The RAM is D9 should be able to tahan upto 2.5v VDIMM, so now worries. BTW, the FAN set 100% or auto still? Mine stock cooler temps ok wat. And what strange voltages you mean?
*
Oh ok cool. Will bump it back to 960Mhz then. smile.gif

How to set the FAN to 100% ar ? I disabled PPM and C1e in the stock BIOS (didn't flash to the latest yet, should I ?)

After taking the sidepanel off, it's around 49-50+. Much better.

Strange voltages ? Like sprinta's readings. Or are those considered normal ?

I remember i read from somewhere, the OCZ's oc-ability lost out to the Crucial Ballistix, so, definitely the OCZ's chips r not the best for OC C2D.

On the otherhand, if i'm not mistaken, G.Skill uses Micron's D9GMH chips, so, definitely the best solution for C2D.

I suggest, the G.Skill, unless budget is a constraints. But i doubt since u can choose between those 2.

Just my 14cents. icon_rolleyes.gif

hav ordered the g.skill rclxm9.gif . but dunno got stock or not.
the gskill does not comes with D9, but Powerchip which can oc very well too according 2 the review on vr-zone

I think should be rather safe or perhaps even recommended to run @ 2.2V. tongue.gif
http://www.nintek.com.au/x/scripts/prodVie...?idproduct=5150

Mine currently running like this since yesterday...... plus many hours of intensive games:
Attached Image

Btw... im still not convinced that it's a D9 afterall...... cant seem to hit 1000 even at 5-5-5 @ 2.2V. Scared to go above that voltage. Settings must be wrong somewhere ...... More testing needed.

Currently on 0418....... but beware of this bios. Yesterday got some raid problems.
But solved already. sweat.gif

You mean update in windows? blink.gif
Winflash is used to flash the bios in windows? blink.gif
Teach me please. icon_question.gif

Sorry, this is my first time using DFI motherboard, so i'm kinda scared and really don't know how to flash the motherboard. laugh.gif

Just got my system up and running today.  biggrin.gif
Will tweak tommorow!

Update:

Currently running it at 320x9 = 2883Mhz @ stock vcore, DDR2 @ 802Mhz @ 1.9V
Running hot @ ~60 degrees. Man, i need a better cooler. System temp is way high too.

Well, here are some pics:

Cpu-z
[attachmentid=225099]

At 3.06Ghz :
[attachmentid=225100]
[attachmentid=225101]

Super pi 1M is ~ 17sec @ 3Ghz and 18++sec @ 2.88Ghz

I also tried running the RAM (shawty's Super Talent bulk) @ 960Mhz @ 1.95v (hope i'm not killing the RAM).

[attachmentid=225102]

And a Smart Guardian pic, i too get the srange voltage readings from my ST56F
[attachmentid=225103]

I haven't meddled with the DRAM timings yet. Any suggestions ?
Also any HSF/cooler suggestions. Panas la.

Update: Seems my case air flow sucks big time. It runs much cooler with the side panel off. Hmmmmm. more work there.
*
I noticed this DFI MUST have a fan installed on the Northbridge heatsink or the system temperature will read very high.

I use an old Pentium III cooler fan and tape it on top of this cooler. and it works great. Temperature is now reading 35c biggrin.gif

The fan: Under the PC HEalth settings, set CPU fan 100%, not Auto.
PPM/C1e: Better to enable those two if you want the PC not to be so hot when idling like I did for mine.
BIOS: DEpends, if your is currently stable, stick to it. Mine I'm sticking to my 411
Volates: Thsoe are because the boards layout and PWM sensor work differently compared to what is known. Stick to the Smart Guardian provided until FCG finalises his update Core Temp plugin for MBM5

Mine didn't both in ORTHOS Blend and Everest's own stress test all except HDD stress test enabled

Download this: http://www.dfi.com.tw/Upload/BIOS/Winflash184.ZIP

Unzip it

Then download and unzip your BIOS file image

Run winflash.exe, select update all on the left and also CLear CMOS option

Load BIOS image file, then click file/update

And wait for it to flash

Once flash complete reboot, enter BIOS, set default/optimised settings, rebbot and make sure ESCD updated before messing with settings

think it's the PWM trying to maintain as low as possible the vdroop since it may trying to compensate actually

Arghhh, got a dreaded BIOS checksum corrupt earlier when I meddled with the DRAM timings (4-4-4-10 @ 962Mhz). Had to clear the CMOS then phew it worked again. I've forgotten how "aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhrrrrrhhhhhhh" OC-ing can be. tongue.gif

So it's sitting pretty at 320FSB @ stock vcore and DDR2-962Mhz @ 1.95v.

Now itchy to flash the BIOS....

under DRAM speed lo....1:1 is 266, 4:5 is 333, 2:3 is 800

Timings ? Left them at SPD, which cpu-z shows as 5-5-5-15, 2T command rate.
2:3 ratio, 480.6Mhz.

Anybody getting "Out of memory error" in the Sisoft Sandra X1 SP1a Memory benchmark ? wierd la.

Coolice: Ehehe. wait la.

FYI now the ratio terbalik liao.... by adjusting it you are actually upping ur ram speed not like the good o'day u need to set ram divider to limit ur ram speed to get higher clock speed... drool.gif brows.gif

hey Eoma i suggest u to use 1:1 1st and then set all the timing auto then boot into windows...open the memset.... write down everything there in a piece of paper and then adjust it in the bios then try to boot in to windwos and run whatever bench that u used to test stability, if stable then tighten them from there...i think 1st thing u need to do is to play around with ur FSB 1st..... thats why i ask u to set ur divider as 1:1 (533) and set a looser timing...thats is how i usually OC smile.gif
This is to prevent ur ram to throtting you FSB as most of the benchmark depend more on CPU speed more than the ram speed and timing, nowadays timing plays a smaller role than cpu speed... put the higher cpu speed u can get as the highest pririoty 1st...
p/s: dont change any value in memset, just write them down and then set it in bios....

sifus if i say something wrong plz correct me ya sweat.gif

the only thing i changed in bios is setting the nb strap to 266... is it that setting that caused this prob??
