Last time my friend came Malaysia. Cashier will ask her want pat with Visa or Union Pay. POS will have options to choose.

the unionpay part of it isn't a debit card?

if it's credit, then it still sounds like 2 separate credit card accounts to me, although physically there is one piece of plastic.

if the sst is charged per physical card, then i prefer the bank offer the option of virtual cards for m2c. then i can still pay my bills and 0 sst for me. innocent.gif

interesting but most likely charged as per service rather than per physical card.

Not our business. Only happen in China.

UnionPay cards can be used in 162 countries and regions around the world, making it the third-largest payment network by value of transactions processed, behind Visa and MasterCard.[10] Some UnionPay credit cards are also affiliated with American Express, MasterCard or Visa, and they can be used abroad as an American Express, MasterCard or Visa. UnionPay debit cards, however, can only be used in the UnionPay network and other networks that have signed contracts with UnionPay. Since 2006, China UnionPay cards can be used in over 100 countries outside China.[11]

the op was suggesting one possibility that can be adopted to avoid sst on the rarely used mc/visa that comes m2c.

Maybank has got a lot of customer base. Even though ur income is high, your approved credit limit will rarely exceed 2x multiplier. MBB can't spread their risk too thin. Only thing good is they issue CC very fast & efficient compared to other banks within 7 working days.

not true...mine is about 3.7x of my income

But in Malaysia, we cannot mix Visa (4), Mastercard(5), Amex(3), UnionPay, JCB as they have their individual BIN.
Our banks are using MEPS (MyDebit) and unfortunately they don't offer credit. So we have MyDebit+Visa or MyDebit+Mastercard, but only for Debit cards.

only if they don't screw up. my card was approved 2 weeks ago, it didn't arrive, and they couldn't tell me where is my card until today.

From my passed experience including my mum and sister application. Once received approved SMS, Card appeared at M2U normally you will receive on the next working day.

You will receive the card;
2 days after approved or
1 day after card appeared on M2U.

You should call Maybank to follow up.

What you say it's not what is stated on the Kastam guidelines.

QUOTE
16. Service tax shall be imposed on the date of issuance or renewal of the credit card or charge card or on every twelve months after the date the card is issued or renewed. There are three methods for the imposition of service tax:

(i) New card issued with a validity period for 1 year Service tax shall be imposed on the date the card is issued

(ii) New card issued with a validity period for several years Service tax shall be imposed on the date the card is issued and every 12 months after the due date

(iii) Cards issued before 1 September 2018 and valid for several years Service tax shall be imposed on the date of renewal and every 12 months after the renewal date.

doh.gif The way i see it, even if you're eligible on paper, it's like a flip of a coin when it comes to the final decision. Some may disagree on this, but same may agree too.. Though i do agree that they are quite efficient. Have to give them that.

just called maybank CS for some SST questions:

1) TreatsPoints redemption = 12,500TP for RM25 SST. If not mistaken, pre-GST time, also same 12.5kTP redemption for RM50

2) no news yet for M2C. definite answer is 2xRM50 charging as expected. whether got auto-waiver for either card, no communications yet. info would be released soon.

3) confirm effective 1 Sep 2018. kinda odd because banks need at least 21 days to make changes, i guess they are using the Govt as excuse, whereby the CS quickly said the SST was due to Govt's requirements laugh.gif
