to the gestures naturally. Everything just works. After owning 6+ And 7+ I really don't think it's worth paying for 8+ As it is basically the same thing.

U r already paying 4k for 8+. For another 1k I think it's worth getting X. Unless 8+ is RM 2k then it's another story.

But some points for consideration. Although the screen is bigger because it is longer, watching videos is generally smaller than 6+ coz the screen is narrower. But the phone is so small and nice to grip. It is worth reducing the size.

Get the one with white packaging. Yellow packaging with black lines.

I'm using the one with black borders. Blended nicely with the edge of the screen and covers the notch on top.

Long story short. Good or bad? Compatible or not? ^^
*
TL:Dr

Yes, compatible. It can support up to 15W but iPhone X only utilises 7.5W.

Magic disc 4 doesn't support fast charge for iPhone X according to the specs.

Edit: iPhone X currently supports only 5W wireless charging which will be boosted up to 7.5W after release of firmware 11.2.

The magic disc 4 supports 9V/1.7A which is around 15W which also is the limit of wireless charging. Thus it should fast charge the iPhone X at 7.5W although the specs didn't indicate it.

Edit 2: currently apple provided iPhone charger at 5V/1A which only charges iPhone X at 5W. Comparatively wireless at 7.5W (after firmware 11.2) should be faster. Change to iPad charger at 5V/2A and the charging time should be faster.

However fastest should still be USB-C with PD which theoretically could go up to 40W. But apple never indicate the max Wattage iPhone X can support.

Power Delivery can provide up to 100W, not just 40W, some newer laptop already using USB-C with PD to charge, those laptop draw more than 45W to 100W depends on power needed.

Just saved myself RM 119. Used a RM5.90 USB-C to USB-A female converter and Connect original lightning cable to PD capable power bank. No need to buy USB-C to lightning cable.

Was afraid it might fry my iPhone X but took the plunge coz wanted to try fast charging.

Powerbank used is XiaoMi ZMI QB820 with PD and max 40W output. Wasn't sure how much power the X is drawing but it is charging at averagely 1% per minute.

I installed Hoda with black frame. The center top has an opening right on top of the ambient sensor (the rectangle cutout) that catches dust in the ambient sensor cutout. If mine is not a defect then I am not sure why they do it...but it is so wrong...it will affect the sensor in sensing the lights around you and it looks ugly....

Again...if mine is not a defect...DON'T BUY IT!!
I am switching to the clear one...

Anyway, Hoda is a great SP. I used is for my 7 Plus...very smooth, very clear, very oil resistant and very very easy to wipe off smudges...just a few wipes on my chest...then it is clear again...
