Urgent, need help here.

Dear Senpais, so I'm about to apply for Streamyx 8mbps but I heard that TM will give you private IP. I NEED public IP to host LAN game and some other stuff so I'm really worried now. What if they give me a private one? Can I request them to change to public?

Thanks for answering.

Bro, chill. You asked the same question over and over again. You can request for public IP.

Anyone here with ipv6 working? I tried to contact TM and they keep treating me like a kid, saying that there's no reason for you to use ipv6 .-.
It used to work for me before i get free upgrade to 8mbps and I get quite nice surfing experience with ipv6

There’s a few forumees here that have IPv6 working, but I am inclined to agree with TM. There no point for you to use IPv6, especially in Malaysia, as the implementation is still really basic, and not fully ready.

For the past years, I always get call for TM agents askingme to upgrade my Streamyx plan to Unifi or faster plan.. what is the catch here? As I always ignore their call..

Sounds like they want to change all the copper in your place to fibre. I would change if I were you. The difference is like night and day.

Up to you sis. If you don’t feel like you need it, then don’t bother. Just letting you know that it is a huge difference compared to Streamyx.

anyone know how much TM going to give free turbo boost ? from 8 mbps to 100mbps ??

If your infra are not FTTH or even VDSL, forget it. Sounds like you are on ADSL. You won't get any upgrades unless your infra can support fibre.

Using 8mbps for now, paying at RM140/month.
I got a call from TM today, say that they can upgrade me to

Unifi Lite 10mbps(*if i dont hear it wrong*)

while the fees remain the same. But new 100mbps unifi is at rm130.

My questions:
1)Should i proceed with it?
2)Is it copper wire or fibre optic?
3)I need to change my current modem (tenda d151)?
4) Will there be any upgrading fees like rewiring etc if i proceed?
*
1) Up to you, but probably will be more stable.
2) Copper.
3) Yes, your new modem router will have to support VDSL. Tends D151 does not.
4) Depends on infra.

gosh, early this month my streamyx got free upgrade to 8mbps.
it was fine until early this week.

my games are lagging badly, some videos in facebook can't even play.
i blame the new ip range that i'm getting for my streamyx, i used to get 115.x.x.x or 175.x.x.x, now the ones i get is 100.98.x.x

no matter how many times i restart, i couldn't get out of it sad.gif

Sounds like you got relegated to private IP. I suggest calling them to sort it out. See here: https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4681781

has anyone encountered a problem where tm refuse to upgrade package to 8mbps citing infrastructure limitations despite my service address supporting up to 8mbps packages according to tm's own coverage checker as well as resellers?

I submitted a termination request so that i can hope for customet retention team to handle the request instead, but almost immediately after submitting the request (abt 1 min) tm quickly changed my address from port available to no port available... so fishy...

its not like i want a free upgrade, i pay rm160 oso no prob cos its for work....

Those idiots are unreliable as hell. Sorry to hear that. I waited for 8 years plus to get Unifi in my other house, and my speed before that was only 4Mbps so I totally get where you are coming from. Hopefully, they are planning to fiberize the entire nation and then you will get Unifi.

even better, the tm rep apparently told my family member during a site survey for unifi that my area would NEVER get unifi due to it being government squatters ... my god

That's just wrong. What happened to Gobind's promise about everyone getting a decent connection? Bullshit yet again.
