Because Unifi uses fibre cable (if your premise is a landed property, such as terrace house), most likely your modem/routers won't get fried due to thunder strike. Common saying, won't kena lightning strike la. So just turn it on 24/7, no problem. No more those "Oh I heard got thunderstorm, better power off my modem, or else my modem kena fried by lightning later." grandmother stories.

Meanwhile for high rise building, TM uses existing telephone ports (copper) to provide Unifi service, uses VDSL2 technology instead of ADSL like Streamyx does.

Hi,
I am a 8mbps streamyx combo@RM160 user with RM30 discount for platinum hyyptv pack, my 2 years contract has end already, and
I am planning to subscribe to cheaper streamyx 8mbps@140 package (free hyyptv basic channel only)
(no luck my area don't have unifi yet ) , the question is
how much I need to pay for the first bill ? any upfront or activate fee need to pay
what about installation fee ?
I need all your advice, Thanks.

Not sure about activation fee.

Err... It's the other way round. High rise uses VDSL (under TM), while landed uses fibre (FTTH).

Landed one where got use VDSL? If ADSL got la, like Streamyx.

It's easier to ask RM20 special discount from TM service centre, no installation fee and other fess/charges or interruption. Contract and phone no remains as before. You won't be bound for another two years on new contract in case Unifi or Time fibre broadband come out in less than 2 years. This is what I did

Hei, anyone experience slowdown on video streaming? Youtube 1080p is ok, however any other video streaming including iflix is slow (also Kodi+real debrid), switching to DiGi is ok so doubt its because of the site/debrid.

Urgent, need help here.

Dear Senpais, so I'm about to apply for Streamyx 8mbps but I heard that TM will give you private IP. I NEED public IP to host LAN game and some other stuff so I'm really worried now. What if they give me a private one? Can I request them to change to public?

Thanks for answering.

Bro, chill. You asked the same question over and over again. You can request for public IP.

Yeah because no one else answered. You are the first one! I literally just posted this question before you answered my other one. Thanks!
