IMO, its too late for Astro. Time and again they have shown that they just can't be bothered to change their ways. Too expensive and only now they have made a reasonably good app. After years of having a shitty app that does not even work on TVs. Too little, too late or will Astro persevere? I hope that they perservere, but I'm not holding my breath.

Yeah.. Probably oversold or utilized subpar equipment.. I know their tech guys are smart.. So looking at you management.. .. Either way, 2020 is almost here... We can only hope that they offer a much cheaper price and better service...Else, you know..I know la.

Not holding my breath here either.. Cut the cord so long ago and no regrets since then.. Saved a fortune too. Unfortunately, not many can do the same. Which is partly why they are still in business.. For how long? We'll see la.. As for innovating? Well, we all know and love this country. Where studies and infinity researches are required to study and research the research..

I'm having a situation today with astro go on my android box.

Just yesterday everything doing just fine. Until today when i update astro go app using ipk, it seem i the login page is missing. Meaning i cannot login. Before this i hide my root device with magisk. Please offer me some solution how to view the missing login page.

I can login via phone and tablet but not android box.

Check your current installed version number.

If it is version 2.192.5/AC19.2.5/...... instead of 8.2.6, then you will have the same problem with HBO Go M. It is due to your device webview is unable to handle certain JavaScript thingie correctly.

It is a long story, read the story in the HBO Go thread. To cut the long story short, delete current installation, reinstall back 8.2.6 .....

Done and done..working again..but no video..maybe astro already blockled the old version from accessing the server.

U mean the old version worked... then u updated to new, cant log in... now reinstall old cant work also?

Were u forced to update from old to new or u chose to do so?

What you have written is kind of confusing.

Because there are people who still able to use the 8.2.6 version. If you use the old 8.2.6 version and yet cannot get streaming ( while others still can ), meaning Astro detect your device and stop streaming selectively.

Sorry for been confusing.

After reading puchongite post, right away check the version which is the new version*, then uninstall, re-install 8.2.6 and everything seem ok (can login).

At first, I thought OK already but when I try to stream some channel (xstro supersport), the pink circle keep on rotating. So suspect maybe old version cannot access to xstro server.

But now maybe my box been blocked by astro after all.

*Astro go app auto update to new version. But previous version I updated via apk. Don't know how my box (X92) suddenly can auto update.

from what u and others described...

1. yr box got auto updated to new app, meaning playstore detects its compatibility and forced it.
the missing log in page... check u have chrome or puffin browser.
some people get the page but still can't log in.
if u see the page, wait a bit first.
if still can't, exit and renter the app.

2. your box root hiding may have been lost, rendered uneffective.
hence u are unable to use v8.2.6 again.
it is possible the new app contains a new requirement check that yr box can't get thru now.

i personally can use both new and old versions on my boxes/TV's.

For new version, the login page is there a few second before it change to "login with facebook" menu still I cannot login with FB since the email is the same with Astro go ID

u need to have a browser app installed the box, chrome or puffin or...
the browser serves as installer; w/o it. it will not install.

Forget about the browser thingie. Some devices the webview object is hardcoded, it is not affected by the browsers that you installed into the system.

X92 is the box that I am having, even though I might not be using exactly the same ROM as you. I have root, so I actually have to use root to upgrade the framework-res.apk and added a 'com.google.android.webview', to force the system to use a more powerful/recent webview object.

You best shot is still fall back to 8.2.6. I don't think Astro is so free to block based on per person. If they want to block, they probably block based on device categories.

no, not log in thru browser - when u open the app, it actually calls on something in the browser to install it.

well, i can't explain all the tech details...

if u already hv chrome and it doesn't work, likely something else blocking it.

perhaps time u look for another box...
