i got the router in 2019, mean the latest firmware already preinstall? or i need access to the router to check?
*
Your router is get from where, is it TM give you one?

If it is, then the preinstall one is TM build in firmware.
Suggest you access to the router to check the firmware for double confirmation.

By right there is a password before access to the router, but no username.
I haven't try to flash the original firmware, cause quite complicated of unifi password.

Plus there is no options for user to change unifi password. Kinda very poor security for the unifi account. shakehead.gif

It seems like I can't set the main QoS engine bandwith on DIR-842. Every time I click save, the page just loads but nothing's changed. Also no 30 sec timer.

Btw I just want to limit this router's global speed since this house only got rm79 basic with 60gb data cap.

It was working before though. Managed to make up/dl speed to 2 mbps each from 300 mbps (original). Tested max download, and it stay 2 mbps, then I change it into 30 mbps to test back if it messed up the system. It was the last time it for to work.

Attached Image

Now I can't even change it back, up speed is still shitty 2 mbps.

Hi sifus,

I’ve recently purchased a 2ndhand D-Link DIR882 router which I believe it’s a TIME fibre set. It’s running on firmware version 3.5.8tt (something like that).

However, I’m using TM@Unifi and I couldn’t get it to work. I’ve already tried changing its pppoe to my unifi account login details. And it seemed like the router is not getting any internet connection.

What did I miss here? I tried googling around for ways to configure this router but I couldn’t find any guides that actually work. Or simply because it’s outdated. Because I noticed the guides on google show different interface and features than what I’m currently seeing when I wanna set up the router which really makes me confuse.

I’m starting to think that I made a wrong purchase. Or perhaps I didn’t properly configure the router for it to work.

Could anyone lend me a hand?

VLAN tagging enabled? If it is a used TIME unit, they did not enable VLAN tagging as they do need to do so. If it is using TIME firmware, you might not be able to enable VLAN. Probably best to check. If you can’t enable VLAN tagging, you will have to flash TM firmware or the stock firmware.

Yeah, I tried vlan tagging as well but it doesn’t work.

Any idea how to flash TM firmware for this router?

I think there is only the official router firmware at their product page.

Is it possible to force update the firmware?

I'm fairly new to this.

Could you guide me on how it works?

EDIT:// Looked around the web and found it. But I could only find that their supported hardware is A1. But mine is R1. So no luck?

If you can read Chinese, sorry I can't seems to find any guide in English.
The steps is like enter recovery mode > flash DD-WRT > flash breed > flash Padavan, you will need WinSCP and Putty to have these steps done, might sounds complicated but just follow the guide and it's pretty simple

Unfortunately, I can't read Chinese. However, thanks for sharing. I'll find a way to translate the page.
