How about this. They facked up Morrowind by dumbing down Daggerfall. Then they facked up Oblivion by dumbing down Morrowind. Wanna bet what they'll be doing to Fallout 3?

By the way, when I came back to CanardPC and people asked me "How is Fallout 3?", honestly, all that I could say at first was "Brown".
i had the exact same feeling when i saw the trailer. it's brown as far as the eye can see... laugh.gif

VATS slow motion may be the worst crime against video gaming since the invention of the auto-aim and checkpoint based save system.

I don't know what the people of Bethesda had in mind... Maybe they feared that the game would be too short and imposed a twenty seconds on us at each targeted shot to extend the gameplay length..

Worst of all, there's no way to skip it or deactivate it in the options. You will be then forced to endure these scenes not even worthy of Soldier of Fortune 3.
cannot skip? aiyo.. sweat.gif

sigh i think i'll just go back listening to The Ink Spots for now..

Maybe... you'll think of me....

Well hopefully mods will be able to fix their fakaps like what they did with Oblivion, but even then I doubt that game will be any good.

I can already imagine a full VATS combat against a small group that'll last for 20 minutes or so.

This is like Proton releasing a new car that can't run and needs those under-the-tree mechanics to forge parts to make it run. Wow, what an excellent game development company. Or is it bug development company? Modding in Oblivion isn't actual "modding" per say. More like "fixing the horrible design choices by Todd Howard".

It is possible to partially fix F3 with mods but it'll probably take 50 or more mods...(I downloaded 53 mods to fix and enhance Oblivion)

Why even bother implementing the VATS in a first person shooter? VATS was designed specifically for a turn-based RPG game and not a for a first person shooter. I don't even know why would I want to stop time just to headshot someone since I have the crosshair and my skills to aid me. It's pointless....POINTLESS!!! arghhhh

As for the review, I wouldn't completely trust it even though it may seem like an honest review since it sounds so depressing (can a review be as depressing as this one?). It's like the reviewer has got some personal grudge against Bethesda (extremely negative remarks towards the entire game's core elements).

don't be so harsh on those button-mushing console kiddies. it's they that Beth wanted to please the most in the first place.

then come the *gore*, v.rats, stimpak in a trash bin and absurd AI by today's standard.

and .. 1-100 difficulties scaler.

Check this out. Fix a crippled head with a stimpak. Nice. You don't need doctor skill anymore. Dip yourself in radiation and then flush it out of your system with Rad-X. Voila! Gained capability to regenerate crippled limbs. No more crippled limbs anymore. Finds a sniper rifle early in the game. Wow, how balanced. Bought a fatman launcher in the marketplace. IN THE MARKETPLACE???

Man, my enthusiasm is fading fast...

I'm beginning to enjoy life here in Megaton. My new house even came with a friendly helper robot that has AI so advanced that he can make me drinks and give me a haircut. Granted, my new pompadour and handlebar mustache combo doesn't bestow any magical ability to collect more headshots in battle, but at least I look good doing it. Now I've got the confidence to set off for the big city: Washington DC

To be fair, fallout had difficulty sliders too. But fallout was never about mass murder (AKA combat in bethsoft's FO definition). Sure, combat was bloody fun (literally), but it paled in comparison to the RPG elements it offered. FO3 is gonna change that though - it'll be the exact opposite. Combat would be fun (if you're a console junkie who can't double-rocket an opponent or railgun a strafing enemy while in mid air) and that's about everything FO3 would be able to offer (if one judge from the gameplay videos nowadays).

Honestly if the combat system was good and the AI was good too i guess I would've probably enjoyed it despite it's "flaws".

However, after watching the latest gameplay trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_MV62Qqvc4 , I'm quite convinced that this game is gonna suck really really bad.

I don't think its playable. I can't accept RPG in full FPS glory and how come all the VATS come in 100% ko? It doesn't make sense. I rly want Beth goes bust with this game cause they are the one that seriously do not understand RPG.

RPGs in full FPS glory?

Deus EX, baby. System Shock 2, to a lesser extent.

For those who never played the fallout series before like me, without all the Fallout purist thing ,is it going to introduce anything new to the table.?

I would say no, not much at least. Gameplay's gonna be pretty much like any other FPS out there except that you have stats, perks and other customizable stuff.

I disagree, it doesn't look like it plays like it will play like any other FPS.

It's too slow for that.

Yeah, it's gonna introduce something that the fallout series never had - shallowness. Think of Fallout 1 as the genius big brother of the family, a little boring and socially-inept but you love him regardless because he is just so deep and open minded. Think of Fallout 2 as the hippy middle kid, addicted to pop culture and talented in many areas, although only slightly less intelligent than his big brother.

Now think of Fallout 3 as the retarded kid that slipped out of the doctor's hands and knocked his head on the ground during conception.
