For your unifi stb, go look for the AstroGo version 8.2.6 and install that one. Maybe the same for your sharp android TV too.

If you are not happy with 8.2.6 but insist on using AstroGo latest version, then maybe you should buy a new TV box.

But if you still want to troubleshoot further and willing to try additional things, post here again. You can try to turn on 'developer option' to see if the system webview can be changed or not.

new astrogo app does not work well on all AndroidTV (ATV) devices, whether TV or box.
this is probably by design - astro wants to cut out as many non-mobile use as much as possible.

go back to previous v8.2.6, still can use nicely for now... until they kill it in future.
the diff is this old version does not get as much free VOD as the new.

not androidtv devices.. but google widevine L1.. that is what i suspected.. as m8s pro l and w, both normal android but with google L1.. both having choppy live tv hd playback.. although they are google L1, they can't play netflix full hd.. kena ban.. kikiki..

i recently watched a video demo of a set top box.. they claimed they are mcmc/sirim approved.. to my surprise, they have astr0 content.. if i am not mistaken, astr0 never licensed their broadcast to any 3rd party iptv.. somemore this provider provides almost latest movie, captain marvel for example.. this stb no monthly payment, pay 1 time only for the device.. i wonder, is it now u can be legal if ur box is mcmc approved, and also illegal at the same time if your device stream copyrighted content..

now i think all the ban android box threat could be just something as diversion from bigger issues..

i really dunno about other devices but i'm quite sure ATV devices have this same problem.
but if yr regular android L1 also same, L1 must be the reason.
so, here we go... just when u think u want L1, Netflix HD... it can't do astro go!! laugh.gif
guess it won't work with unifi@laytv too.

that mcmc/sirim thingy + illegit stuff... u know i know what's going on...

It could be because the app detected Widevine L1, so thus try to stream higher resolution, but somehow the drivers or servers involved can't do it properly.

CODE

$ find sources -exec grep WideVine {} \; -print 2>/dev/null
           StringBuilder sb = new StringBuilder("WideVine DRM (");
sources/com/nexstreaming/nexplayerengine/NexPlayer.java
                   StringBuilder sb2 = new StringBuilder("setWideVineDrmKeyServerUrl ( ");
   public void setWideVineLicenseServer(String str) {
sources/com/nexstreaming/nexplayerengine/NexVideoView.java

NexPlayer is the internal player inside the AstroGo.

Netflix restricts optimum playback on uncertified devices.. This is mostly server side. So hack all you want on the device end, eventually should Netflix want to.. It'll be blocked again. So for Netflix lovers.. It's simple, stick to certified devices. Usually most modern TVs.

As for the other ehem stuff.. Don't confuse.. The hardware (like mobile phones, computers, calculators, etc) IS certified by SIRIM and MCMC.. But the LATER bundled software and service is NOT!

nice job bro.. until then, we all have to wait till the smart programmer at atastr0 to come out with the solution.. drop this drm check if u dont need it.. l3 boxes all can stream hd live tv content without any issue..

I want to ask this, the lagging only happens to broadcast streaming but not VOD ? Possibly it is using different streaming mechanism then ?

search yourself in shopee.. use this keyword:

android box mcmc

if all these boxes are mcmc certified, but contains illegal astr0 channels, unlicensed movies/tv shows, then i can say that mcmc approval is wayang only.. same with legal and illegal gambling..

This does not bode well.

It also implies astro has no plans for the app to work well direct on any tv incl Androidtv.

So... better get L3 unrooted boxes... should work.

Btw, strangely, new app also works easy on PC Windows, unlike old version.

The lagging does it happen to Android 8/9 devices ?
